  1. I just feel like if he’d move to daytimes it would be an odd if they just move to daytime entertainment and mainstream playlist as he’s strong music specialist broadcaster feel if he’s moved to daytime he should be able to bring that format to it. Feel like both Vick and Katie are suited to broadcasting together and in a conversationalist format and see Arielle as more of the music broadcaster so think i5 wouldn’t be use of etalents. yes it maybe a popular view Greg (maybe strong) on breakfast but think it helped Grimshaw before he moved to daytime prime slot in being in that later slot as there’s that more creative freedom. but I find the need to have a different style for daytime more generic conventional style for daytime is a bit tired
  2. I think I can imagine that Radio 2 and Radio 1 would mark that with specialist programming possibly could see Greatest Hits Radio doing something for it but think Scott Mills and maybe few ex chart presenters may present a few series on Radio 2 for it. In terms of chart interviews think there was something missing when got rid of the chart show thing that they did on IPlayer think Jack and Dean some youtubers presented that. Think maybe they could do some interviews and run downs after the chart for IGTV, Facebook Live etc and maybe a 15-20 minute short podcast running down the chart with some interviews and bits about the song
  3. Cant say entirely agree with you feel Jordan on drive is bit too as expected personally would put him short period on late till him on breakfast maybe? Maybe with a team with one other presenter interesting you put Jess on earlies do feel she would join the station now would personally keep Vick and Katie together still as a team. Would scrap some of the movie, pop anthem mixes overnight. Don’t know about move to Jack Saunders to daytime but if it was case of doing a specialist show in daytime that would be good. Think would definately think having fee Mac on the station would be good don’t know whether would have her doing a chillest show. One thing I’d definatley interms of music programming would do is add an artist in residence show bit like the artist take over but one artist for matter of a month or six or so episodes presenting an hour at a time of new music they like or music they inspired by or listen to when chilling out could try with Young Blud, AJ Tracey, Ollie Alexander from Years and Years, Wolf Alice something that think would deliver unique content and listened to a bit on sounds would bring back the hype chart and the music review show
  4. Do like chilled music and the chill out section and playlists and sounds don’t think I’d dedicate whole day works for station like six music some times makes sense to have some more chilled tracks on Sunday morning in breakfast if had a bit of a Saturday out in usual times or with pubs reopening or people who again usual times have the odd house party and with Sunday being day of rests so think nice for breakfast shows and the evening slots to carry chilled music but feel would want to chuck in some playlist tracks and some stuff would be played in best new pop. Think would kept with usual playlist and shows but maybe do the odd thing with afternoons play the odd live lounge and session tracks. used to like it when they did a bangers day of tracks selected by Scott and Chris
  5. Sometimes for news go for Times Radio as like Matt Chorley’s show or catch the evening paper reviews or such dip in time to time. Find the LBC News rotating live news is good to dip in to follow a breaking news story as did with the ALBA Scottish party launch or a bit around impeachment and inauguration stuff. Personally it’s LBC News, Capital Dance and Radio X over on global. Though if Capital Xtra Reloaded had more themed shows of presenter shows playing some Garage, Grime, U.K. Funky, Jungle, Gospel, Slow down soul Rnb with odd Mowtown, Dancehall, socca etc with some presenters like Jenny Francis and some others that would been heard on rinse and choice the station that came from it could be a more of a station that had some buzz for those who like black music and who feel since capital Xtra some of the sounds have been lost from commercial radio bit more verity. It’s like interms of playing more from the deep cuts and exploring the scene of dance music Heart Dance could do more to be a classic dance station felt like Dave Pearce or some others who may have done dance anthems years ago would be good for that station
  6. Agree with you on Capital Dance it is a solid and good station feel it’s the one where the presenters seem to have the most creative freedom and isn’t the most restricted feel they potentially take a bit from the audience the Radio 1 dance stream could’ve had wouldn’t be suprised if they ever have some sort of residency or feature mix but would be good to see where they go. Absolute enjoyed their bank holiday indie disco that was good was floating between Radio X and Absolute. Possibly feel that Absolute could do good with more themic or themed playlist shows or have with one or two of their station maybe flagship some specialist shows or some more presented by artists, album listening parties or sort of audio documentaries. Feel with Greatest Hits and Jazz FM right now stations over Bauer are sounding quite good
  7. do agree lack of uniqueness I find that with Greg’s breakfast show arguably but don’t get the matter of the idea that Greg is a bigger name as Clara. I don’t get how when would’ve been with same features at previously allotted time slot would’ve been any more different for the listener experience I find if having maybe a breakfast show with 3 hours duration and at between 6-9 seems more when people sre actively getting up and start the day can deliver distinct quality fresh entertaining wake up then would think a show that would be more music driven and maybe also embedded stuff played on best new pop and specialist music could follow as it would be delivering.a mid morning music show distinct from competition and actually keep bit more of that peak audience if speaking to big names and dropping new tracks as think something like that would be great especially with New Music Friday keep it exciting even potentieilly get Jack Saunders/Annie/Clara. Then with that could afford the Drive slot or Afternoon feature few listener fsvourite anthems know sometimes online Twitter or other social media’s want station to play more new music from favourite artists or some artists that don’t get played on the station who are coming from young people feel it could be a way of giving something that is in a morning not like what any other station does.
