  1. I mean that would be different as Radio 1 Xtra on their entertainment shows haven’t got a massive name that they poached from another station Kaylee Golding and Swarzy are poached from Kiss am sure but haven’t become massive personalities or not as by the time they came to 1X. I’m sure they are talented broadcasters but getting Rickie and Melvin to do it would be something that could help the station in listener figures. Although if Global did want to relaunch Galaxy or a blend of ‘Heart Dance’ and ‘Capital Xtra Reloaded they would be good for a station like that.
  2. I think Mollie presenting future pop could at least playlist wise if allowed her a feature of having a future pop track of the day or have a percentage of potentially even 20% of the playlist that would fit Future Pop in weekday show as a compromise of committing to appealing to a ‘youthful audience’
  3. I think that the schedule does need a wider age diversity like how I sense there is at other networks like Kiss and Capital I think with Rickie and Melvin in their forties and presenters mostly in late to mid thirties do think there needs a blend of a twenty something that is more gen z or zillenial at daytime whether thats weekend or weekday.
  4. She’s one of the biggest assets to the station that could have a more prolonged career at the station than a fair few of those who currently on daytime. One with Jordan’s departure could risk losing.
  5. True that. If he does get to take on a show permanently it would likely be when the next major presenter(s) leave daytime or even likely to leave weekends.
  6. If the new station after its planning and review stage passes its up and coming stages to get it to air of the oldies station. I think that Radio 2 should have a request show encouraging deep cuts and lesser played tracks on the station ensure the radio system is full of the 80s-00s rock, hip-hop and dance tracks that the station rarely plays giving opportunity to hear rave and dance tracks on the station from that era to grunge or nu-metal stuff.
  7. I think that Prodigy are now quite a 6 Music thing they do play them quite a bit in the rave forever show and some of the rave stuff and gets the odd daytime play.
  8. I do hope there is a podcast with a trio hosting they got plenty of people to make it work they got Shaun Keaveny doing a podcast only show that is associated to the Radio X brand which is an entertainment daily podcast. Global has been increasing their original podcast content I can think they would want Jordan North to be involved with that and capitalise on its podcasting boom.
  9. Plus if you want to listen to a news programme you wouldn’t go to Radio 2.
  10. The budget cuts have frankly been bizarre. We can see how Radio 2/ 1/ 1X/ 6M/ Asia N’s London programmes coming from the 8th of NBH is a budget cut with selling up shop at Wogan house. But taking Dance new Radio 1 station to DAB and Radio 2 and 3 getting new stations and the doubling down on duos and going for celebrity names. Cuts have been bizarre.
  11. I actually think the four dayer was Cooper’s doing
  12. I think like any controller of a station as big and with as diverse range of programming, reach and audience diversity like radio 1 it’s always going to be pros and cons. I’d say the BBC have the hardest stations to run and programme as no commercial station would have a rock show and a rap show on the station. Pro’s: - extension of the stations introducing programming with creating programming reflecting new rock and dance acts - creating new opportunities for new and emerging talent to contribute and be platformed by the station over the Christmas and New Year period and over set of Friday early morning show making firsts with first ever trans and non-binary people to present on radio 1 and having opportunities for blind, neurodivergent and wheelchair using presenters creating opportunities to access workplaces that otherwise have been hard to access. - Launching the Annie Nightingale Scholarship programme giving opportunities to support the careers and new emerging female and non-binary talent in the electronic and dance dj and production scene - having more female presenters on air whereas previously the schedule was much male dominated - creating a brand with the specialist programming that the station has long been associated with in playing new music from established names and new talent here and abroad with Future Pop, Dance, Alternative, Soul and Artists. Fully fledging the Future Sounds and the Hottest Record as the flagship show to bring them all together cons: - reduction of hours of programme playing new emerging music from multi-genres and supporting alternative and less mainstream talent and reverting to playlist programmes that are akin to a streaming service or a commercial network - linking to the first con the increase of playlisted shows like Radio 1 Happy, Radio 1 Anthems, Radio 1 00’s and Radio 10’s to repeats of Dance Anthems programmes from a Saturday in the overnight slots on a weekday to Power Down Playlist Monday-Wednesday - daytime playlist playing a lot more older music and the problem with hot re-occurents and overplay and repetition of tracks
  13. Drive i dont think is as big of a deal for capital fm because i think for say people in Cardiff to Birmingham and then London there are regional drivetime programmes not aa national show
  14. A part of me feels that Radio 2 Extra might not make it to air with the only presenters at Radio 2 that they would go for are Paul Gamboccini, Bob Harris, Tony Blackburn, Johnnie Walker and maybe Craig Charles. The current plan they have isn’t worth taking to air.
  15. Shouldnt be more than 1 other wise if still broadcasting beyond 2025 looking at eight years on breakfast and 2025 would feel like enough if it isnt this year.
  16. I do hope there is a memoir from either of them. It’s always good to get the inside story of the station.
  17. Unless he hasn’t looked at the contract and know what he signed up for. At least he should be a whole half an hour earlier.
  18. I see that’ and have to sense when time is Jordan leaving was a shock to this group but think Greg is capable of shocking some in this group with a near exit. With some of the features Greg has been doing for six years where unlike Grimmy he had switched things up continually in his tenure. The repetitive features for one could get boring for some may like the familiarity.
  19. I’m not supportive of the choice but anything specific are you inferring with the homework around Jamie Laing?
  20. Think James would work as he was a figure who would be at the starting point of his career much like Jordan North worked hard willing to climb the radio ladder by doing most work offered and learning on the job. What works for a presenter on radio 1 is not being made as a household name or a person before joining the station but becoming one by working at the station. The station would need to move quick if Global are giving their national brands much more variety in accents and voices from across the UK in hopes to boost its listenership outside of London. I think for Heart 00’s it would be good to have them give Chris Stark a weekly playlisted show even if it is voice tracked and think some of their playlist stations could do with that Ashton Merrigold was on Heart 00’s creating some presenter hosted shows on Global’s spin-offs could help them to boost listener figures and increase listenership on Global Player. So desperate for a re-design
  21. They tend to use the BBC B/W for any up and coming programmes scheduled before have a photo to go with the programme.
  22. I feel that it is quite possible that the station does lose more presenters and that the commercial capitalise on any potential changes in the networks programming whether that is looking at Capital Chilled including more down-tempo acoustic pop and R&B from Lana Del Rae, Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan to Frank Ocean and Pheobe Bridgers and getting someone like Jess Iszatt as possibly the first presenter on the station. Potentially after DJ Ace leaving for Kiss FM wonder if they will focus on levelling up their music programming and getting a big name of 1 Xtra and Radio 1 to follow him like Kenny All Star or Rampage and Heartless Crew to Kisstory. I think the stations Bauer owns are going to focus on additional playlisted stations but also attractive on-demand playlisted shows presented by presenters like DJ Ace for an on-demand experience so some names to really complete on with Sounds at the launch of Rayo could be one thing. In terms of entertainment and presenters who could host podcastable content is something they are looking at and why Global wants Jordan (as i assume will tell on Monday morn)
  23. Saying about taking bets on how long it would be before it will take before he is fired must’ve been super awkward.
  24. Yes can’t see breakfast. Unless there was situation where her contract wasn’t renewed or if she wanted a change from the early wake ups and working in a more flexible less permanent work schedule temporary to see other projects television and opportunities to cover and appear on some radio programmes much like Yinka Bokinni. I guess time will tell.
