10 February 2021: Granny Tinder’s Scrabble clue became K A S F L A L as Tom Grennan was crowned pop’s nicest man

Tom Grennan’s nice-guy reputation kept growing

Tom Grennan’s *Little Bit of Love* was Tune of the Week and Scott and Chris had already been talking about how consistently pleasant he seemed whenever they met him.

Listeners began supplying evidence.

Ellen remembered escaping a terrible date after a friend invited her to a small gig where Tom was performing.

Afterwards she told Tom the date had been awful.

Rather than simply posing for a photo and moving on, he stopped, listened and made her feel better about the evening.

Ellen became a fan partly because of that interaction.

Scott joked that the week’s mission had accidentally become proving Tom Grennan was the nicest man in pop.

Granny Tinder tried to bring Scrabble to the show

Lynette returned and revealed her Scrabble group had been meeting by Zoom.

The game involved being given seven jumbled letters and trying to make a seven-letter word.

Scott and Chris naturally asked her to set one for them.

What followed was chaos.

Lynette started reading the letters.

Then Scott and Chris lost track.

Then Lynette read them again.

Letters appeared to change.

The sequence eventually sounded something like:

K A S F L A L.

Nobody could establish exactly what the intended word was.

The clue itself became far more entertaining than solving it.

The dating profiles were judged as ruthlessly as ever

Once the Scrabble experiment was abandoned, Granny Tinder returned to her actual job.

One profile belonged to a 25-year-old car salesman called Rishi who liked Formula 1, bargains and Harry Potter.

Lynette was immediately wary of second-hand car salesmen, despite Scott trying to separate the profession from every stereotype she had ever heard.

Other profiles received the same forensic treatment.

Jobs, hobbies and one-line jokes were all analysed as if Lynette were conducting a background check rather than swiping an app.

Jersey was pitched as a future holiday

The show also looked ahead to the idea of travelling again.

Jersey was presented as one of the places listeners might consider once rules allowed.

The crucial qualification was repeated several times:

do not book it yet.

In February 2021, even imagining a normal holiday required a disclaimer.

Rapper or Accountant returned

Don’t Look It Up brought back Rapper or Accountant.

By the second outing, Scott and Chris had developed theories about which kinds of names sounded too obvious to belong to the profession being suggested.

Those theories were not especially reliable.

The quiz remained difficult precisely because an accountant could have a name that sounded like a stage persona and a rapper could sound like somebody from a tax firm.
