BRITs day began with Mo Gilligan and the Tube
The BRIT Awards were taking place that evening.
Scott and Chris discussed Mo Gilligan, who had tweeted years earlier about wanting to host the ceremony and was now actually doing it.
That led to the question of what ambitious thing they should post online now in the hope it became true a decade later.
They also revived the running joke of shouting “Danny Howard!” on the London Underground while travelling to the BRITs.
Katie and Tom were suspiciously compatible
Brother or Lover introduced Katie and Tom.
Katie worked for a bank and played football as a goalkeeper.
Tom was also a goalkeeper.
They were both Chelsea supporters, went to sporting events together, had been to festivals and gigs, spent Christmas together and had gone skiing in France just before the first pandemic lockdown.
The similarities sounded almost too perfect.
Some of the team imagined a romantic story in which two goalkeepers had somehow found each other.
Scott and Chris thought the opposite.
They were right.
Katie revealed Tom was her brother.
Goalkeeping genuinely ran through the family: their fathers, stepfather, uncle and cousin had all played in goal too.
Chris suddenly had no idea what a tomato was
The show then revisited an old idea in which somebody had been forced to explain a potato from first principles.
Producer Amy knew an Italian restaurant owner called Jimmy who was famously enthusiastic and descriptive about his food.
Scott and Chris called him and Chris pretended he had never heard of a tomato.
Jimmy tried every possible route.
It was red.
It went in salads.
It helped make tomato sauce.
He repeated the word, spelled it and seemed increasingly amazed that an adult could apparently have lived without encountering one.
Eventually Scott and Chris admitted the truth.
Of course Chris knew what a tomato was.
They had simply wanted to hear Jimmy attempt the impossible job of explaining one to somebody who claimed to have no point of reference.
Winter Olympic events became Real or No Real
The quiz used strange winter sports.
Snowshoe racing had appeared as a demonstration event.
Ski ballet was also genuine and had featured at the Olympics.
Horse bobsleigh, thankfully for the horses, was invented for the quiz.
The second round asked which celebrity exes had supposedly inspired famous songs, bringing Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo into an afternoon already dominated by tomatoes and goalkeepers.
