1 December 2016: The Whooovent Calendar opens its first door

Hollywood makes the show late

Clara Amfo begins the programme because Scott and Chris are trapped in a nearby room recording something they are not yet allowed to identify. They can only say that two of the world’s biggest film stars were involved and that an unseen representative of Hollywood has forbidden them from revealing more.

Both insist the interruption was worthwhile. The guests were friendly, the video is enormous and the finished result will explain why Chris had to buy a smarter shirt on his way to work. Listeners immediately begin guessing, increasing the danger that Scott will accidentally disclose the names before permission arrives.

Cam returns to the wet area

Cam from Sigma plays Innuendo Bingo without his musical partner Joe and borrows Chris’s familiar pig costume. He discusses working with Birdy, the guests who joined Sigma at Big Weekend and the regular confusion between Sigma and Sigala before the water begins.

The clips include a Cantonese silversmith named Wang Hing, police looking for anybody offered a cheap goose after 1,500 birds disappear in Norfolk and rugby commentary that quickly defeats both players. Cam survives the soaking and leaves an open invitation for Scott and Chris to visit Sigma’s studio.

Door one and a trip to Glasgow

The first door of Mark’s Whooovent Calendar is opened. Instead of chocolate, it contains an old sound or forgotten face designed to produce a huge “Whooo”, beginning a feature that will continue every day until Christmas.

Scott and Chris also explain that they will miss Friday’s programme because they are travelling to Glasgow to film Robot Wars. Their exact role remains vague, although their nervous discussion of driving, weapons and the production team’s expectations suggests that the apparently simple television booking may become much more complicated.
