  1. I assume probably 90 minutes show with mostly music not sure if she does read out text or tweets and feel it’s the thing that some content on bbc post 11 pm maybe pre recorded feel that’s possible for Radio 3s night tracks and of course some 6 Mu#ic content feel Radio 2 with OJ will be live think depends on type of music show
  2. I think they didn’t need to continue with the schedule changes as they have done I would say maybe yesterday done an half an hour Newsbeat or a short simulcast with Radio 4 for half an hour than extended bulletin later in day for at most half an hour and directed people to find on World Service or Radio 4 as think should’ve had chart on as usual kept usual Friday shows ditched 3pm party anthems and maybe kept Matt and Mollie on then for the duration of Friday after noon be willing to cross to Newsbeat reporter for any further think the station missed the interests of its audience
  3. I think it’s good for the station a youth station to have presenters on air that are on top of youth popular culture and able to talk about topical and cultural matters that are more relatable to the public think he came from an era when it seemed the station knew what meant by a youth demographic and out of daytime presenters actually interested in playing more newer music of alternative, hip hop, dance which reaches the Generation Z and represent a more youthful sound

  5. Must be for a live lounge introducing thing
  6. My thing is radio 1 still has got a lot to do to make it seem actually seen as an essential youth based service which deserves funding and for a young audience the late teens early twenties people of Gen Z to see it as worth its money. There’s still gaping holes for actually having a plurality of voices and much would be need answered as it would be a poor move if Aled within 5 years time done something radical it’s about being a distinct service from the private sector and radio 1 are doing it less and less and not offering as fair chance to competition or focus on some of the niches it would to actually deliver from different demographics under the title of a youth station. it is an issue with Radio 1, as they lack having Asian presenters on the station little interms of having Scottish northern Irish and welsh voices in key allotted slots seems very much an older millienial or than having some Gen Z presenters and still no abled presenters I also know still barriers exist for getting other LGBTQ presenters in and within it it needs to accept that if it did focus on embracing diversity by talent and merit than the current bias it can reach a more diverse audience and able to focus more on conversations and music that reaches a wider demographic and for more commercialised features like Anthems and just focusing on doing daytime shows not very different to its competition it could fulfil its purpose. It’s that we can expect better from the station and with the broadcaster BBC at large feeling like it doesn’t know what the oldest and the youngest want it’s one way of fixing that
  7. I concur just see there’s much more to be done still.
  8. Anyway how is it merit when it’s very much unexplained why more jobs aren’t being filled in the industry by a plurality of voices from different voices. It’s hardly merit if the odds are bias to often hiring white men and there’s less opportunities of marigalised and minority groups actually getting equal treatment
  9. I’m just highlighting the point is that the there could be people as equal talent or even more talent than there is you give little to say why Greg is somehow better talent I don’t think you will be able to find ghat many that feel radio 1 sounds like them it’s not the case if it seems majority of the population are so be it it’s about representation that is important for a PSB and not doing populist content personally do find bbc one often does too much interms of competition reality and more formats that seems like ITV
  10. Remember the station is a PSB and that being bit diverse wouldn’t alienate expanding beyond white male doesnt allienate the station isn’t commercial and has a responsiblity to be distinct and actually provide Puvlic service broadcasting not a populist station as you mauthing. It wouldn’t see the station shut but young people deserve a station that changes with a time and looks and sounds like them. I don’t think the issue neccasrily they are going to capital but think the station shouldn’t mind or accept that some would choose capital Oder them that’s about excepting the role of not being a commercial radio station just going for the chunk of the makers the station should be going for informative content that fills the remit of being a state funded public service broadcaster. and actually be willing to reach a new youth audience as there’s an issue is that radio 1 still doesn’t look or sound like young people. Why did you feel that someone like Dotty would be wrong choice?
