  1. I agree with GregJames94 - Mills' show has definately improved. I think he might have got complacent, spending so long in his old time slot. Also with regards to previous discussion, I dont think Moyles was cruel to Nick Grimshaw at all. He even asked his fans to be nice to him on his last show. I think its all just tongue in cheek banter.
  2. I think you are missing the concept! Radio 1 PAY the record companies royalties for paying the songs, not the other way round. Also the playlist is basically a opinion by production team of what should be played on Radio 1 to fit the brand image/target audience. But the record companies do visit to say why they think they should play their artists song, as the more popular the record company can convince them its going to be, the more popular itll be on radio, therefore more listenership hopefully blah blah blah. Hope this is helpful: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/videos/accessallareas/video/091209_aaa_playlist
  3. Not being funny or disrespectful Viv, but BBCR1 will be pleased at you switching over, its exactly what they want. No point bitching about it, the removal of Moyles, Whiley, Bowman etc is designed to make everyone aged 30+ to go somewhere else.
  4. What a ridiculous statement. Radio 1 has to pay out more money for royalties, the more music it plays. Although Chris Moyles is end of an era I am excited about what is coming. Its new, fresh, and exciting. Chris Moyles format was getting tired and the evidence shows that by drop in listenership. As MrDH says above, give him a chance for god sake! Everyone thought Chris Moyles wasnt going to be around long and look how far he got.
  5. Lol, DC. Chris Moyles is famous for doing what the hell he wants. I think hes entitled to play whatever he wants on the last show really. Regardless of the song being released in 2004, it was just fitting for the moment. They played Take That - Never Forget after they announced they were leaving and that was released in 1995! They also DEFINATELY werent allowed to show their twitter names as that is a massive confict of interest, on the impartial BBC, but did they care? To hell did they!
  6. He does look dreadful, yes! When you read the text underneath why he won "Employee of the Day (A Greg James feature), its because he is really ill and has still come into work. Ill/massively hungover, who knows?!
  7. I'm sure this must have been spotted before, but I did chuckle when I saw this pic of Scott Mills and he had obviously been reading Unofficial Mills at work! Harry (I'm relatively new to this forum so please excuse me if this has been posted before.)
  8. Scott is sitting down. I think its Neil Sloan the producer of Chart Show.
  9. Scott was flying back from Zante today, and Greg is in Paris (watching Coldplay) who are the natural deputisers who obviously werent able to do it. I too was quite suprised it was a) Huw and R1 thought it was acceptable to have Huw Stepens on air for 6 hours straight! (Its bad enough hearing him for 3 at the weekend!). I thought maybe Reggie was ill or had some kind of family emergency on, because from listening to Huw today it sounded like he had just found out and was super last minute as emergency cover for Reggie. In his defence, I think the chart is a quite complicated show to do, especially with timings and he did it brilliantly, and was FAR better at timing it then Reggie is. I put this down to Reggie spending too long admiring himself in the cameras, causing it to overrun!
  10. Does anyone know if there is any way of recording the red button feed on a sky+ box please?
  11. All this conversation about Dev being promoted from his early shift is rather terrifying. SURELY someone else finds him so irritating to listen to?! Why dont they just sack him off and get someone like that lad who won the Student Radio Awards to take his place/the weekend slot? Sorry if I am a bit contravercial, but I cant understand a situation where Dev will be promoted to a slot where quite a few people hear his voice!!
  12. Lol, I think you may have missed the point of these reshuffles. DJs age has everything to do with why people are being moved around, in order to hopefully bring the average listenership down. Dare I say it, I thnk Scott is soon to be under scrutiny.
  13. I think its more just down to coincidence that Greg has had 2 lone fridays off, one for a day at the Olympics and the other for Reading TV coverage, so easy just to get Danny Howard in for 1 day instead of muck up Nick Grimshaws routine, and especially useful that it is dance anthems those days. However After September 24th my prediction is that Greg will be cover for the Breakfast show and Danny Howard will be Gregs cover.
  14. I think you might be reading a bit too much into them!
  15. Yeah, but the whole joke is that the puns are very lame!
  16. Controversially, I actually think Greg's show is excellent! Sure, I was one of those people who were outraged at the swap and thought it would never work, but I acutally think he is really suited to drivetime now. If you compare him now compared to last year its like a completely different show. *runs and hides*
  17. It might be something to do with Tom Deacon being in Edinburgh for the fringe so unable to be the first choice cover host. I dont mind at all though, I find Tom Deacon quite unbearable to listen to! But maybe he is going to become the new cover? Probably a lot more popular then Tom Deacon. Someone earlier suggested that Matt Edmondson might do the 10pm-12am slot - can you really see him presenting that kind of music?!
  18. Does anyone have access to individual show data. Such as Cotton, Mills and Greg James' show figures each 3 months. I would be interested to see if Scott has increased the listenership in the 1-4 slot...
  19. Agree whole heartedly with this. Very well put.
  20. I've noticed on all the IB videos, when Scott is introducing the IB feature to begin with he is always writing something down. He's never really concentrating on what he is doing on the paper so I just wondered if anyone knew what an earth he was writing down or if it was just doodling?! Its been bugging me for ages! Harry
  21. I completely see what you mean, it definately does sound different. I imagine, in laymans terms, all the knobs and buttons are just configured differently for the voices there, to what they are in Yalding House at Radio 1, which is what the sound we are used to day in day out. I did notice the quality was particually bad on monday for Greg James' show and very odd sounding, but they appear to have fixed that for tuesday. But on other outside broadcasts, like Hackney Weekend, Chris Moyles Roadshow etc, the equipment they use seems to be a lot more limited and satalites etc involved, so I think that decreases the quality slightly. I'd be interested to hear someones opionion who has some authority on the matter!
  22. It says on Vernons wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernon_Kay#Radio) that he announced on 12th Feb that he wasnt renewing his contract come september?! Does anyone know anything about this? There is no cited reference to it on wikipedia. If that is the case, we better have Coxy on 2 days!
