  1. Gary Davies in for Vernon tomorrow (Tuesday 11th February)
  2. Tina Daheley in for Jeremy Vine from Monday 10th February for two weeks Phil Williams covering OJ Borg from Monday 17th February for a week Romesh Ranganathan is off again on Saturday 15th February.. Josh Widdecombe sits in Michelle Visage is in for Elaine Paige On Sunday all this month. Alex Jones in for Dermot O'Leary on Saturday 22nd February Shaun Keaveny in for Rob Beckett on Sunday 23rd February
  3. James Cusack and Sam & Danni have settled into their new shows really well, Sam & Danni's show will go from strength to strength as time goes on. The new slot will give them perfect chance to build up to an inevitable move to weekdays. Going Home is the weak link on the station for me, sadly. It really has suffered losing Jordan. I don't really listen to the show anymore but I gave it a go last week and wasn't impressed. Jamie Laing kept just frequently interrupting with inane comments that added very little. I just don't see the need for him when Vick & Katie were already an established duo. RMC are fine as presenters.. although i don't think it's ever been the right slot for them. I don't think mid morning needs a trio. Jack Saunders was destined for the new music show so that was another one of Aled's better decisions.
  4. I think all the above posts have summed up overall how I feel. I can't believe it's been nearly a year since Jordan left. I've got to be honest, I feel myself turning over to Radio 2 and sticking with it a lot more often. Greg and Matt are definitely the strongest presenters on the station. I'm not as fully sold on the Matt & Jerry pairing as much as I am Matt & Mollie, that said it's still enjoyable, especially when you compare with what we had on afternoons until last summer. Moving Matt and Mollie to weekdays is the best decision Aled has made in my opinion. Greg has definitely stepped things up a gear again, especially since his new producer came in and since Jordan started at Capital. Nothing will ever beat the Chris Smith pairing, but Greg and Calum are a great double act, the on air interaction with the production team is great as well. I hope he has a few more years on the show at the least as there is no one obvious to replace him in my opinion.
  5. Yeah, pretty much echoing what people have said, that was a great first show and he sounded right at home. Love the jingles, the 'easiest' quiz is fun and he has great rapport with Tina and Ellie. All those breakfast shows he's done over the years have paid off. The Birthday Game gives some nice familiarity from the afternoon show, and sits well as a feature along many things, rather than on the afternoon show where some days it was the 'main event'
  6. A Robbie Williams song would be my guess. Let Me Entertain You maybe?
  7. Another week of Mark Goodier on breakfast, OJ Borg on afternoons and Phil Williams on overnights next week before the new schedule launches on the 27th January. Emma Willis is in for Romesh Ranganathan on Saturday 18th January.
  8. https://radiotoday.co.uk/2025/01/global-introduces-new-nations-strategy-and-drops-local-and-regional-shows-in-england/ I thought it would be worth a thread of it's own to give thoughts on Global's strategy, whether it's in agreement/disagreement, who will host the new national shows. I feel for those who have lost their jobs, some of which have been on the air over 20 years however.. they will have probably been aware that this would have happened before long. The writing was on the wall when they axed the regional breakfast shows. Going forwards, does anyone reckon they will just expand the existing London drive shows on Heart/Capital and breakfast on Smooth? They pretty much did that with Roman Kemp and Jamie Theakston when breakfast went national. I can definitely see Jenni Faulkner on Smooth breakfast and JK & Kelly Brook on Heart drive, although I think they might eye up changes for Capital's drive show.
  9. This has now been updated. OJ is on breakfast, but Victoria is in for Jeremy, and Richie is covering the afternoon show.
  10. Friday 17th January has OJ's photo on the breakfast show, and Victoria Derbyshire's on the afternoon show.
  11. Angelica Bell is sitting in on the late show next week ahead of Spoony launching The Good Groove in that slot.
  12. That certainly won't be the case. If he's away, someone else will cover.
  13. I heard Spoony revealing it on the radio, understandably he gotta bit emotional when talking about it. Glad to hear he's on the mend and back on air. OJ is the main stand in for Sara (he's covering this week bar tonight and tomorrow because of no drive time show on NYE/NYD) but yeah I'm glad he's doing the interim afternoon slot from next week. It's a shame he didn't get the slot full time to be fair. Will be interesting to see who covers Trevor going forwards. I don't think we'll see Mark covering often to be fair. He's only done one day cover since he returned (one day in fir Vernon). OJ and Gary Davies seem to fill the void that Mark Goodier used to fill sitting in for the main DJs. They're probably just a bit stuck for cover presenters at the moment. Had Grimmy not still been on 6 music next week, he would've been a good shout to sit on either show (his Rylan cover has been great but that's for another post)
  14. Mark Goodier is presenting the breakfast show next week, with OJ Borg on the afternoon show and Phil Williams on overnights all week.
