  1. Sounds like Sara might be the prefered replacement for Chris' holidays since she keeps the rest of the team on the air. I remember in the past when Chris would take his summer hols Scott would always call up Dave, who was in the office doing nothing.
  2. It's blocked there too. BBC's blocking a LOT more video content than they used to.
  3. And, as usual, it's not available outside the UK.
  4. They're only advertising him on their talk channels... That's not a good sign if you enjoy hearing him on Radio 1. He's got what, less than 4 months left on his contract?
  5. I hate to ask, but how long til Scott's gone for good? this makes at least six weeks he's been out since November.
  6. Moyles didn't seem to be having the best day on Monday. He went off on a rant about The Biggest Loser too with Davina left trying to defend the show.
  7. Is Chris actually Scott's new producer? No mention of TOTDS today and before Christmas Scott casually mentioned "Chris" was producing the show, even though he's usually pitched as an out-of-work friend of Scott's.
  8. I can't remember, but isn't Radio 1 usually heavily into Christmas music by now? Aside from a couple tracks on Moyles last Monday and the new Coldplay song, I haven't heard any Christmas tunes except for when they're being used as DJ beds.
  9. True, but could you take four hours of Moyles without any breaks? Take the first half hour of his show and extend it FOREVER. Even I wouldn't stick around for that...
  10. Wait... "Moyles is massively in demand in America"? Since when? 99% of the country doesn't know him. Though Sirius carries Radio One, it's never pulled large listening figures (last official count two years ago was around 150,000 for a subscribership of 11 million). He's never appeared on TV or radio here elsewhere, so this would be a real surprise if Sirius snatched him up, and even then I don't know where they'd even fit him in.
  11. I wouldn't call it an obsession. Overall, there are very few UK presenters with a wide presence here in America (don't forget, we've got, on average, over 500 cable channels available now), and Piers Morgan's a real anomoly on top of it all. It's possible American networks pull presenters from the UK because over here you don't find many that are all that well suited to general hosting duties.
  12. FOX tried this show a couple years back, calling it "Skating With Celebrities". It failed after a 2-month run. Let's see if this ABC version fares any better. It should also be noted Vernon has presented here before when he hosted "Hit Me Baby One More Time" for a summer run on NBC back in 2005.
  13. Has Music 4 gone out of the radio and TV jingle/theme production business altogether? They're updating their website for studio use and their production music, but they slowly trailed off new radio projects and haven't posted a new TV one in more than two months, with nothing new on the radio end since June.
  14. Surprised nobody mentioned Fearne abrubtly cutting off Chris during the handoff Thursday morning after she went on another whinge-fest about the bet relating to the upcoming "Student Week". After complaining (for the fourth day in a row) about having to wear the same clothes and basically bragging that she was lucky never having had to go to uni, Chris called her out on the fact that she changed her outfit shortly after her show started yesterday, and had also changed for events like book signings and TV tapings earlier in the week. He went on to tell her he was sick of the put-on celeb double standard and that what she was going through, with her book deals, clothing line, TV shows, and perfume launch, put her totally out of touch with what students go through at uni and that she had no right to complain. Fearne kept trying to Chris to stop talking, and eventually she dropped his studio feed altogether and launched into her first song with a blaringly loud "Radio One" ID. To me, she genuinely sounded angry.
  15. I guess it makes sense. I can remember Scott bringing on Comedy Dave and Matt Fincham for bits during weeks when Moyles was off and mentioning they were just sitting around the office. Maybe a byproduct of BBC belt tightening?
  16. I wasn't expecting Sara this morning as I hadn't seen the thread, so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard her voice. She had a great rapport with the team, and I thought she was funnier than usual with the gang around her. Made for a great drive in to work for me. I'm glad to hear she's in again tomorrow.
  17. Seems like they're really starting to clamp down on international page hits. I'm finding more and more things on the radio and TV sites I used to have access to but now don't. Wonder how much longer it'll be til we lose "listen again" access too?
  18. Didn't Scott scream the intro for that segment?
  19. I actually miss them. The station sounds really generic now without the four notes being played behind the "BBC Radio One" spoken liners and sound effects.
  20. I've found myself getting bored during "Oh!" myself too... the contestants are on for way too many days in a row and it's not the same without Beccy and Chappers sparring with one another. A lot of the scenarios have been played out way too much too. Anybody else feel like it might be the last legs for CPC as well? They spend more time talking to the players (who often both stay on for weeks now) and less time actually playing the game. Even the Roy Walker chats (my favorite bits) are getting short and dull now. It's almost like somebody at Radio 1's saying "no those games are too camp, they need to go" and they're being given a slow and painful death.
  21. I'm not sure if it's Americans not liking British culture and people, more that the bulk of folks here are just so US-centric in their thinking and ignorant of the world around them, especially as you get towards the middle third of the country. I don't think it's a specific anti-British bias here... just ignorance all around. That said, even in my own circle of friends I know plenty of people who tune into Radio 1 on Sirius and XM, and tons more who tune into BBC America and the other channels carrying British programming here. Shows like Top Gear and Doctor Who and the growing popularity of Premier League Football here are really starting to turn the tide even further. The nation as a whole doesn't take well to new game shows anymore... so it'll be about a week or two of Vernon and that'll be it. That is, if the show even hits air. Tons of pilots get filmed here and never see the light of day.
  22. If this show ever does materialize on ABC it won't last long. The track record for British presenters here isn't exactly great on mainstream networks. Ant and Dec failed spectacularly, Jimmy Carr lasted just a season with his game show, and I could go on and on. I like Vernon well enough, just don't think the rest of America will take to him.
  23. If he's in the Sirius studios it should wind up being nearly normal. They run top of the line studios so he'd be able to tap into their studio links to see all the computer systems, plus the BBC's got the studio cameras so he'd be able to see everyone live via closed circuit. He shouldn't miss too many tricks.
  24. Given Radio 1's ties with Sirius Radio in the US I'm guessing they're letting him borrow a studio for a few hours to do the show from there. They've only got a few dozen in their home base in Manhattan.
  25. Is this part of the fallout for Scott and Greg for the drunken call-in to Dev's show last week? There's no way this could've been planned.
