Scott’s Radio 1 Movie receives a five-star review
Greg James began the programme in Scott’s place, explaining that Scott was stuck on a train after the previous night’s Carlisle International Film Festival. The weather had made the journey difficult, leaving Greg to fill in while Scott attempted to get back from the premiere.
Rhianna reviewed Puss in Boots first, admiring Antonio Banderas’s character, the fairy-tale mash-up and the film’s broad appeal. The more important review, however, was the one Scott had been waiting for: the Radio 1 Movie, which had finally gone online after weeks of increasingly elaborate promotion.
She had been at the Carlisle screening and praised the effort put into its deliberately makeshift glamour. There had been a red carpet, cardboard Oscars, gold stars and a Carlisle sign made to resemble Hollywood, all created by students who gave the event considerably more ceremony than a Radio 1 joke project strictly required.
Rhianna also picked out the film’s Big Weekend material, the wedding story, the friends reunited from England and Australia, and Greg’s awkward encounter with Reggie. She gave the film five stars, a verdict Scott arrived in time to hear after his lengthy and uncomfortable train journey.
Back in the studio, Scott encouraged anyone who had missed the 7pm launch to watch it online. Chris admitted that the wedding section had nearly made him cry, although his explanation of the feeling was characteristically less elegant than the film itself, and Beccy’s impersonations of famous people wanting premiere tickets were replayed as further evidence of the week’s chaos.
