Friday Extra Show: Scott had to cover for Chris
Extra podcast edition
The Friday Extra Show was normally Chris’s territory.
This week he could not make it.
Scott stepped in and admitted he had not personally assembled an elaborate new programme.
The team had created a montage of the strongest material from the week.
Scott cheerfully acknowledged that loyal listeners had technically heard the clips before.
The point was hearing them brought together as one chaotic first week of April.
The publicity photographs returned
The montage revisited Chris’s campaign against the ageing promotional photographs used for nightclub and student-union bookings.
Scott taking Chris’s picture onto the street had produced unexpected guesses about what he did for a living.
Chris doing the same with Scott’s photo proved neither image was especially successful.
The pair had wanted to look like Radio 1 DJs.
The public saw something else.
Cockermouth and Chris Pratt appeared again
Funny Business also received another outing.
The Cockermouth bike shop remained funny enough.
The local report claiming the callers had been Chris Pratt and Danny Howard made it significantly better.
Scott said the mistake might be the most flattering bit of publicity Chris Stark had received from the feature.
The tattoo and hot points made the weekly montage
Ali’s fresh “Father’s Day is on Sunday” tattoo returned, along with the growing list of listener hot points.
The archive already demonstrated the range of the show in a single week.
A permanent tattoo based on a New Zealand quiz clip could sit beside serious analysis of why reversing a car well was attractive.
The blue carpet closed the recap
The Friday edition also returned to the blue-carpet Where Do You Think They Were? story.
Scott was still amazed by how precisely parents remembered surfaces, room layouts and background details from events which happened decades earlier.
The Friday montage had one practical benefit.
If Chris wanted to know what he had missed while away, almost the whole week was now available in one place.
