Scott had apparently been on television in his pants
Scott had been receiving messages about photographs and television appearances in which his shorts looked extremely short.
The effect, particularly when he was sitting down, was that some viewers thought he had simply forgotten to put trousers on.
After seeing the evidence himself, Scott decided there was an easy solution.
No more dangerously short shorts on camera.
He would wear proper trousers rather than spending the rest of the summer explaining why he appeared to be presenting in his underwear.
Aitch entered the box
The second day of the revived Innuendo Bingo brought in Aitch.
By now Chris knew how the new set-up behaved.
That did not make it easier.
Both men placed their heads inside the separate Perspex boxes, filled their mouths with water and waited for Scott to begin the clips.
The box stopped direct crossfire but could not stop the contents from running down their own faces and clothes once they broke.
Aitch quickly discovered that hearing the innuendo through speakers while staring at somebody else trapped in a transparent box did very little to help with self-control.
The childhood-song album kept growing
The previous week’s collection of songs written by listeners when they were children had produced so many messages that the programme continued it.
More homemade lyrics arrived from the era before anybody worried about whether a song was good enough to release.
The charm was precisely that the writers had been seven or eight years old and completely confident that every idea deserved a chorus.
The feature had become an accidental archive of the strange things children considered pop-song material.
Even the quiz mixed high culture and Aitch
The programme’s quiz moved between subjects such as craft beer and Lord of the Rings, continuing the show’s favourite format of asking whether an improbable name belonged to one category or another.
After an afternoon involving Scott’s shorts, childhood songwriting and Aitch voluntarily putting his head into a splash box, it barely registered as unusual.
