Going back to what some were commenting on yesterday - this hour of requests at 7.30am is a bit jarring not sure they should have made it a week long thing ?

Would love a podcast. Is there anything stopping them?
Maybe it's a freshers series of gigs? Or is it too late to announce that...
My gut instinct is that Global/Capital would frown upon outside collaborations… but since Roman has landed the One Show gig I’m not so sure.
Freshers gig makes perfect sense timing wise I think, that’s a good shout
-
That makes a lot of sense looking back at it, that it’s a gig I suppose. Part of me is still clinging on to the hope of a collaboration in the form of a podcast of something recorded
-
I’m looking forward to listening to that conversation with Ken Bruce, seems like he has very deep feelings about his departure that he didn’t let on at the time
-
Scott & Chris both hinting on insta that they are announcing something tomorrow… fangirl mode activated ?
-
That makes sense with the timing of the hen do games they’re doing this week too

Don't know how Roman Kemp can commit to doing the One Show as well as breakfast. That's dedication.
Presume he can help hustle some guests on to his radio show though!
I thought the same about Roman, I wonder if he’ll eventually step back from radio as his presenting career takes off
-
Ah of course, it's broadcast from Cardiff - I hadn't made the connection, makes sense now ?

Interesting that Wynne Evans is covering Owain, do we know if he's been on R2 before? (my dad listens to him on Radio Wales)

I'm interested to see if Arielle makes any kind of mention of it / apology in her first few links when she's back. I'm guessing she won't, but she has been unusually quiet on social media and I'm intrigued to see how she will be when she returns. All back to normal in an ideal world I suppose.

I personally still think it was the way it was said rather than what was said. To show up drunk is unprofessional, and to interrupt and disrespect a colleague while they are trying to present a show is rude.
Scott used to champion some awfully questionable pop songs, just for the fun of it. Rebecca Black - Friday being one example. It was a terrible song, but it was a laugh. Chris would also often throw subtle shade at Scott's bangers choices, so negative opinions on songs are definitely allowed, but I think Arielle's tone was out of order and brought down the mood of what Charlie was trying to make an uplifting dance show and a cheesey fun song that she wanted to play.
Even Zane Lowe respected Scott's love for cheesey pop so much that he had a hand in the whole playing out the entire Britney album stunt, I'm sure that music wasn't to Zane's taste, but then nobody was asking him to play it on his show.

Wow, thank you - not wanting to take this off topic but love the 1998 BBC vibe giving a mix of professional look with tabloid-style headline! ?

I'm old enough to remember how Ibiza weekend finished Lia I'Anson's Radio 1 tenure
I’m intrigued, what happened with Lisa I’anson?

I wonder what Greg or Scott would have done… those are the two that I hold both in high esteem and also with totally different approaches. I think Scott would have played a song. Greg might embrace the chaos a bit more. I think Charlie did the best she could caught off guard
-
That sounds fair, I suppose Charlie expected a friendly drop-in from a fellow presenter. I thought she handled it very well too, though you could hear she was annoyed
-
You could hear her shouting after Charlie took her mic down, but I would say it was pretty irresponsible of whoever let her on air in the first place if she was clearly drunk.
Could have been worse. Nothing on the scale of Scott after the brits - I always wondered why the producers let him do that show, is it just that times have changed?
-
Saw on a fb group that Arielle turned up to Charlie Hedges’ Saturday show sounding a bit drunk slagging off one of the songs, anybody else hear?

The Q&A episode is a good one to listen to if you're new. Interesting how the pod was originally pitched to the BBC. Wonder if they regret not agreeing?
Thanks Jono, I hadn’t noticed the Q&A episode. Great for new listeners, it’ can be difficult to get into a podcast this far down the line, and there were things in there that I hadn’t heard before too -
This just reminded me of the time a caller said 'I've reached the point of lockdown where I'm starting to fancy Chris' and I was completely in agreement with her! ?
But Chris isn't there anymore... so it's Greg for me.

This has been one of my favourite types of Summer games so far. As mentioned above, it’s quite relaxed, and nice to hear so many different presenters involved and interacting in different ways.
I appreciate that something like this has to be co-ordinated and therefore ‘staged’ to a certain extent, but it feels a lot less contrived than some of the previous years events. Just seems like a fairly wholesome bit of chaos for everyone to engage with so far, which has been fun I think.

… when somebody says the name Julio Bashmore and you have to say ‘I bet he does’

Wow. I watched that one and I have only just made the connection that Adele from big brother is our Adele from Radio1!
When is Vick Hope and Calvin Harris' wedding?

Interesting, Chris posted on his insta story a quick video of Scott in the back of a car, so I wonder if he was there too. I hope they had a lovely day
