From all at Unofficial Mills we would like to wish Scott Mills a Happy Birthday today!
It's often difficult finding photographs of Scott posing on key dates in the diary, but we think this photograph of him with a stack of cheese cake for Beccy's birthday goes down particularly well.
The only negative to this is he doesn't look especially chuffed in this photograph - we do hope he'll be smiling today! [...]
Yesterday BBC News announced it was cutting 140 posts yesterday - with 17 posts being cut from Radio 1 and 1Xtra's news team.
It was announced that the result of the cutbacks will mean that Radio 1 and 1Xtra will no longer have a dedicated news service, apart from at breakfast.
The job losses are not expected to take place until April 2013, but unions have already criticised the move, which they claim is a "severe threat" to the BBC's quality journalism.
Sue Harris from the National Uni [...]

Many users logging on to register for tickets for BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend were left frustrated and some were left disappointed as the website suffered a meltdown on Sunday morning.
At the time of the initial opening time for registration at 11am users were faced with an IP error message before the Seetickets website started to struggle with demand after 10 minutes.
Those that were eventually successful at applying for tickets were left trying for an hour with fans not tweeting their [...]
All of the greats win them.
In 2005 it was Chris Moyles that picked one up. Scott Mills picked one up in 2008 and Beccy won one last year.
So it was long overdue that Comedy Dave from The Chris Moyles Show should be credited with a Loaded LAFTA for his services to comedy.
Today was that day as he picked up the 2011 Loaded LAFTA for funniest radio sidekick.
Dave, who is currently appearing on Dancing On Ice, joined Jimmy Carr, Rich Hall, and Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer as winners at [...]

Scott's latest project is an ambitious one in the form of a quiz application for the iPhone.
Not only does it test your general knowledge when you 'play for fun', in online mode it allows you to compete for prizes during scheduled quiz nights hosted by the Radio 1 DJ and Voiceover Man.

If you follow our Twitter updates, you'll have noted last week that we announced Matt Edmondson was to be host of the Xtra Factor, ITV2's spin-off show for the X Factor.
Sadly the Radio 1 presenter has since been ditched and snubbed by the show, who have announced today that they are opting for Caroline Flack and Olly Murs instead.
The decision has sparked outrage on Unofficial Mills, and on showbiz forums across the world wide web, from those who marvelled at Matt's funny stints with The [...]
It might not seem like the first place you would think of for a celebration of the 2012 Olympics and all things British - but Hackney has been announced as the hosts for a bigger version of BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend next year.
The premise is very much the same as the Big Weekend with six tents, the live TV and radio coverage, plenty of big names, and a ticket system that favours the local people.
However, this will be different because tickets will be made available to over double the amou [...]
Following this morning's announcement that Lady Gaga and Foo Fighters will headline the main stage of Radio 1's Big Weekend, we're excited to say that Swedish House Mafia and The Strokes will headline the In New Music We Trust stage.
