  1. I'm not sure that's true. Capital has lots of ex student radio presenters including last year's Silver Best Male on East Midlands, and with regards to Radio 1 former Best Male Pete Allison is in for Dev week after next.
  2. A lot of the articles state he will continue on breakfast, for example the one on Digital Spy, the Newsbeat one states he will remain on Radio 1 as do a few others. Think it's a pretty safe bet he'll stay on breakfast.
  3. Great news. There just isn't a natural replacement yet and for me the show us sounding as fresh as ever, and crucially the show is sounding right, IE not too old. This rules out any hope of Scott ever taking over breakfast sadly for him.
  4. There's no chance this will happen, sadly! I would imagine it's a mistake, a funny one at that! Would love to know how that's happened!
  5. The female 1Xtra voice over and the current male voice overs and present and past DJ's of Nottingham Trent student radio station Fly FM, a station which also boasts me hosting a breakfast show
  6. Tulip hasn't gone, we'd have heard about it if she were leaving, her Twitter suggests she hasn't as well. Sure she's just got a few days off, this Anthony Baxter seems quite good though, not as good as Tulip or Chris but I bet he's newer.
  7. Interesting these jingles, if you're sad like us. As jingles I like them, I like the logo, but for me the main problem is they just don't sound "newsy", IE serious enough. When Tina was reading the top story in a serious tone of voice this morning it just didn't sound right. For the sport they'd be fine. As for "listen, watch, share" that just signifies the way the industry is going, whether we like it or not. To survive stations are having to do more than just conventional radio, hence the additional interactivity and video content. Radio 1 are reflecting that so I don't think its a bad thing, its just the station evolving. Others will follow. Overall not too bad and I'll get used to them. A refresh was much needed as believe it or not the old style and logo had been used for ages, 2004 I think, albeit with the packages being refreshed every few years.
  8. Dave and Dom yes. Robbie Savage no. Really, really not.
  9. God Viv you do talk crap. This is the Big Weekend, but this (next) year it's happening on a larger scale, in London as part of the Olympic celebrations. Why does everything have to have a tabloid spin with you, you're not a journalist, you post on an internet forum.
  10. Wow, new levels of stupidity from Viv.
  11. Sad sad morons, but I'd hoped for better responses when I saw the OWNS in capital letters.
  12. 1. Chris Moyles 2. Scott Mills 3. Sara Cox 4. Greg James 5. Vernon Kay 6. Huw Stephens 7. Dev 8. Reggie Yates 9. Fearne Cotton 10. Edith Bowman
  13. Pointless replacing Moyles with Mills. He's the same age and attracts a very similar audience. Changing the breakfast show would need to be for someone younger.
  14. Ah I see, well this is Viv, she couldn't be seen to be missing out on the "hot goss".
  15. This is based on more than rumour, its based on something he said live on television. From what he said on Fern it strongly suggests he'll be back, unless as he says something majorly changes. But you could argue the story is more likely to be true if the papers report he's staying. Him leaving is a considerably bigger story than him staying, so they'd be less likely to print a "he's staying story" of it isn't actually true.
  16. No no no, mine wasn't positive, mine was a polite way of saying it might be slightly less shit than all their other shit therefore attract slightly more people to watch it.
  17. I've been a fan of Matt's work so far and while this was an exaggerated version of the stuff we've already heard from him on R1, I don't think it quite worked last night. Sadly, the features just weren't that funny and it all felt a bit scripted at forced. I'll listen to it again, I think it can improve, but as it stands I prefer Matt in the traditional R1 format. Good on Matt and Radio 1 for trying something different.
  18. According to the Radio Times Greg is in for Scott this week, with Huw in for Greg.
  19. OK, so it will get low ratings, lower than on Channel 4, the question is how low? You have to compare these ratings with the ratings Channel 5 usually get. For example, week ending 20th March the highest figure's Five got were just under 300,000, with the football. Aside from that it was CSI with 260,000. I believe when Big Brother ended on 4 it was averaging a couple of million. If they lose haf their audience but still attract something like 1 million, or even 750,000 this will be a massive ratings boost for 5. The figures can drop even lower, and this still could be a success for Five. If the figures are around the 300 - 400,000 mark 5 will probably wish they hadn't bothered. It's a gamble, but it just may work for them.
  20. They have pretty much quoted what he said on Fern Britton's show. He's staying and will sign a new contract unless anything major happens.
  21. 04:00 - 06.30 - Matt Edmonson in for Dev 06.30 - 10.00 - Scott Mills in for Chris Moyles 10.00 - 13.00 - Fearne Cotton 13.00 - 16.00 - Dev in for Greg James 16.00 - 19.00 - Greg James in for Scott Mills That is too much disruption for a station. I'm on a student radio station and when our schedule gets mucked up too much because of cover it annoys me, let alone the biggest national radio station in the country. It's time Radio 1 (as they are doing this week) put faith in its weekend DJ's. You've made the decsision to put Greg on afternoon's, stick to it. In Matt Edmondson, Huw Stephens, Sara Cox, Annie Mac and Reggie Yates they have more than capable cover DJ's. I do think its a good idea to put Dev in for Greg sometimes, to give him the experience, but for the most part keep things simple R1!
  22. For me if there was an obvious natural replacement for Chris then now would be a good time for him to move on. But there isn't, and I believe The Moyles Show has life in it yet, so they'd be daft to replace him now. The figures are still very strong, I have no proof but he seems to be attracting the right audience, no logic in booting him off now.
  23. Couldn't agree more. Colin and Edith were on weekends and covered breakfast before they got the 1-4 slot. There are countless other examples. The schedule doesn't need to change round for anything except breakfast. That's the big show so should have the biggest names presenting it, namely Scott and Chris. But at weekends they have loads of people who can cover shows, Sara Cox, Reggie, Huw etc, even Edith Bowman. Then surely in 1Xtra DJ's surely they have the perfect replacements and are monitoring up and coming talent at the same time. Plus I hope if Matt's show becomes a success he gets the chance to fill in for Greg, or maybe even Fearne? I think he'd be a perfect fill in for her entertainment and music based show.
  24. Oh I take it back then if New Mag said it. Yes that's exactly it Viv. How I long to have posts that are as, "hot" as yours. I find it far more ironic I've been told to get a life by someone who reads "New".
