The Dinner Date footage had been found
The programme delivered on its promise to Harriet. James had tried to keep his old Dinner Date appearance buried, but the team found the material and played some of the most awkward moments back to his current girlfriend.
James’s conversation included telling his date that she had very white, clean teeth and asking about flossing. Over dessert he went as far as saying that she might be the perfect girl for him. Harriet could only listen as a version of her boyfriend from years earlier tried to create chemistry on television.
The feared kitchen material was there too. James had admitted that he was drunk during the filming, and his cooking technique, cocktail tricks and jam roly poly had become part of the legend long before Harriet finally heard the evidence herself.
Peter Crouch was the guest the feature had wanted for years
Peter Crouch then sat opposite Chris for Innuendo Bingo. The show had wanted him to play for a long time and immediately found that his height changed the normal seating arrangement. His legs seemed to reach everywhere as the two players tried to hold water in their mouths without soaking one another.
Crouch embraced the game rather than treating it as a quick promotional appearance. Scott remembered previous high profile players including Daniel Radcliffe and treated Crouch’s participation as another name the feature had been waiting to add.
The Titanic documentary clip did exactly what was expected
One of the strongest clips came from a documentary about deep sea exploration of the Titanic. An experienced diver was described as having made many trips to the wreck but never having seen a 100 metre gash.
The wording was enough to set the room off before the line had even finished. Crouch and Chris were already fighting the water, and the programme once again became a combination of television archive language, anticipation and two adults trying not to react.
A dog walker showed what an ordinary day looked like
The programme also spoke to Gemma, a dog walker who had dealt with 12 dogs that day and regularly recorded enormous step counts through work. Her contribution provided a calmer interlude in a show otherwise dominated by embarrassing dating footage and one of Innuendo Bingo’s most eagerly awaited guests.
