  1. I very much doubt that would happen. He wouldn't be making jokes about it if his contract hadn't been renewed.

    Music on Shows

not far more choice. He's scheduled 4 for every half hour, instead of 7. He can't move them songs from the half hour he's supposed to, else he'd mess up the scheduling for the rest of the day.
  3. I hope the mouse click sound isn't in the actual version you send to anyone...
  4. it is - it doesn't give you exact numbers. But it gives you a fair idea of how well you're doing because every station uses the same system!

    Swearing On R1?

there's nothing wrong with the word bitch. There's a song by Meredith Brooks called Bitch which still gets unedited plays across billions of commercial radio stations.

    Swearing On R1?

there is no radio watershed - so rumours of it being allowed after 9PM are false. Swearing is allowed on the radio, it all depends on the context. Ofcom state that if offensive language is needed, it must be at a time when it is not likely to be heard by children. So, in theory, it is much safer to swear during the day on the radio than during the night. Radio 4 are constantly broadcasting old plays which have offensive language. For example, the 'N word' was used constantly during a black American play. But they didn't get into trouble because of the context the word was used in. There are certain words which cause offence, and people complain about, and ofcom has a list of the most offensive words (in order) If someone complains about offensive language, ofcom will investigate it (as somebody has been offended by the language used) but it fully depends on the context the word was used in.
  7. aka he records them off the radio and adds a bit of reverb to cover up the hard edits.
  8. oh dear. I avoided the last specialist take over, and it looks like I'll be avoiding this one. Especially Annie Mac.

    1Xtra Rebrand

It's as much of a news story as the 6Music rebrand. It's not just "black" music anymore - it's just hip hop and RnB And the reason they're airing adverts with it in, is because it's already happened. Put 1Xtra on and it's had a complete re-do of the station sound.
  10. Really?! Successful? I Think not
  11. BBC to rebrand Radio 1Xtra The BBC's digital radio station 1Xtra will reportedly drop its "Love Black Music, Love 1Xtra" slogan as part of a rebranding exercise to bring it closer to parent network Radio 1. According to The Guardian, the rebrand will see 1Xtra adopt two new straplines - "Xtra RnB" and "Xtra Hip Hop" - to better indicate it as Radio 1's urban music spin-off. The station will also get a new logo blending the two station's branding. The rebranding of 1Xtra is part of the BBC's new strategy for its radio stations, including the controversial planned closure of 6 Music and the Asian Network. Under the new strategy, the corporation wants to create and support a series of brand extensions for its five main radio networks - Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live. To complement Radio 1Xtra and Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, Thompson wants to rebrand Radio 7 as Radio 4 Extra. Senior BBC sources also suggest that 6 Music could become Radio 2 Extra to placate strong opposition to its closure. Over the next 18 months, the BBC Executive will more closely tie 1Xtra's editorial schedule to parent station Radio 1 and grow its modest audience to a "sustainable scale". 1Xtra currently has a relatively low weekly reach, which has led to calls for it to be shut instead of 6 Music. Tim Westwood, the station's most high-profile DJ, recently complained that he had been broadcasting "to absolutely nobody for the last three hours - it's soul-destroying". The BBC said that 1Xtra's new "Xtra RnB" and "Xtra Hip Hop" straplines will help create a "front door" for the station's wider musical playlist, which includes dancehall, dubstep and house music. A BBC spokeswoman said: "These two genres should act as the front door into the rest of the station, giving the audience a clear message about the core offering and a route in, where we can then inform them of the range of music 1Xtra has to offer." One word: Why?
  12. is this a pre-rec? I'm sure they said which cover they did on Scott's show yesterday
  13. I disagree. I, among others I expect, have successfully avoided Radio 1 for a whole day. As chris moyles put it last week, what's wrong with the 10 hour take over?
  14. It's a daytime music show. The focus is on the music, not the presenter. Moyles and Mills are entertainment shows. Nick Grimshaw and Zane play brand new music and talk to death about it, because that's what the show is for. You can easily revise to fearne, edith, jo wiley, reggie, etc - because that's the kind of show they're at. They don't require full attention because of what they're saying.

    Moyles

I think they've introduced a sort of on demand service for TV and Radio.
  16. any chance you could do me a copy on tape while you're at it?
  17. * sounding totally crap and useless
  18. I think, after listening to Matt on earlies this week, he'd be much better than Dev covering Greg's/Scott's shows in future. It would make sense to put Matt on when Scott has a holiday (or if chris is on holiday) - because then you're not moving around as many shows. Hopefully this will happen. Dev is just awful.
  19. I think they're changing the whole production sound of Radio 1, so it wouldn't surprise me! 1tros are slowly dying out, as well as personalised beds (they're all pretty generic) and of course the new chart imaging (promos as well as the actual show imaging) - so a new station sound soon wouldn't be a huge surprise
  20. surely this should prove to Radio 1 that they should stop getting their presenters from the TV and actually get more radio presenters
  21. Can't help but think that if everyone who's signing this petition actually listened to 6 music, then it wouldn't be getting shut down. Nobody listens to 6 music, and now that it's getting shut down - everyone's falling in love with it. Too little, too late.
