Scott’s vaccine venue was not especially glamorous
Scott had finally received his coronavirus vaccination.
He described the location with affection rather than glamour:
a pharmacy around the back of an Iceland and The Range in Hemel Hempstead.
Scott joked that some part of him had expected VIP treatment.
The reality was exactly what millions of other people had experienced.
Turn up.
Get the jab.
Be grateful it was done.
He felt slightly shivery afterwards but otherwise fine.
Then, because Iceland was right there, Scott decided to treat himself to a browse.
Scott thought he had solved Chris’s AirPods problem for £1.99
Inside Iceland, Scott spotted something labelled as an AirPods case cover.
Chris had lost his charging case the previous week.
Scott sent him a photograph and offered to buy it.
At £1.99, the bargain should perhaps have been suspicious.
Scott assumed the little case would somehow replace the missing charger.
It did not.
It was simply a rubber cover for the charging case Chris no longer owned.
Chris now had somewhere decorative to put a missing object.
Scott defended the present on the grounds that he had thought of Chris.
The usefulness was secondary.
The phrase practically wrote itself:
that’s why Scott goes to Iceland.
Sunday browsing rules created another mystery
Scott had also arrived before the store was legally able to process Sunday purchases.
He filled the basket and reached the till, only to be told he had to wait until 10.30am.
For around 20 minutes he stood with the AirPods cover and household basics waiting for the moment the shop could actually take his money.
The combination of vaccination, Iceland and Sunday trading rules had made Scott’s morning unexpectedly eventful.
Måneskin were becoming much bigger than Eurovision
The show also discussed Måneskin.
Winning Eurovision had not simply pushed the winning song into the charts.
Listeners were searching through the band’s older catalogue.
An earlier X Factor cover of *Beggin’* was now performing strongly too.
Scott loved seeing Eurovision function as a doorway into an artist rather than a one-song novelty.
Their Tune of the Week, *I Wanna Be Your Slave*, made the point even more clearly.
Ben and Matt fooled Scott on Brother or Lover
The day’s Brother or Lover featured Ben and Matt.
Ben had bought Matt a hoodie and gin for his birthday.
Matt had seen Ben naked.
They wanted to go to the pub together once restrictions eased.
Ben knew Matt liked eggy bread.
Their music tastes were different.
The last entertainment they had seen together was a Gary Barlow tribute act.
Scott became convinced they were brothers.
Some of the team leaned towards lovers.
The reveal came in the familiar repeated chant:
lover, lover, lover, lover.
Scott was genuinely shocked.
Ben and Matt had been together since December 2019 and were living together.
Scott admitted he had been certain they were siblings.
Brother or Lover had got him again.