  15. Yeah I think so. Spoony was meant to be on all week (except Christmas day). Tomorrow and Boxing Day was definitely meant to be Spoony followed by Richie at 4, but they've just merged the two shows together on those days. Richie is actually on for 5 hours on Boxing Day between 2 and 7.
  16. Richie Anderson is doing the mid afternoon slot (2-4pm) today and Friday. Tomorrow (Christmas Eve) and Boxing Day he's on for 4 hours between 2 and 6pm. He's also in for Dermot O'Leary on Saturday 28th December and Saturday 4th January.
  17. Ruth Jones and James Corden, alongside other Gavin & Stacey cast members are hosting the breakfast show on Monday 23rd December.
  18. Grimmy in for Rylan on Saturday 4th January Week Commencing 6th January Gary Davies is still in for Vernon Edith Bowman in for Jo Whiley Spoony is 'in' for Trevor Nelson. I'm not sure whether that means he's finished on Rhythm Nation by this point, but I'm surprised Spoony is covering what is effectively his own slot so close to him taking over with The Good Groove. It also means someone else will be covering the afternoon show... Hopefully OJ Borg.
  19. He's been on in the afternoon on Radio 1 & 2 for 20 years. He was on early breakfast for the first 5 years of his Radio 1 career, then moved to weekend afternoons in 2004, then drivetime in the same year.
  20. Scott's last day on afternoons after 20 years tomorrow!
  21. Not really, people like different things. Doesn't make them 'easily pleased'. I wasn't a fan of the afternoon show but in my opinion he's a perfectly competent presenter. The hate has been disproportionate from the social media mob, but he hasn't done himself many favours. Whether it was just 'for the cameras' or not, his personality didn't come across maybe how he wanted it to.
  22. Steffan Powell (former Radio 1 Newsbeat presenter/newsreader) is sitting in for Owain Wynn Evans on New Year's Day/2nd/3rd January. A few other schedule changes going into December: Shaun Keaveny in for Liza Tarbuck tonight (30th November) Tina Daheley in for Jeremy Vine on Tuesday 3rd December Jason Mohammed in for Owain on Friday 6th December. Romesh off again next week (7th) so Emma Willis sits in Nick Grimshaw in for Rylan on Saturday 14th, 21st and 28th (I assume he's in the following Saturday as well with Rylan still in Panto).
  23. The press release said that, but it also states on the press release that Mark Goodier will be live as well, which is certainly not correct as the Pick Of The Pops Christmas special is already available on Sounds. Jane pre recorded last year's Christmas day special, along with the two bank holiday shows she did earlier in the year. I stand to be corrected though 🤷
  24. NYE afternoon/evening is: 12-2 Sophie Ellis Bextor's NYE Kitchen Disco 2-4 Sounds Of the 60's with Tony Blackburn 4-6 Sounds Of The 70's with Bob Harris 6-8 Sounds Of The 80's with Gary Davies 8-10 Sounds Of The 90's with Owain Wynn Evans Michelle Visage's NYE Party (live from LA) A few other bits included 4-6pm on Christmas Eve is Richie Anderson's Driving Home For Christmas and Tony Blackburn's Sounds Of Soul 12-2pm on Boxing Day.
  25. Christmas Day and NYE on Radio 2 is similar to last year: 25th December 6-8am Zoe Ball's Christmas Crooners' 8-10 Good Morning Christmas with Rev. Kate Botley 10-12 Junior Choice with Anneka Rice 12-2 Jane Mcdonald 2-4 Gary Davies 4-7 Pick Of The Pops Christmas special (1974, 1984 and 1994) 7-8 Mariah Carey's Christmas Hour 8-10 Beverley Night's Gospel Christmas 10-12 Trevor Nelson's Gospel Christmas. Kate Botley, Junior Choice and Gary Davies are live as usual.
