8 April 2019: BLACKPINK arrived while Chris was in the toilet

Watford had given Chris one of his greatest weekends

Chris arrived still overwhelmed by Watford’s dramatic football result.

The team had come from two goals down and eventually won 3–2, a turnaround Scott had followed online because he knew how much it meant to Chris.

Chris said some supporters had even left early to beat the traffic.

He could not understand doing that at a match where anything could still happen.

The comeback was exactly why he stayed until the end.

Ask Me Anything found a world-record cone collector

The day’s Ask Me Anything guest was David Morgan, a Guinness World Record holder for collecting traffic cones.

David had around 500 cones in the collection.

Some looked almost identical but carried different names, manufacturers or designs.

Scott and Chris initially assumed a traffic cone was a traffic cone.

David quickly proved otherwise.

There were different materials, shapes and specialist designs.

The cone he particularly wanted was an unusual five-sided cone.

The programme immediately turned the missing item into a national search.

Listeners began sending photographs of roadside cones, although many had misunderstood and were submitting ordinary four-sided cones on five-sided bases rather than the unusual cone David actually needed.

Scott loved that Radio 1 had accidentally made roadworks more interesting for hundreds of people.

Food blogging had tricks too

Bangers was linked with a food blogger who explained how polished food photographs were created for Instagram.

Scott and Chris wanted to know why ordinary food looked dull at home while somebody else’s breakfast could appear like a professional advertisement.

Presentation, light and careful positioning mattered.

The discussion fitted neatly with Monday’s publicity-photo crisis.

Apparently people and food both needed much more work than anybody admitted before appearing online.

BLACKPINK joined from Korea

Then BLACKPINK appeared on the show.

Scott spoke to the four members while they were in Korea after a Vogue shoot.

The group’s YouTube following had passed 20 million subscribers, making them the first K-pop act to reach that milestone at the time.

They discussed the years of training before debut, with the members having spent different lengths of time preparing.

Scott also mentioned how quickly their UK date had sold out.

The strangest part was who missed it.

Chris had gone to the toilet.

By the time he returned, one of the world’s biggest new groups had been interviewed without him.

Scott delighted in telling BLACKPINK that the man who normally co-presented the programme had missed their entire appearance because of a bathroom break.

Dani Dyer met Superfan Steve

The final major guest was Dani Dyer, who was told Radio 1 had found somebody with extraordinary knowledge of her life.

As usual, “Superfan Steve” was really Chris armed with answers.

The game relied on the guest gradually becoming unsettled by how much one supposed fan knew.

Dani had to answer questions about herself while Steve repeatedly appeared to know the details first.

Scott let the tension build before the reveal.

Superfan Steve had now moved from global pop stars into *Love Island* royalty.