  8. I’m intrigued to know if you or those around you - friends, family aged 13-30 think the bbc is doing good enough at reaching that audience or could they do better. As I do wonder beyond this platforms what do people think - is the content from BBC sounds and iPlayer worth the license fee or does it need improvement? I feel that with our generation (Generation Z) we may not want to pay a mandated license fee or watch live television that much so do wonder how stuff like reopening bbc three and the sound of radio 1 and 1Xtra is getting it right at reaching generation who are going to more often alternative media
  9. But is it delivering for its audience just don’t see a necessity to adjusting Greg James breakfast show time as feel like that Clara is equally a big name on the station since shows that time relatively the same it was a pointless decision if it isn’t a content or format change when adjusting the time or broadcasting Annie’s show which I would’ve moved to more of a morning 9-11 am show but that’s what I’d do. Think there wasn’t real purpose in it when over night is delivering less and less for its listeners should atleast do more on actually having more specialist allotted time to 3 AM extended by an hour otherwise there is a loss in delivering new and emerging music. Better than playing the sort of hits mixes that they do
  10. But as said it was about time that they moved Annie’s specialist music show to an earlier time still don’t get why an later breakfast start and end as it doesn’t make an overall difference to the listener. It was long over due to have specialist in corporates in the week but did find the start and end times of other daytime shows means without change to the actual content or format of the show that listeners would have to adjust to new start and ends it still think to some listeners an odd to switch the end of Scott’s show and that Thing is their listeners in terms of demographic would be the school, university, college, apprentice and start up and early in the career. Think less needs to be around the start end times but building content and adapting it to provide more interesting and engaging slot within the schedule
  11. I’m gutted that she’s not on a radio station any more when she was doing the music review show is was when I was really getting into what the station has to offer interms of different programming think she could’ve stayed at virgin longer as I would like to hear her on a music station maybe if she’d ever return there absolute or Radio X she’s definatley missing from being on a music station as I would listen to her.
  12. I feel like it was an essential move to move Annie Mac to more earlier slot as do think there needs to be more mix of specialist shows and specialist songs played within peak listening times. But to start and end the breakfast show so late seems odd
  13. I personally found he was good in breakfast it is a tough slot to do the poison chalice of all radio shows. But think some of the suggestions of moving him to later in the evenings are odd as he is one of the few who do actually seem in touch with youth popular culture and and engages with entertainment news and does feature most guests out of all daytime shows
  14. Yes felt that Radio should have resumed to usual much earlier as you said evening prime BBC Two should’ve been able to show entertainment formats like quiz shows or some cultural entertainment highlights. Think there was an issue with BBC Four off as was to air a woman’s football match as bbc on more secondary tier channels should be able to air. Felt would’ve been fair to cancel party anthems yesterday afternoon did a bit of light presenter work and play some soft pop and kind of work on engaging with listeners on how they find the kind of change in atmosphere. As would been good to have done more of a newsbeat special then had some sound links to say for more view on the BBC News channel or BBC R4. Chart could’ve aired slightly later. Today as Hitlist and quiz shows and entertainment resumed on the channels so should the usual programming as know R2 listeners would’ve missed not being able to listen to pick of the pops. Found myself flicking over to Capital Dance as they have presenters on air with upbeat dance. Did see it was odd to not had rap show or 1 Xtra take over in usual format and Rock show cancelled think there will be an issue with extension of politicising the playlist and wrongly assuming the tone of the playlist that is needed as think people still want their choice and alternatives
