  1. When I read this headline on Newsbeat earlier I was actually "woah"!! And in my mind I was thinking that what an amazing replacemnt for Breakfast Zane would be and this would be great! If any one could replace Chris Zane certainly has the presence! Then I read on and found out that it was for a whole week and tbh the news of Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Nick Grimshaw on Daytime I didnt find that different as it sounds like a normal cover week - the kind of schedule line up that should have been on over the Christmas week. Although I do see this Line Up as probably a possible one for the future. Throw in Greg somewhere in there and thats Radio 1 for the next 3/4 years I hope post Scott & Chris. Having said that what I am looking forward to is the music - it will be great to hear Grimmys show at drive time - I think he has really made the show his own and its a must listen, coupled with the music that Annie and Huw play - sounds like a fantastic week. In fact when you think about we kind of are listening to the future. The future Music & bands of the next few years and possibly the future line up for the same period!
  2. The whole Christmas schedule is looking awful! Why dont they get the hint that we dont want to listen to prerecorded highlight shows! They spend all year banging on about how interactive the station is with web cams, online stuff etc etc, and then for almost 2 weeks of the year when people are perhaps quite likely to be looking for all these intercative channels they just totally drop them - for a brand marketing message that is a nightmare, as well as a put off for most of the audience! I would rather hear some of the less popular DJ's than a pre record or best of show from a celeb or a top dj. Stick Tom Deacon or even simulcast with 1 xtra all day if it means no pre-record! Between 2 stations they must be able to get together a live line-up for daytime! Total disappointment and its sad that this is actually what I have come to expect at Christmas/holiday periods from Radio1 as opposed to 12 years ago when I first started listening!
  3. I listened to a Podcast from Coxys last show in for scott a couple of weeks back and I heard someone say something like "will you do that on your sunday show" and she said "who knows if Ill be here" . Makes it sound like to me she was thinking about not coming in!
  4. I just remembered that the Nations shows were moving to Sunday night into Monday morning midnight -2am. So now I am even more confused at Fabio & Grooverider moving into that 2-4am slot after the nations - talk about different ends of the genre line - cant wait to see how they fit together. I think it was simply a matter of "oh no where should we put them - we need a 2 hour slot" "oh look we've got this 2 hour slot that will do for now until their contract runs out or listener figures drop!"
  5. This move for Fabio and Grooverider is a weird one! They would have been better moving to Thursday into Friday 2-4am, and Annie Nightingale take the Sunday night 2-4am slot. I just think the genre's/content of the shows would suit better!
  6. What about the rest of it - Xmas day and beyond? Not more pre recorded rubbish again I hope!
  7. Bit of a shock to loose Max though - she was preferred Radio 1 cover? Who will do that now or is it to interpreted that Radio 1 feel they have enough talent within to cover shows and wont need 1xtra cover?!
  8. Im not a fan of the moving someone else to cover someone and then have someone else to cover them thing! It just messes up the schedule and there is no consistency and a chance for presenters to build up a following! I think they should have 1 or 2 cover presenters who do all the cover and each presenter has a regular deputy. For example Matt should be regular cover for Dev, Fearne and Edith, and Huw Regular cover for Greg, Zane, and Jo, then Coxy for Chris and Scott. The group work out so noone is off at the same time like most organisations so the schedule output isnt diluted so much!
  9. Has anyone else noticed how Jo is all over Radio 2 these days? Appearing in the adverts and voice over for the BBC2 electric proms? Is it a sign? Or is it just that her voice is so widely associated with the Proms/new music and its a ploy to try and get people to listen in?
  10. As I read it there wont be a Nations show in England, the other three nations shows will alternate between broadcasting to England so every 3 weeks we get an update from each nation in England. I quite like the idea of that - I always did want to know what the other shows were like. It also says that Huw now gets his own Nationwide show on a Wednesday night in place of the nations split. So this isnt Huws current England Nations show but in fact a brand new show which he deserves and probably. I wait to hear how he differentiates the show from the current introducing show he does 9-10pm on a Wednesday as it would be a shame if the hour show is just a warm up/list of what happening at midnight and not a show in its own right.
