  1. James Cusack is a particular one I hope they hold onto in a Jordan North type role (before he gained Sunday mornings). He's covered across the weekend, and although they still try and class it as the weekend... he's covering the Friday afternoon show in a few weeks, which is still a weekday slot. I don't think he's covered early breakfast yet though.
  2. I assume they'll update it closer to the time.
  3. 21:00-22:00 on Easter Monday now listed as: 15 years since Favourite Worst Nightmare Arctic Monkeys on Radio 1 Celebrating Arctic Monkeys' second album - Favourite Worst Nightmare, released in 2007.
  4. Yes, he's this month's Friday early breakfast presenter.
  5. They did the same kind of thing with This Morning a couple of years back, and it was obvious then. It is Scott's birthday so I couldn't tell at first if they were just being silly today... But it's obvious now. Did Arielle and Greg sound any 'different' ttoday
  6. Scott & Chris are acting odd now too. Got to be something to do with Saturday Night Takeaway...
  7. Bangers is being played early today. It's not often they move it from 14:40.
  8. They do it annually, which is enough. I wasn't suggesting replacing the Radio 1 Relax day on the bank holiday Monday, but they did it on the Saturday last year. I'm just talking from a personal point of view, but I do look forward to it, and it generates a lot of listener interaction.
  9. Urgh. I really couldn't listen to them the last time they were on. It was actually painful to listen to imo. Presumably one massive plug for their podcast. I really don't understand why they can't use the opportunity for previous Christmas/Friday EB to cover instead. Feels like a wasted opportunity. Would make sense than Jamie & Spencer, and Scarlett Moffatt randomly being paired up with Katie Thistleton (who is great on her own anyway). No sign of a 10 hour takeover over the Easter Bank Holiday, unless they're holding it back for one of the bank holiday weekends later in the year. It would be a shame if they've ditched it for good (hopefully not).
  10. I assume it'll change closer to the time but they have both the lunchtime and teatime Newsbeat listed for Good Friday, which being a bank holiday.. won't be the case.
  11. Surely 'in theory'... the logical cover for drive if Vick and Jordan are ever off at the same time is Katie Thistleton, who is the main dep on drive for both of them anyway. If they insist on a duo, stick Dean on with her. He's not done any cover since that week in for Scott alongside Katie.
  12. As good as it would be... I think Radio 1 have moved on from The Killers. They've firmly made the transition to 'Radio 2' artists
  13. Not 100% but I'm in the Midlands so don't want to pass up the opportunity to go with it being fairly local so it'll be a shame if I miss out on tickets.
  14. This has been discussed numerous times before. I'm sure he's more than capable (he's equal to Scott on 5live as a co host) but I'm sure if he wanted to or the bosses wanted him to after all these years, it would've happened. The dynamic works well, and personally I like when someone else comes in on the show. It's been a while since it's happened as S&C are both off at the same time nowadays. I used to enjoy the dynamic between Chris and Matt Edmondson, and later Jordan when they used to sit in.
  15. She's done bullitens before, and she's been doing the Asian Network afternoon bullitens when they split them last year. I assume that means that AN will no longer have the seperate bullitens, and ALL of them will be simulcast again?
  16. There's been a fair few 'new names' reading bullitens recently I've noticed. Rebecca Swash, Mitch Mansfield and Jordan Kenney to name a few.
  17. Yup. He's been on since at least 2010 reading the weekend bullitens/ deputising on the main programme and weekday bullitens. No doubt we'll be hearing more Christian Hewgill and Calum Leslie from now on
  18. Jordan and Vick spoke to him briefly after the 16:30 bulliten about it, and he mentioned it at the end of tonight's 15 minute programme.
  19. Ben Mundy is presenting his last Newsbeat this afternoon. Sounds like he's been promoted to an off air role or to wider BBC News. Christian Hewgill would be a good replacement for the main 15 min programmes/afternoon bullitens...
  20. That's if Helen Thomas dares make a huge change to daytime. Most listeners over there are very adverse to change. You should see some of the negative comments for Scott covering Ken Bruce (some of which are very uncalled for!) or the recent change to Paul O Grady's Sunday show. There is no doubt about it that Scott will end up on Radio 2, and I think it will be a clean break (leaving the chart as well) but it won't be yet.
  21. I doubt they will shift early breakfast and breakfast back. The amount of listeners peaks later now, since COVID... It makes sense to have Greg on between 10 & 10:30 than between 06:30 and 7am (although when I was up early enough, I used to love how random the first half hour was). It does seem a bit early to announce these changes, but I don't see any need to change up the daytime schedule when it's changed a lot over the past few years (both weekdays and weekends). There's keeping things fresh... And then there is changing for changing sake. If you move around the schedule too much, you risk annoying or confusing the listener.
  22. Lots to unpack. The specialist shows have been shuffled around a lot over the past few years. Mollie King gaining what is effectively a specialist slot is surprising. Although it does reinforce Radio 1's commitment to new music and new artists. My first thought was Future Sounds already covers a broad range of new pop music... But I suppose it'll do the same as Future Artists, artists they champion will feed through to FS, then potentially onto daytime. I don't listen much after 7pm... hopefully it's a live broadcast. Radio 1 has simulcast 7pm on Saturdays for many years.. so a little surprising it's going back to seperate shows. I've only ever listened to the Soundsystem once on BBC Sounds out of curiosity... But the bits I've heard of Jeremiah, it's a great promotion to the heart of the Saturday night schedule. Good to see a mostly dance focus on Saturdays again (with the D&B show moving there, nice to see Charlie Tee get her foot in the door at R1 after some cover stints) It makes sense to move the Rock Show away from 9pm on a Sunday. A lot of the audience will have access to BBC Sounds... if they can't listen live on a Monday. It used to be on in the dead of night for many years anyway, before being moved to 7pm. I can imagine it's very jarring having the Rock show next to the Chillest Show. The Indie show will be a slightly better transition. Personally, I'd have the Indie show followed by The Chillest Show.
  23. I thought I'd set up a new thread to discuss the latest changes announced to specialist shows to save clogging up the chatbox. I can't seem to post a link on here for some reason so a summary of the changes: Mollie King to host a new show called Radio 1's Future Pop Thursdays 8pm-10pm Daniel P Carter's Rock Show moving to Monday nights 11pm-1am, followed by new show BBC Introducing Rock, fronted by Alyx Holcombe (1am-2am), followed by 'Future Alternative' with Nels Hylton (it's worded as a 'playlist' so I assume this show is a BBC Sounds curated playlist). Radio 1's Soundsystem with Jeremiah Asiamah moves to 7-9pm on Saturday nights, Drum & Bass show moves to 11pm-1am on Saturdays, Charlie Tee to take over. René Lavice to leave the station after 5 years. 1xtra Takeover with DJ Target will no longer simulcast on R1. The Indie Show with Jack Saunders moves to Sundays (9pm-11pm).
  24. She covered Trevor Nelson one night last year (I think it was during the summer when she was covering the extended mid morning slot on Radio 1 as well so she was on 1 and 2 in the same day) too.
  25. That's quite an interesting one. She's usually on Jazz FM, and has done/does work for another Bauer brand, Scala (classical station).. although she's been doing a lot of cover work for 6 music. I don't recall her popping up on Radio 1 before, although I'm happy to stand corrected. That's quite a versatile collection of stations to work across. It's not often they parachute in DJ's who've not been on before to cover 'daytime' shows. In the case of early breakfast, we've seen previous Christmas presenters cover (more than often Sam & Danni, or that week's Friday presenter).
