Scott’s shared home had acquired a sudoku book
A week after Sam moved in, Scott said domestic life was going well.
There were already small discoveries.
One was a sudoku book which had appeared among Sam’s belongings.
Scott treated it as evidence of hidden depths.
Chris called it a small red flag purely because he enjoyed making ordinary relationship details sound ominous.
Sam had also cooked and prepared Scott’s lunch.
The move-in storyline had already become less dramatic than Chris’s reality-show trailer suggested.
One listener wanted 12 months of Matt
The show also returned to an idea for a Radio 1 calendar.
Listener Joe had a very specific request.
He wanted Matt Edmondson wearing only a vest.
Not completely naked.
Just a vest.
Scott and Chris found the level of detail much funnier than a generic request for a naked calendar.
Matt was asked.
His answer was essentially no.
Scott thought the refusal probably made the image more appealing to Joe.
Oxford could deliver condoms
Fresher of the Week Rob continued reporting from Oxford University.
He said students could request condoms delivered to their room.
Scott and Chris immediately turned the service into something much grander.
A condom arriving on a cushion.
A tiny ring box.
A butler-style presentation.
Rob had not necessarily used the service himself yet.
The existence of it was enough to convince the presenters Oxford had found a particularly formal way to approach student sexual health.
Rob was having a real freshers week
Rob also described pre-drinks, clubs and the ordinary chaos of new housemates.
He had already needed flatmates to tell him what he had done after some nights out.
One story involved ordering 40 chicken nuggets from McDonald’s.
Scott and Chris were reassured.
The Oxford fresher who had arrived feeling like an impostor was quickly becoming indistinguishable from students everywhere else.
Bamboleo stayed huge
Wednesday brought another Bamboleo.
Scott called it one of the strongest gaps for a while.
Listeners continued selecting old show clips with a precision which occasionally surprised the presenters themselves.
The feature had become a weekly archive assembled partly by the audience.
Saffron Barker got soaked
The main guest was Saffron Barker, who had been appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
She joined Chris for Innuendo Bingo.
As always, both players filled their mouths with water while Scott played completely innocent clips from television and radio which sounded much ruder when removed from context.
The revived game leaned on the usual reliable sources.
Food.
Animals.
Sport.
Anything involving tools or oddly shaped objects.
Saffron committed properly and ended up soaked.
Scott was pleased.
After a break, one of the show’s most famous features was fully back.
