27 November 2008: Scott’s flatmate accidentally wrote “sorry you got fired chicken”

A leaving card needed emergency repair

Scott’s flatmate had written a normal farewell message before discovering the colleague was not simply leaving but had been fired. Trying to acknowledge the new information produced the extraordinary phrase “sorry you got fired chicken”.

The salvage attempt made everything worse

The show discussed whether the card could be rescued without drawing more attention to the dismissal. Every possible correction seemed to make the message stranger, turning a small workplace mistake into a problem with no dignified exit.

Christmas crackers and celebrity rankings followed

A public survey asked for favourite celebrities, with names such as Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp performing strongly. The team also discussed unusually embarrassing Christmas-cracker contents, including miniature handcuffs, while Beccy’s Classifieds found a close-up magician charging by the hour. None of it matched the accidental brilliance of “fired chicken”.
