8 February 2021: Scott’s enormous snow boots turned him into Bambi on Ice

Scott had finally bought proper winter footwear

Living outside central London had introduced Scott to a problem he had largely avoided for years:

ice.

He normally wore trainers almost everywhere.

After slipping the previous week, he decided he needed something more serious.

The resulting boots were enormous.

Producer Will spotted them immediately and circulated a photograph around the team.

The reviews were savage.

Scott looked like a “mum of four who’s just lost her kids at Glasto”.

He had “serious walker vibes”.

Another comparison suggested Karen at Richmond Park.

Scott insisted none of that mattered because, unlike the previous week, he had not fallen over.

The Who Game received a Super Bowl-style half-time show

Monday’s Who Game returned after the weekend’s Super Bowl.

Scott decided that if American football could interrupt the action for a huge pop spectacular, Radio 1’s nostalgia game deserved a half-time show too.

The budget did not extend to The Weeknd.

Instead the production supplied its own much smaller musical interruption before everybody returned to shouting forgotten brands and phrases.

Among the entries were password journals, *Whodunnit?*, Mickey the Finch, Hot Magazine, FHM and hotel conveyor-belt toasters.

The game also remembered how absurdly young the *X Factor* “Overs” category used to be, with contestants in their mid-20s treated as though they belonged to a different generation.

Ryan’s camera roll had migrated to his brother’s iPad

Listener Ryan thought he had done his brother a favour by handing over an old iPad.

Then settings and cloud syncing did something unfortunate.

Ryan’s entire camera roll appeared on the device.

That included screenshots and images from private conversations.

Scott immediately understood the panic.

He remembered a burglary at his old flat in which physical intimate photographs belonging to a flatmate had been stolen.

Explaining the missing pictures to a police officer had been almost as embarrassing as losing them.

Ryan now faced the digital equivalent.

The team wanted the one-word description of what he feared most

Scott and Chris repeatedly tried to get Ryan to explain what was in the camera roll without forcing him to reveal anything explicit.

Could he summarise the worst possible category in one word?

Ryan was not eager to provide keywords on national radio.

The situation was already stressful enough.

The lesson was simple: before giving away an old device, check exactly which cloud account it is still connected to.

Teddy and old technology rounded out the episode

Scott supplied another dog update while listeners also discussed where old iPads and other abandoned devices go once families have finished passing them around.

The show had managed to turn both winter footwear and cloud syncing into full radio crises.