  11. Moyles contract will be until July/August im guessing as that is when he signed a 1 year extension, and Capitals UK network expansion is looming and they will want a big anchor for breakfast like Moyles. As with previous Breakfast switch overs they will prob put in a "steady pair of hands" to handle the handover for a few months until Jan and then start with a new permanent presenter in January. I can see this steady pair of hands being Scott, and Greg moving to drive. Although Scott is my favourite DJ at the station, I hope he doesn't move to Breakfast as he isn't really anything new and I think that is what will be needed to fill the gap left by Moyles. We hear Mills on Breakfast enough already so get what the format will be. I think whoever this new person is Scott should then move to afternoons and Greg take on Drive. This frees Scott up to do more things at the station, take a different direction with his show and also puts the Chart under his remit too which he already does quite alot. Contenders for Breakfast - Grimmy has to be the favourite who would also be my first choice and R1 seem to be grooming him for big things and his evening show is actually a must listen now (or even a Annie & Nick combo might be considered as the station direction becomes apparent), Reggie, or even Fearne to be honest based on her apparent popularity in the R1 board room. However outsiders at the station - Huw Stephens has a big following and I know he has introducing comitmnets but what better platform to expose introducing, Matt Edmondson and possibly Zane if he feels its a good move. Other BBC stations - Lauren Laverne, Ronnie Herrel, Mista Jam, Shaun Keaveny and Richard Bacon is a bit Moyles Esque! Or how about Tom Ravenscroft at the station - that would be a big signing and his 6music show is really good - I can see him being snapped up soon! Interesting though that William Hill have Russel Brand at 25/1 to take over from Chris! Comedy Dave is also at 25/1 at Aled is 100/1.
  12. I kind of believe it! I think this will be his last year on breakfast and possibly at the station as where can he go next on the station but retain his status/salary?! Mills wont get it now either, not permanently - I can see him filling the slot July -End of the year while they hunt for a new big name anchor presenter and format! Unfortunately Mills has prob missed his opportunity as had he been a few years behind Moyles he wold now be hitting his peak and ready to take over, whereas Mills and Myles have kidn of almost peaked together. Mills wont go though, I think he could stay and move into the afternoon slot and Greg to drive. The only thing about that story that I dont believe/refuse to believe is Fearne is a contender for the show! Surely the only person who could contend for that slot now is Nick Grimshaw - He must be exactly what they are looking for in terms of appeal? Lets just hope its not a Nick/Annie duo and a Switch Breakfast show!
  13. I kind of thought that that was the humour of it! That coxipidia will never beat Wiki, and that the point of dear scott was to highlight some of the crap they get sent in which is why alot of people dont get stuff read out?! Its kind of an ironic humour so I dont think the poster is getting it?!
  14. Totally agree with the comments above especially the one about bringing in talent from the smaller stations/specialist. There are some really entertaining shows out there, and the presenters should have the feeling that the better they do the better station/slot they get moved to - for example the Breakfast show on 6 Music - whats next? Do they progress somewhere! Shaun Keaveney and George Lamb are all potential R1 DJ's and would liek to see them on Radio 1 once they have spent time perfecting their art elsewhere instead of bringing in personalities who flood the airwaves with shouts of GOOOOD MOOORNIING! when you least want to hear it!
  15. That description is almost an admission that although Matt Edmondson wil undoubtedly find his place at the station in the next re-shuffle and doing odd cover it wasn't The Lie in on Sunday Mornings!
  16. A great addition to the R1 specialist team, though the Sunday night slot on 1Xtra now looks pretty drab! If the 'My Top Ten' Feature has a Rob Da Banks A-Z element then it could wokr but depends who hosts it! Are we assuming that this is the only R1 schedule change this year? And this has only come out of necessity as Mar Anne Hobbs has left of her own accord! R1 execs must be pretty happy with the station sound right now then!
  17. That comment makes it sound like scott is off ill all the time?! I cant remember Chris having a day off sick in the whole 10 years I have been listening to Radio 1. Zoe Ball and Sara Cox yes, which is how I first became aware of Scott, as back then he was on Early Breakfast and had to stay on and cover all the time! Even when Chris was on Drive I cant think of a time someone had to stand in for him as he was ill!
  18. Agreed. I think the thing that annoyed most R1 listeners was not that Fearne got that slot, but that other more credible DJ's/Presenters didnt. And as people have mentioned Fearne has had time to grow into that slot and is sounding better/more comfortable, but maybe she should have spent the last year hosting a show on her own at a lesser peak time to gain the following, as opposed to straight over from a bit part in the Reggie Yates show to a peak time slot! Greg on the other hand earned his place on daytime radio when the changes were made.
  19. Didnt he do this kind of show on the Asian Network? I like him just dont think he is suited to the direction daytime radio 1 is taking! He is more of a Simon Mayo kind of character as said above!
  20. Theres been no official announcement about sept changes yet :/ but I had thought Sara announced she was coming back to Sunday Mornings?! Maybe this the week between Matts last show and Saras first back? Did Sara say anything about when she would be back on the air when she signed off from covering for Fearne on Friday?
