Friday Extra Show: Scott actually turned up
Extra podcast edition
The Friday Extra Show was normally Chris’s territory.
This week, Scott joined him.
The automatic transcript repeatedly inserts unrelated presenter names around the podcast branding, but the conversation itself is clearly Scott and Chris.
Having both presenters available meant Friday could revisit several stories from the final week of March in much more detail.
Isabel’s flat had become a relationship house
The first story returned to Isabel, the caller who discovered two of her housemates had secretly been dating for eight months.
Once the relationship became public, Isabel began noticing all the ways the household changed.
The couple occupied the largest sofa together.
Their long bathroom visits suddenly made sense.
They had apparently been going on dates and sharing showers while everybody else still believed the situation was casual.
Scott thought hiding the relationship may have been part of the thrill.
Now it was public, the dynamic could change again.
Isabel was still considering whether she wanted to continue living there.
Shared showers remained under investigation
The secret-couple story had already convinced Scott and Chris that showering with another person was massively overrated.
The Friday podcast invited people with actual evidence.
Bryony described showering with her partner after a night out while staying at his mum’s house.
Both had been drinking.
The bathroom had a tub rather than a huge luxury wet room.
During the shower, Bryony slipped or fell backwards.
She pulled her partner with her.
The crash was loud enough for his mum to come into the bathroom.
A supposedly romantic shared shower had ended with both people in a heap and a parent investigating the noise.
Scott considered the case closed.
Nobody could think of a benefit
Chris phoned other listeners and asked what was genuinely good about showering together.
One caller became hilariously stuck.
They had agreed to defend the activity.
When asked for an actual advantage, almost nothing came to mind.
The silence became the answer.
Scott and Chris were satisfied that the real experience involved cold shoulders, awkward rotation and a much higher chance of injury than films suggested.
Yungblud returned in the extended cut
Friday also replayed more from Yungblud.
The Doncaster Free Press discussion remained one of Scott’s favourite parts of the interview.
Yungblud could tour internationally and date another major artist.
Local newspaper coverage still delighted his family.
The podcast also returned to Music Video or Adult Video, where Yungblud had repeatedly failed to recognise comments beneath his own videos.
His outraged “no” after almost every wrong answer had become instantly repeatable.
Chris discovered a family connection too late
After Yungblud left, Chris’s cousin Sarah, who had connections around Doncaster, messaged him.
She had gone to school with Yungblud.
Sarah had details from before he was famous which Chris could have used in the interview.
Unfortunately, the information arrived afterwards.
Chris was frustrated by the missed opportunity.
Scott thought it was probably safer for Yungblud that Superfan Steve-style school research had not unexpectedly appeared in the middle of an interview.
March ended with exactly what Friday Extra did best.
A longer celebrity cut.
Listener aftermath.
And several pieces of information the weekday show discovered only after it was too late to use them.
