17 February 2022: Radio 1 finally found Tenerife’s “Very Good, Very Nice” man

Istanbul airport appeared to be full of hair transplants

Chris had seen a viral video showing a queue at Istanbul airport in which almost everybody seemed to be recovering from a hair transplant.

Scott said the image was completely believable from personal experience.

He had travelled through Istanbul and remembered flights packed with men returning from cosmetic procedures.

The discussion expanded into the surprisingly visible medical-tourism scene around the airport.

They had finally found him

After days of trying, the show made contact with Tenerife’s viral “Very Good, Very Nice” seller.

At that point he had become a TikTok fixture, with British tourists seeking him out to film his catchphrases.

Scott and Chris treated the booking as a major exclusive.

They told him he had become famous in Britain and asked for the signature line live on Radio 1.

He obliged.

They then played him a remix built around his voice.

His review was exactly what they wanted.

Very good. Very nice.

The phrase had gone from holiday meme to an actual Radio 1 dance remix within days.

Friday’s archive podcast supplied a new way to embarrass Chris

The show also promoted its Friday BBC Sounds edition, which dipped into old programmes.

One archive clip came from the old 10-year challenge trend.

Rather than compare photographs, Scott had gone through Chris’s Facebook posts from a decade earlier.

The statuses captured an earlier version of Chris announcing big plans, nights at Oceana, cheap drinks, football and cancelled foam parties with enormous confidence.

One post moved directly from “big business” in London to promoting a nightclub night.

Scott thought that summed Chris up perfectly.

Instagram followings competed with entire places

The quiz compared celebrity follower counts with populations.

Dove Cameron had more Instagram followers than the population of Canada.

Gemma Collins did not beat Greece.

Jack Grealish had more followers than Birmingham had residents.

A final round of deliberately terrible woodwind covers then gave dogs across the country another reason to dislike the show.

This was also the final edition before Scott and Chris went away on holiday, which explained the long gap before the next supplied transcript.
