Scott wanted as little birthday fuss as possible
It was Scott’s birthday, which meant everybody immediately ignored his preference not to make a fuss.
Chris began with a box of Danish sweets he had spotted while buying lunch.
Scott was amused by the Danish wording on the packet and happy enough to accept a low-key sugar-based celebration.
Chris promised the main present would come later.
Listeners sent birthday messages while Scott repeatedly tried to move the programme on.
The Eurovision campaign had reached Finland
The more important operation was Scott and Chris’s self-appointed Sam Ryder Eurovision campaign.
They had secured an interview on one of Finland’s biggest breakfast shows to encourage Finnish listeners to vote for the UK.
The real Sam was unavailable.
Rather than waste the booking, Chris pretended to be Sam Ryder while Scott conducted himself as the campaign’s head of marketing.
This created one major risk.
The Finnish presenters knew Sam was famous for his voice and naturally asked him to sing.
Scott repeatedly intervened to protect the fake Sam’s supposedly precious Eurovision voice.
“Sam” could discuss TikTok, Essex and his hair.
Singing was absolutely forbidden.
Scott then made the Finnish presenters repeat a pledge promising to get behind *Space Man*.
The quiz remembered nursery rhymes
The quiz moved to nursery rhymes, where supposedly easy clues produced surprising confusion.
Incy Wincy Spider and Humpty Dumpty were straightforward enough.
“Round and Round the Garden” caused much more difficulty when one member of the team appeared never to have heard it.
The Who Game also delivered another blast of disappearing sounds and habits.
Scott’s birthday show had somehow become a combination of Danish sweets, children’s songs and an international Eurovision impersonation fraud.
