28 November 2008: “Sorry you got fried chicken” became an actual leaving present

The card joke became physical

After accidentally producing the phrase about fired chicken, Scott’s flatmate somehow decided that actual fried chicken could work as a leaving present. The team immediately saw the risk that the gift now made the original wording look completely deliberate.

Every detail made the situation more awkward

There was further concern that commenting on food might be taken personally because the colleague was described as slightly plump. What had begun as a typo had now expanded into a gift, an explanation and several new possible insults.

Permanent marker and racehorses joined Friday

A listener wanted advice after Paddy McGuinness signed her boob in permanent marker, echoing the programme’s earlier autograph discussion. An instrumental inspired by Leona Lewis had attracted thousands of downloads, while a horse named What’s Occurring? competed without providing the glorious result Scott hoped for. The show began wondering whether it needed its own racehorse to improve the odds.
