I think both Chris and Jordan said they'd be at the wedding

Thanks @Jono - I must have missed that. I know it’s likely to be a fairly private do, but I’m secretly hoping for some Anthea Turner chocolate bar style publicity at the last minute 😆

    Maybe with Calgon though!

  2. I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.

It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.

Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.

yeah, I could hear everything without a problem. It was pretty impressive. Hopefully they release it. I’m a pretty casual listener to the podcast and I really enjoyed it

Thank you 🙂 I’m really impressed they managed to make it work! Glad you enjoyed it too, definitely hoping to see it at some point

  4. I would definitely pay to watch online.

I did. Took a solo trip to the cinema. It was really good. Jordan kept telling everyone he wasn’t sacked from R1. I won’t say much more incase folk are going to see the rest of the tour. I enjoyed it tho

Sounds like fun! Could you hear and see everything on stage clearly in the cinema? I thought they must have had an impressive camera and sound set up to make it happen

Did anyone go to the Help I Sexted My Boss events last night?

I wanted to but none of my friends are GnDivas. Was tempted to book a solo cinema trip but I didn’t in the end

They teased on the podcast that it may be available for all to watch at some point, I would love to see it

  6. I understand that representation is important. And I can't speak for the LGBTQ+ community. But, as a woman in my mid 30s, I have seen a massive shift towards 'having more women' in every industry/organisation in my lifetime. I have always felt that it should be on merit and capability to carry out a role effectively, rather than just filling a role as a specific gender.

Women can be fantastic at everything, but on a personal level I would not want to be hired, for example, as a firefighter  just because I was the only female candidate. I am 5 foot nothing and could not carry you out of a burning building.

  7. I really like Rylan, and as much of a fun idea it would be to have Scott and Rylan together, I think Rylan is too much of a main character.  Scott needs a side-kick rather than a full on co-host I think. That’s why he and Chris worked so well, Scott steered the show, and Chris was the perfect person to have alongside him.

I don’t religiously listen to Rylan’s show, but when I do catch it, it’s perfect weekend energy. He has a very warm presenting style too, but something makes me think he and Scott together every day would be a bit too much.

  8. When Scott and Chris announced their departure from R1, I remember there was lots of speculation about who would take over the 1pm slot. Matt and Mollie were talked about a lot on here, and at the time I really didn't rate them as a replacement.

A few years on, I see that I was totally wrong. They are such a good pairing, and it's the same kind of duo as Scott and Chris, in that they are real life friends, who spend time together in their real lives, which really does come across on air. True friends having a laugh together, and everyone is invited is how it feels to me now.

I never thought about it before, but I agree with @coffeeandgin that Mollie is the Scott of the duo - pop obsessed and maybe a litte ditsy, but so funny, and in need of someone to anchor to or bounce off.  It seems that Matt is the kind of Chris of the duo then in that comparison, the one with the ideas, but also needs another person to make the magic happen.

I know I'm outside of the R1 demographic, and maybe Dean and Vicky were meant to be younger and fresher, but I'm sure in my younger years I would have preferred to listen to two people who had a genuine connection and could really make each other laugh, as well as have the listeners laugh along. That was the Scott and Chris factor for me, and I think the only pair that come close to that now are Matt and Mollie.

  9. I quite quickly gave up on Scott’s show on R2 as I realised it wasn’t my kind of vibe. I do listen to the Scott Mills weekly to catch up, because I still think Scott is great, but there is just something missing (for example, he played out some clips recently of the old sleep recording app from the R1 days, and didn’t play ‘go and open the window Garry’ - or if he did, it didn’t make it to the podcast.) I don’t see them changing it now or making it any ‘younger’ than it is.

Matt & Mollie in the afternoon is something that I’m really looking forward to. They are such an interesting and funny listen. It has given me a different dilemma though, as 1pm has been the perfect time for me to catch up on the Capital breakfast show and takes me perfectly to the end of my working day, so now I’ll probably have to forego listening to that and stick with R1 for Matt & Mollie. These shows need podcasts because it’s already giving me fomo.

  10. You have both presented together before your show on Capital. Have you spent time together as friends since, or is the reunion like getting to know one another all over again?

I’m a long time listener in my mid 30s and now outside the R1 target audience age… Chris is into barbecuing and Jordan is into air frying, have you both noticed a change in the other since the days of R1? And are you under any pressure to be on trend at Capital?

  11. Since Capital has a reputation for being very slick, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how that is achieved and what it feels like to work to such a standard?

Considering you both worked at R1 before, what are the biggest differences in production between them and Capital?

Despite the ‘slickness’ on air, it sounds like you’re having a good laugh as mates, do you have to rein yourselves in at all, given how well you all know eachother?

  12. Fantastic 👏

loving the new breakfast show so far! Jordan, Chris and Sian are really natural together, but I won’t always be able to listen to the full show. Are there any plans for a podcast/best bits of the breakfast show for those of us who have fomo please?

  13. I listened back to this morning's show this afternoon, I thought it was sounding great.  Things are naturally comfortable between Jordan, Chris and Sian. Funny features and links.  The ads would probably start to grate after a while, but they weren't as jarring as I thought they would be, considering I've never listened to Capital for any lenght of time before really.

I agree about the weird track edits - some of them sound really off.  I do like that there's less dance music than R1 though, a good mix of older stuff too. I noticed they were chatting about young farmers and and Jordan and Chris both quipped that you don't have to be young to listen. Little dig at R1 I thought.

I will probably be sticking with Greg for the most part, but it's nice to have a more than decent alternative on days where R1 has an all day danceathon or something else I'm not keen on happening. I hope Jordan does really well there after the way he was taken off his R1 show. He's sounding at home so it's a good start.

  14. I wasn't able to listen this morning, I'll have to listen back as I'm interested to see what the chemistry was like between Jordan, Chris and Sian. And whether Jordan naturally slid into main presenter mode at a new station.

I just saw the clip of the marching band on Insta, and they really have gone all out for it. It was like a much bigger version of Greg's red arrows when he started his breakfast show.

The town crier was very much a Chris Stark classic I thought, and gave me flashbacks of all those sorts of things he did on Radio 1.

I am a huge fan of Greg, but given how much I miss the pairing of Scott and Chris, if Jordan and Chris turn out to be as good a duo I could be swayed. I wish there was a podcast!
