The dentist may be the worst place to hear Innuendo Bingo
An anonymous listener called “Laura” used the show’s voice changer to explain why she had needed to disguise herself. She had been sitting in a dentist’s waiting room while the previous day’s Innuendo Bingo was playing on Radio 1.
Trying not to laugh in a quiet waiting room was difficult enough. The voice changer made her attempts to describe the situation sound even stranger, especially whenever she breathed heavily. Scott and Chris decided that the dentist had made a strong claim to being the least suitable public place to hear the feature.
Naked Attraction ended one dating story very quickly
The week’s murky television past theme produced Richard, who had matched with a woman on a dating app and discovered during their first date that she had previously appeared on Naked Attraction.
For Richard, the awkward part was knowing that his mother was a regular viewer of the programme and might therefore already have seen far more of his date than he had. He decided not to continue the relationship, giving the show one of the neatest examples yet of old reality television unexpectedly entering a new romance.
Niall Horan reviewed the thing he had been nervous about
Niall Horan joined the programme after his Live Lounge performance and admitted that he had genuinely been nervous. The room carried a particular weight for artists because they had all grown up watching other performers walk into the same space and be judged on stripped back performances.
Scott turned that nervousness into the show’s familiar format of asking an artist to review their own Live Lounge. Niall listened back and talked through the performance rather than pretending the occasion had felt routine.
Will finally got the Tenerife story from his mum
Where Do You Think They Were went international with 26 year old Will and his mum Jan. She explained that she and Will’s father had been trying for a baby for around two years before taking a relaxing holiday to Tenerife, staying at a friend’s timeshare.
The sunshine, sangria and holiday atmosphere did their job. Jan described an interrupted attempt before dinner and a later encounter back in the room, eventually identifying the bed as the important location. Scott’s questioning wandered into whether there had been any “keys in the middle” style partner swapping, which Jan firmly ruled out.
For Will, the result was more information than he had ever expected to receive. The story was affectionate and straightforward by the standards of the feature, but the programme still found a way to turn a long awaited conception on holiday into an interrogation about Tenerife, timeshares and his parents’ relationship habits.
