19 November 2019: Scott chose a coffee enema as the perfect pre Christmas treatment

The mystery treatment was finally revealed

After floating the idea of a quirky pre Christmas treatment, Scott announced that he had found the answer on YouTube: a coffee enema. He had watched a video from Rosie Tadman describing the practice and became convinced that this was exactly the sort of thing he and Chris should do together.

The video made claims about digestion, bloating, skin and feeling better generally. Chris heard the word “digestion” and immediately understood that the proposed day out was going somewhere he did not want it to go.

Scott insisted that they would not be improvising at home with a cup of coffee. He wanted to go somewhere professional and have the treatment properly. This reassurance did almost nothing to make Chris happier.

Sam Fender accidentally volunteered for vocal coaching

Elsewhere, the show had received material from Sam Fender and Scott decided that what a very good singer really needed was his own expert intervention. He teased a vocal coaching session for later in the week, claiming that he could find the extra percentage that would take Fender from very good to extraordinary.

Fans immediately objected to the suggestion that Fender was somehow not already at the top of his game. Scott treated the complaints as further evidence that the coaching session had to happen.

Funny Business reached the Lady Gardener

Chris then tried another no laughing phone call. The business was called The Lady Gardener, a gardening and landscaping company in Winchester.

The owner explained that the name had arisen naturally after somebody referred to her as “the lady gardener”. She had kept it because it described the business and its female led approach perfectly well.

The difficulty for the studio was that Scott initially misheard the name as “Lady Garden”. Chris corrected him and somehow continued discussing gardening, landscaping and the company’s “feminine touch” without completely losing control.

The treatment argument was clearly not going away

By the end of the show, Scott was treating the coffee enema as a settled plan while Chris was still searching for any route out. The disagreement provided an obvious story to carry into the next day, when listeners who had actually experienced similar treatments could try to persuade him.
