  1. Forgive me if this has been answered already, elsewhere. Just something I'm curious about.

When they 'extend' the actual record into an 'instrumental section' (to talk over, afterwards), how is this done?

1/ With their own 'vocal-removing' technology?

2/ By getting cover bands to make something that will sound very similar?

3/ By receiving extra tracks from the record companies, for that purpose?

4/ By clipping instrumental parts from the record - or a 'B-Side'/ '12"' type alternate version of it??

Whatever the answer, I think there's an over-reliance on it - but that's a different topic!!

Gutted if there's no 1940's. I was gonna request George Formby When I'm Cleaning Windows, and dedicate it to all the 1970's whippersnappers. Telling them this is real music, not your T-Rex nonsense or Garry Glitter.

I've always wanted to do a show called 'From the Forties To The Noughties' ,,,

  3. Browsing it now - Gets off to a good start with the 'Whole Lotta Love' theme tune!

And Clara doing her (perfectly pleasant) TV voice again (Unlike ... The RADIO one ?? - With the SENSELESS dynamics and rising inflections all over the place ???!!! ) .......

James was a great listen doing the chart while I was driving home. More chatty and natural ..

Whisper it, folks, but ... Every time someone stands-in for Jack Saunders, the show has improved.

Credit where it's due - Every time JS has stood-in for Clara Amfo, that's also improved matters - but that's quite a low bar!

As said before - I think the “show outside London” bit was the single biggest driving force there.

Whereas driving force should have been ensuring that there wasn't too marked a drop in quality!

  6. Yes, that has been touched on before, in other threads -

Either go full 'muso' with interesting facts about the making of the records themselves etc ... Or incorporate it into a 'light entertainment' format (shout-outs from someone dancing in their kitchen etc) - The 'hybrid' approach doesn't really work ...