  11. Thanks for agreeing to my point I feel like if you tune into stuff like Capital Xtra, Radio 1 Xtra, Kiss etc have some good talent emerging snd more diverse talent emerging that do definatley deserve a chance as the station could do more in appealing to new listeners who really feel like they underserved by the station and haven’t neccasrily listened to the station before and would want the station to sound like them. Than just going for an audience that have already tuned into radio 1 and finding it again as it’s not reaching any really new audience or actually proactively engaging with the youth audience. What I liked about when I tuned into radio 1 when was younger with Newsbeat some of the internet take over the early Nick Grimshaw breakfast show it had a tone of wanting to connect with the younger generation who are finding rsdio for the first time. with the ‘Where it begins’ tag line summed up something refreshing think it needs that again but with appealing to a broader range of youth audience as I think people want to feel seen or heard when the current demographic is seen or heard else where and is now closing into a Radio 2 audience that is becoming increasingly younger. Think the actually moves of being more radical were for the best otherwise what’s good with a station that says it’s a youth station with rarely changing its sound
  12. Think honestly think people try to get a place in the radio industry based on merit just there’s so many barriers especially with often still little diversity in management positions I think it’s case the BBC Sounds is also come under scrutiny the Dance stream and Radio 1 and 2 of sounding too much like their competitiors and not giving the commercial sector a fair chance as BBC dominates much of the market. Its not about shitting audience on but its the thing is station is a public service broadcaster not for profit and should not be for great competition its in the public not commercial sector. Think this view to treat radio 1 as a commercial station is actually giving too much in it seeming it’s not serving its purpose and isn’t an essential radio service it should be about having a public service broadcaster look like Britain and sound like it think people want to see representation otherwise you will have a generation growing up feeling they have a public service broadcaster that doesn’t sound or look like them or represent them and feel like they don’t need it. Should be more about bringing more informative information and focus on what is essential of a PSB and find that the radio industry do have many barriers as it’s often many of the same faces and people who are talented aren’t given a chance.
  13. But think it would be to assume they are less competent it’s about actually the station valuing other talent in the industry and recognising the stations problem with giving big time slots often to white male and abled presenters. Think I can’t see many of them at all on the station in 5 years it would be a sign of a station unwilling to involved. Think it’s not the stations position to be populist that’s something you leave to the private sector should be a plural of voices and allowing completion to have a fair chance. My feeling I felt that and I think some other young people felt that this county has a lot of young people who are non white female or non binary etc that in the industry don’t have equal opportunity with having same talent and willing to put in the effort. Think Radio 1 just doesn’t look like young Britain. why would you think let’s get a diverse line up on the station would mean less competent it’s not about tick boxes it’s about saying why is it pretty much still largely white male people fronting peak daytime shows like breakfast. When they actually could be giving some newer and exciting talent that brings something new to the scene like someone like Dotty from 1 Xtra now Apple would’ve been good. Think the ethos is that Radio 1 is a youth state and isn’t as youthful as it was or could be. Think I actually felt that the decisions under when Nick moved to breakfast helped the station actually tap into a younger generation at my age talking about more things that affect under thirties teens and twenty somethings and the heart of what a youth station meant with some of the decisions with tapping into social media getting the right guests and allowing for some more special Newsbeat editions tapped into something for a younger audience that seemed more fitting as the station seemed more tapped in to the trends and made more content that could be for that audience more of a talking point.
  14. Issue is Greg still has that remit and actually think is losing its core basis of being a youth station with that approach if goes to focusing on the older millennial think that think issue is for future they will not be able to get news presenter of news into the studio because Newsbeat will be out of Birmingham but think if wasn’t doing as cheesy features but did more interviews of a more interviews with celebrity than just odd feature as when he began doing Fridays few months back could’ve done stuff around talking to extended to artists who’ve got new music out and longer interviews and around new films or series coming out missing that.
