Wow. This news both surprises and baffles me. Surely Radio 1 should be making changes before all the usual presenters get back around Christmas time, so they're all ready for the new year (Jan 1st). Sporadically announcing "Jameela is being replaced", "Scott might leave", "Zane is leaving", "Phil is getting more airtime", etc seems strange. It's nice to keep it fresh though, and while I respect the Radio 1 Gods (aka Ben Cooper and co.) decision, I feel it was a bold (see what I did there?) move. RIP Zane Lowe, Radio 1 Presenter / Future Apple Employee. You will be sadly missed by all.

It'd the kind of thing that Scott would mock relentlessly. Perhaps it's considered a bit too personal on-air, but Scott has only just came back... I'm sure the baby banter will start eventually. Sidenote - I cannot imagine Chris as a dad. Whoah...

If he leaves, the forum will become a bit outdated! That's not all I'm worried about, obvs.

Great! While I'm aware that it's legally dubious, I reckon you should upload full shows rather than edited-out-music ones. Do you physically have to edit out each song after you've downloaded the show?

Luckily for me, a lovely BBC insider sent me a Radio 1 lanyard and badge! I also have the full signed collection of the Radio 1 DJ cards.... I'm happy.

Hi all, The BBC have launched a Radio 1 Opinions tool (known as R1OT) which it describes as a way to "measure social opinion" as an event is happening, and have the results of that vote affect the programming alongside it. Each vote will translate into an online character, with users of the site dropping into the crowd. The best responses will feature on-air, and Radio 1 producers will be monitoring the output. This project has been launched under the new version of BBC's "Labs" site, which is called BBC Taster. On this site, you can check out and have a go with some of the BBC's new ideas and pages before they go out properly, rate them, and then you have the ability to share them on social media. They are all pretty crap though. Fair enough, but... I dunno, it seems a bit blurgh. They should change the schedule in time for 2015, rather than September IMO, but that's not too important. I agree with Greg that the jingles are too "serious", not fun enough like Moyles'.

She did a lot more shoutouts and her links were personal to her rather than generic and samey. My hat goes off to her; the chart is a tricky job to master and she didn't join the BBC too long ago. RE overall sound of Radio 1, I think Jameela should have left and been replaced back in September's changes. The Scottish voiceovers aren't as good as the 2009 + station sound.

Whoah! That's a tad too harsh. I could see her doing weekday early mornings (aka Gemma's current slot), and I wouldn't rush to turn the radio off if she came on in the daytime.

Access All Areas was deffo a thing last year, but perhaps they felt they didn't have a big enough interest for it to continue - it's quite specialist. However, I've not heard talk of it being "finished" or anything. Perhaps they're putting it on at a later date? Time will tell! ;-)

I used to love Matt's late show. It was fantastic... I reckon that Dance Anthems needs to be on from a later time, and switching to 1Xtra at 7pm seems silly.

OBs are very community radio IMO. Radio 1 can't do 'em properly yet.
