18 December 2008: Scott wrapped Christmas presents and people in increasingly bad ideas

What’s Occurring? became festive

The games shifted toward Christmas, with the usually silent member of the team facing mince pies instead of the sort of challenge used at other times of year. Seasonal food was now functioning as sporting equipment.

Wrapping moved beyond presents

A prank involved making a gift look as though it had been wrapped or shrink-wrapped in an unexpectedly elaborate way. Listeners then supplied stories about wrapping whole people in Christmas paper, proving there was no sensible boundary once the topic had started.

Some ideas needed a safety warning

The programme had to point out that being wrapped in paper while driving would be an extremely poor festive decision. A public vote on favourite television detectives and more classified-shopping material gave the show safer alternatives, but the attraction of wrapping something which clearly should not be wrapped was difficult to resist.