  15. I don’t see why they leave more of the guests to the drive time slot rather than its flagship slot the breakfast show to actually focus on some areas of pop culture it’s demographic are interested in doing more extended conversation and interviews that think since Grimmy left it is lacking
  16. Think the duo did help but equally think after what would be almost ten years on air without having the freshness or sounding as more relaxed and coming across forced the creative struggle and dynamic would’ve been difficult after awhile but it is better if there are less guests to have a more of a team liked it when Nick Grimshaw would have Matt Fincham and Tina Da Healy and Ffiona producer think having that team on air does help as think that’s why think Kiss, Heart, Times, Radio X, Capital, etc have more of a team feel
  17. Sometimes you say to detest station because commercial rival it’s all about the competition. Not being the highest pay is still open season as still commercial rivals can drop an offer for the start to get him to move can’t see him go from breakfast to the weekend slots. I dropped out because how cringe and corny the breakfast show with him the helm began to sound. Many other stations managed to get guests involved with covid whether doing remote interviews... found it was lacking any way in doing a proper interview I just see the breakfast show becoming less and less for the Generation it supposed to serve. Think they definatley need to go radical with the schedule
  18. I can’t see many of them being there in five years do s you see Greg doing breakfast on radio 1 for 8 years with his salary made public and probably would need to revamp the schedule I can’t see him being there. I think the Breakfast show needs a revamp as it’s on a downwards spiral
  19. I think at the time I would’ve liked to seen the breakfast show go to a non white person a femal presenter Dotty now on Apple Music who did the 1 Xtra show wouldve been a good one think at the time did look foraged for the new breakfast show but at same time did feel like an odd choice to put Greg there. massively over rated as a presenter tho think he would recieve flack from Radio 2 crowd the same who find Zoe equally unlistenable. I wonder if RAJAR stats come back could show a decline for Greg’s breakfast. Since same much of the same old.
  20. Cant agree more I think I would like to hear Jordan actually do an evening show like Grimmy did then parachuted to breakfast would actually make breakfast about 0600-0900 or atleast end earlier Greg didn’t mind him too much on drive think honestly if found the That’s what he said podcast again liked it when was like 15 or 16 but now feel far too cringe and breakfast show feels out of touch with its audience far too cheesy. Greg does slip into today’s radio 2 feel of corny broadcasting his breakfast show for one or two months worked as a novelty but after while listened every once in a while to the odd bit but felt more slipping into 6music unpopular opinions some of true features around it are cringe the odd bit is alright. But would rather listen to Lauren on 6 if up at that time.listen to the odd bit in sixth form of this breakfast show but didn’t have as good feel think it misses having more guests. But breakfast is a poison chalice of all slots no breakfast radio feels like great radio.
  21. Yes can’t see them splitting but don’t have a clue what’s it is going to be like for the foceable think see dance anthems with Charlie running for atleast 3-4 years. Don’t see a major split of them happening for a while see Rickie and Melvin will be working together on radio and in other realms likely for decades to come where ever that work is be as see them having bit longer in rsdio 1 but maybe at most one or two years left in slot but think bout the move all what is offfered and what suits them. But think the evening time slot will last a short longer but think as one of weekend or daytime slots change they may have a more daytime slot
  22. Think it could been a matter of more flexible contracts and timing or maybe better money offer maybe the nighttime slot would allow them to easily take up more tv or DJ work without clashing with Kiss FM schedules did find it an odd jump at the time know of course radio 1 is bigger but not to be anywhere in peak daytime was an odd shift and has the flagship show over there at kiss but Ben Cooper at Bauer is atleast making kiss sound bir more complitive with kiss nights and DJs like A track doing stuff
  23. I suppose do have a long career before Charlie joined them think it will be the case possibly when clubs and festivals open again there maybe more times when it’s just Rickie or Melvin and when may take the odd dance anthems. Think it’s a wonder when Rickie and Melvin are up for a better slot since been over from Kiss for a few years and are quite renowned names could possibly take over drive after Grimmy leaves or replace Matt and Mollie if they get a daytime slot. Think it will be thing could capital dance ever offere her a more prime time slot but also want to know is if they prepping Sarah Storey for joining the R1 Dance probably if Charlie doesn’t go capital Dance she could have a more specialist dance show. Though I think it would be good if they chucked them to do the three of them do bank holiday breakfast and the odd breakfast cover
  24. I think not much is different and think to spend money on moving out of London to the licence fee payer isn't worth it BBC 3 it not about being popular their audience is naturally going elsewhere shouldn’t be about chasing numbers I don’t think opening the channel up again not many young watch. Not many young watch it. It might’ve not been as popular as it was on air but was the idea of it coming back popular only with the older millennials that now moved on to prime time bbc one and two stuff the issue is the BBC is doing too much in terms of decisions of late too much of private sector that isn’t worth the time or money. Issue is these days with the amount of marketing of the BBC it’s not helping to defend itself spending on stuff a private company would think it’s harder to compare c4 and bbc on this due to finding models and the greater costs of these decisions