  15. Agreed think it’s also could’ve helped if sometimes address bad news days or the tone of news that feels quite alien in addressing that feeling. Mind you on certain days of begining of lockdown in the first and when they introduced a second or third and reached certain sad milestones could’ve done abit of life hacks like content maybe the odd phone in get intouch as I think BBC could seem more resourceful in using radio 1 for a blend of escapism but that companionship where in light hearted ways can have important conversations around well-being And mental health. As if there is something maybe sad in the news that young people are reacting to or stuff that is being discussed within the young age bracket could be brought in more in the station. I think like interms of music radio 1 could’ve had songs that feel up beat and when something seems to be that it been a difficult moment news wise sound play some songs listeners find up lifting and provide a more soft tone that the audinece like from their presenters
  16. I see what you mean when it’s a repeat and already on sounds anyway think in shows on local radio to avoid repeats I think sometimes listeners wouldn’t mind hearing a new band from their local patch outside of introducing every now and then. Dunno whether they haunted capital throwback since heart sometimes ended up playing similar music in the hits or capital Xtra did but think on a Sunday or Saturday daytime it is something they could at least do more pop hits of this century something that doesn’t sound exactly like radio 1 anthems or heart radio some sort of what was on the big top 40
  17. So it is a possilbity that it could often be pre recorded and possibly more so since Huw left
  18. I know they always have like a soft pop playlist in hand as back up as used for terror attacks previously but I know some was saying that there could be some offerings of escapism rather than thinking a light distraction from the news is distasteful as I understand of course why bbc would have taken some stuff of earlier in the day but should’ve resumed bit earlier in my opinion. like anything like Have I Got News For You if Radio 4s News Quiz is scheduled would be bad taste or potentially could land in hot water but felt music stations could resumed bit more quicker. Do see it is difficult for news organisation but saw complaints in the drove and think it didn’t reflect what the listener would’ve wanted.
  19. I assume probably 90 minutes show with mostly music not sure if she does read out text or tweets and feel it’s the thing that some content on bbc post 11 pm maybe pre recorded feel that’s possible for Radio 3s night tracks and of course some 6 Mu#ic content feel Radio 2 with OJ will be live think depends on type of music show
  20. I think they didn’t need to continue with the schedule changes as they have done I would say maybe yesterday done an half an hour Newsbeat or a short simulcast with Radio 4 for half an hour than extended bulletin later in day for at most half an hour and directed people to find on World Service or Radio 4 as think should’ve had chart on as usual kept usual Friday shows ditched 3pm party anthems and maybe kept Matt and Mollie on then for the duration of Friday after noon be willing to cross to Newsbeat reporter for any further think the station missed the interests of its audience
  21. I think it’s good for the station a youth station to have presenters on air that are on top of youth popular culture and able to talk about topical and cultural matters that are more relatable to the public think he came from an era when it seemed the station knew what meant by a youth demographic and out of daytime presenters actually interested in playing more newer music of alternative, hip hop, dance which reaches the Generation Z and represent a more youthful sound
  22. 23. Must be for a live lounge introducing thing
  24. I’m aged 20 didn’t mind at all
  25. My thing is radio 1 still has got a lot to do to make it seem actually seen as an essential youth based service which deserves funding and for a young audience the late teens early twenties people of Gen Z to see it as worth its money. There’s still gaping holes for actually having a plurality of voices and much would be need answered as it would be a poor move if Aled within 5 years time done something radical it’s about being a distinct service from the private sector and radio 1 are doing it less and less and not offering as fair chance to competition or focus on some of the niches it would to actually deliver from different demographics under the title of a youth station. it is an issue with Radio 1, as they lack having Asian presenters on the station little interms of having Scottish northern Irish and welsh voices in key allotted slots seems very much an older millienial or than having some Gen Z presenters and still no abled presenters I also know still barriers exist for getting other LGBTQ presenters in and within it it needs to accept that if it did focus on embracing diversity by talent and merit than the current bias it can reach a more diverse audience and able to focus more on conversations and music that reaches a wider demographic and for more commercialised features like Anthems and just focusing on doing daytime shows not very different to its competition it could fulfil its purpose. It’s that we can expect better from the station and with the broadcaster BBC at large feeling like it doesn’t know what the oldest and the youngest want it’s one way of fixing that
