I wonder if Jack will still do the chart on Friday 1st or if it'll be a theme day

Yeah James is getting lots of air time with different shows. He was great both paired with Mollie for the weekend and the other Friday by himself. He's on the chart in for Jack this week, heard Vick mention him on Sundays first look show.

I wonder if James Cusack will be booked this year with Global, after appearing lots on both Heart and Capital this year, it wouldn't surprise me if he popped up on their stations across Christmas and new year.

I heard him talking about the wedding songs he didn't and shouldn't be played at weddings because of their lyrics, which was very funny

When I heard Emil before on Radio 1, while good he did seem to do an older targeted show with the topics and general chat that made me think was he much more suited to Absolute and their audience. James does more R1 target audience material and then they have tended to put him on more recently. Gives off the Jordan vibes a lot. I'm still not sure we've heard the last of the Mollie and James idea they had a few weeks back.

Agree it seems likely Jordan will do Xmas day breakfast. I think I saw that Arielle is doing some work abroad around NYE so I wonder if she will be busy to do that if you take in travel the day before/after. I think it'll feature Sam & Danni and James Cusack as the daytime presenters for that week

This would be a strong Christmas lineup for 2 key shows on the schedule and the country does seem to get back to some kind of normality from the 27th through till NYE.

James is definitely the Jordan of a few years back. A nice surprise to hear him out of the blue on Friday, we were on call and my work mates who have zero interest in radio said he's really good. The thing he did with Dean on the phone was very Scott-esque and if its true that he thought of it that morning after getting the call up, thats a very creative presenter. The whole show was an entertaining listen and to say it was last minute, you have to wonder how good he'd end up being with a regular show. I know others have said this in chat and other topics, I'd be very surprised if they didn't give him his own show next year, it's long overdue.

Agreed. The target of a daytime show outside of London could have been met without the instant quality drop. It just doesn't seem to have improved that much over one year on unfortunately, whereas other shows and presenters have

I don't know if Katie was offered the breakfast show that moving to London would be too much of a problem! That's a huge show to be asked to do. I agree with you, I preferred it as Jordan and Katie together, it was really good. That also means that Mollie could be paired with James again which definitely worked and was brilliant when they did a full weekend of shows. There's potentially 2 brand new shows for them right there that have only come about in the last couple of months.

Yes all speculation. It's always been Matt covering Greg for as long as I can remember. Its stuck out with it being two breakfast covers that have gone to jordan now, so it's two times in a row he hasn't been available, Matt still being on air both friday's and then Mollie put on breakfast away her regular show with Matt. I'll be happy to hear something new and Jordan and Katie were great together so this should also be a good listen

Based on what we've seen, the fact Mollie has her own show, plus is being partnered up with other male DJs on the station, I really doubt they would want to let her go. I do think it's entirely possible that given M&M in the current format hasn't made it to weekdays, they'll be looking to the future and thinking, how long should it stay like that for? What's the development of that slot? Is Mollie better put together with someone like James or Jordan to make a brand new show for weekdays? It sticks out like a sore thumb that they've passed Matt for breakfast cover twice in a row over Jordan

It looks like Matt is available if he's still doing the Friday on both weeks. It looks like Jordan is now the go to for breakfast cover and Matt isn't which is quite telling. Jordan and Katie covering breakfast was very good however so it's got a fair bit to live up to.

It's actually a struggle to think any who are single. The only one's I can possibly think of is Charlie Tee or Jeremiah? No one from weekday daytime or weekend daytimes. I wasn't around for One Night with Laura but looking at it I'm not sure they would either!

They do and I hate to say it you're right, Dean just doesn't come across as popular at all and isn't that the aim of the game, to be popular to your target market? D + V are better solo. In contrast I'm Radio 1s exact target audience and I only read on facebook, on here or on Digital spy people saying good things about James, either when he's by himself or after this weekends shows with Mollie King. Also is it just me that thinks if you put someone like Mollie and James on afternoons you instantly put a bit of that prestigiousness back into radio 1 daytimes that it lost when Scott went? A presenter who is actually well known (Mollie) and presenter the audience clearly like and warm to and who fills the northern gap (James)

I've seen James posting some show clips on his instagram. Listening back now that kind of show could easily be on weekday afternoons and better what I could listen to at this exact time. Them two together was really fun. He's showed what a brilliant Radio 1 presenter he is. From poking fun at mollie for being late (but in an endearing way by saying how he does it too at home and we all do it) to then his humour which is very self deprecating. His features are very creative, content is bang on target, he's naturally funny and most of all you feel like his mate. Bringing that northern relatable guy feel to the show that I think Radio 1 is very much missing. Definitely has the jordan north likeability factor. Radio 1 would be mad not to give him his own show or one with Mollie. Seems global have taken note now, they have him on both Capital and heart (which no other presenter does) and it'd be a big loss if they got him to sign full time before Radio 1 moved. My bet is on the next change a show for him either solo or with Mollie after this weekend.

Mollie and James has been a good listen so far this weekend with some funny bits in there and you feel like you know James and what he's about straight away, definitely gets the northern lad tick too. They did a couple of his own features including sherlock phones which was really strong

Charlie Tee is a good listen and did a good job filling in for Jeremiah last time. Interesting that aled is trying a few new ideas. Mollie and James on the schedule for 3 days in a row is definitely one to note and I'm looking forward to hearing

That is a bit of an interesting one as Mollie usually does them solo when matt's off, they don't usually pair her with anyone. I do like listening to James when he's on so it'll good to hear them both together for a weekend.

I liked the show. It will no doubt take them time to settle into the show, the features will come in time. I wonder who comes up with them if its them or the producers. In the way of features, I've mentioned before that James cusack always has very strong and funny features and more than anything they are original like the hiss off game he did. We laughed at that at work. He's also a very likeable guy and gives off that mate feel like sam and danni do. Pretty easy for Aled to expand his show into a regular for radio 1

I think it'll be a good couple of years before sam and danni move into a weekday slot, especially as they haven't begun on weekends yet and if any lesson is learnt, its rushing "new" presenters into a weekday slot is a bad idea. I think there's more to change before that, such as RMC coming to a natural end and potentially Matt too. There's also the chance someone may consider Dean and vicky just aren't good enough for afternoons, a buffer between Mills and someone actually good if you like. All that could end up happening at the same time

Katie did once cover with dean on scotts 1-4 show so I wonder if it didn't work out. Either way both Katie and James Cusack should be on the station more. They're both doing much better stuff than the likes of RMC and definitely dean and vicky and they are much more relatable to someone like me in target audience
