  1. To be fair, everyone should be slagging off Courtney Love, Amy Winehouse, Victoria Beckham and Perez Hilton.
  2. Attending a radio school taster class tomorrow.
  3. 1) Already a World Cup thread. 2) Wrong forum. Sorry
  4. Yeah, that sounds right. It may be stricter for other daytime DJs, but you'd figure from listening that Moyles gets far more choice to not play certain songs, reorder songs, and add a few of his own choice in there. Not 100% choice, but certain more than zero.
  5. Also, seriously: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/download/2010/download/ This mix kicks so much ass.
  6. I hate Corden, but even I can see that Stewart came off worse, only because Stewart was held in high esteem and let everyone down. Corden has always been a twat and just solidified that viewpoint.
  7. Everyone should go out of their way to listen to the Vs. with Zane last night. Great show. Not only great music, but the chemistry between all three was through the roof. Some great stories mixed in with the tunes.
  8. Corden had a right to reply, but he's not a Jimmy Carr who can kill hecklers beautifully in one swoop. It came across far too defensive and yet aggressive at the same time. Plus, he's a dick so it's not like Stewart shouldn't have said anything. He should have just ripped him for his shit Horne & Corden show and the awful skits with the England team, rather than his weight.
  9. Both men came out badly. Stewart was clearly trying to be funny at Corden's expense and Corden could end world hunger and still be a dick. Neither man won out in this case.
  10. Can tell a lot from their face, though.
  11. I had tickets for that gig and was disappointed at not being able to go. Heard nothing but great reviews, which is to be expected as they were incredible last time I saw them. Glad you had fun.
  12. If bigotry against 30STM is wrong, I don't want to be right. (I am right, by the way)
  13. Even if they do, they'll only play one song - The Kill. Radio is great for hammering single songs into the ground.
  14. Probably Grimmy and Fearne. Who, coincidentally, are also the worst DJs. There's a lesson there, folks.
  15. Who do you mean by 'we'? Those people don't exist. If they do, they're idiots. What do you mean they'll be able to 'play' the music? If you mean playing their songs in the run up, they had no issues with playing Killing... every five minutes during the Christmas period. If you mean playing the music live as it happens on the night, a) it's not specified as part of the competition, and the headline acts won't be on until 9/9.30pm which I can't see Radio One interrupting Westwood to do (and I've never know that to happen in the past for Download). Even if it's an issue with playing the gig afterwards, just play 30STM and don't tell anyone who the winner got to see. Could be that Rage won't allow a fan to come and see them perform live, but they're usually quite cool with fans. Could be that they hate Radio One using them for competitions, which is plausible as it would be against their principles and they don't particularly like the BBC. Could just be that Radio One are using the shittiest and yet completely coincidentally most mainstream band of the day to sell it to their idiot audience who don't deserve to go to Download to be surrounded by Megadeth, Deftones, Lamb of God etc who they clearly won't appreciate. And if they DO appreciate those bands, why would they see 30STM over any of those bands, or Rage? It's essentially a "who loves 30STM" competition. Pisses me right off that R1 are always so short-sighted towards their fanbase.
  16. Was really tempted to try for this competition until the 30STM bit. Fuck that. Can anyone from Radio One confirm that this is set in stone? I don't understand who would want to see 30STM when RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will be on the main stage at that moment. If we can fuck the 30STM bit and go see Rage instead, then I might enter.
  17. Christ, Aled. It's really bordering on the unhealthy, now. There's a psychological goldmine in that man.
  18. He looks like the road is getting to him. Guy needs to sleep and rest his face a bit. And maybe eat a burger or two.
  19. Or better yet - just one Live Lounge thread forever, to use as the go-to.
  20. I don't even know where to start... In terms of "greatest" being an album that is not only amazing to listen to but also important to the evolution of music over the years, there are so many to name, not limited to Pink Floyd - The Wall Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust AC/DC - Back In Black Nas - Illmatic Radiohead - Ok Computer Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Marvin Gaye - What's Going On? Michael Jackson - Thriller Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin And that's not even counting the genres I haven't even begun to touch on, and the albums that didn't make it into the charts and aren't considered mainstream but still made a huge impact on how music developed and expanded. I don't think a single album made in the last ten years can match any of these albums for overall greatness. In terms of greatest as in my personal favourite albums which also are amazing, you really can't step wrong with Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses which killed off hair metal and began a new era of hard rock and roll, where every song just kicks ass and you don't stop dancing and singing along, which paved the way for Nirvana to kill GnR off with Nevermind (also a tremendous album that I'd consider an all-time great). August and Everything After by Counting Crows is almost perfect from top to bottom, just one of the most emotional and beautiful albums ever made. Eminem's first two LPs were landmark moments in hip hop and he never topped the creativity he showed in those albums. And although it'll never even graze any top albums list, I can't top Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson. It was the album that changed my life as a God-fearing christian child whose eyes were opened to a new world when Manson stepped onto a stage in Dublin and set fire to a cross made of televisions singing Rock Is Dead. That one is hard to replace in my heart.
  21. It's fine if they play a song every hour or such, but I'm bored of it taking up so much time on Moyles' show (and even he doesn't seem impressed by it). The show is better than having to play crappy live songs for an hour.
  22. I stand mistaken: https://id.bbc.co.uk/settings/start
  23. I may have to steal it.
  24. You'll be able to connect your Facebook account to your BBC ID soon, but I don't think they've implemented it yet.
