  1. Vick and Jordan just played the clip of Arielle from "Slept or Not Slept" at the weekend so sounds like things aren't too bad.
  2. Jordan and Katie at Breakfast - how long have we been talking about that on here as the next potential Breakfast show hosts?
  3. Yeah - shouldn't have happened but she didn't say anything too outrageous.
  4. Arielle was definitely pretty well gone. I don't see it as a big issue - deserves no more than a private wrist slap.
  5. Vick and Jordan were talking on Monday about the Radio 1 DJs being hot - I wonder if they got the idea from here!
  6. Mark and Lard used to joke about their appearance but hey everybody is something to somebody! But seriously of the current crop - I struggle to think of one of them that wouldn't be somebody's "type". Even Pete Tong looks fantastic for 62 and Annie similarly at 83.
  7. Station is actually filled with good looking presenters when you think about it. Hard to think of any presenter that wouldn't tick boxes for somebody!
  8. But surely they would have announced that? Schedule is already updated and shows RMC at 1100 and Dean and Vicky at 1300. Though interestingly Katie still starts at 1030 on a Friday but maybe that is due to Anthems too.
  9. Some of the smaller headlines are interesting here. Friday Early Breakfast July - Conor Knight, Christmas 2022 presenter and on Radio Essex and Fun Kids. Friday Early Breakfast August - Yinka Bokinni, ex Capital Xtra Breakfast Presenter. Weekend Breakfast - Oré Olukoga officially covering until Sam and Danni take over in September Indie Show - Alyx Holcombe covering for Jack Saunders. Life Hacks - Shanequa Paris covering for Vick Hope over the Summer with Katie. She is a CBBC Newsround Presenter. Clara taking such a long break is rather odd - especially when she has had quite a lot of time off. I would speculate, the new Breakfast hours are basically a test and although it is clearly said that normal schedule resumes on 4 September this could be a sign of things to come. If so - you could see a change to daytime along the lines...it would make the 3 main daytime shows all 3.5 /3.25 hours long 0500 - 0730 - Early Breakfast with Arielle 0730 - 1100 - Breakfast with Greg 1100 - 1430 - Lunchtime with Dean and Vicky (Newsbeat at 1245) 1430 - 1745 - Going Home with Vick and Jordan
  10. Surely that that would have been announced if that was the case?
  11. It is interesting that they picked Vick and Jordan over Matt and Mollie who normally have that slot. To be fair - I guess you'd say that Vick and Jordan are much more likely to attend Glastonbury even if not working than Matt and Mollie so it makes it all a bit more authentic.
  12. I have to say Vick and Jordan at Glastonbury are proving a great listen - it was a good idea to put two of the station's biggest names on for this. They were always good from the start of their pairing but the chemistry between them sounds much more natural now.
  13. I agree with all of this. I also think the vast majority of the Radio 1 team come across as "warm" and I think that's important for the core audience. It's a very different era to when Moyles was at Breakfast.
  14. Sexuality is a spectrum and I feel that description fits me better than bisexual.
  15. Everybody's outlook is different on their sexuality. I am not in the closet but I don't talk about the fact I am "mostly gay" in work. However, as it isn't a secret I can't believe it isn't widely known. Nor do I care.
  16. Somebody's sexuality is irrelevant in 2023. Judge Jordan did say he was bisexual but that's just a character Jordan plays!
  17. Another thing about Future Sounds - is it me or are there more older tracks played on the show than there used to be? The vibe is just a world apart from the history of that show - I was curious and googled - look at this article about an album from the Evening Session which Mark Goodier originally created in 1990. That tone was carried on by Jo Whiley and Steve Lamacq, Steve solo, Zane Lowe and Annie Mac. Jack's Future Artists show is much closer to that style. https://apopfansdream.wordpress.com/2020/03/14/the-best-of-the-mark-goodier-radio-1-sessions-nighttracks-1992/ Thinking more about it, the problem with Clara feels to me like she is presenting it like a regular mainstream radio show. She's very competent but it has none of the vibe of exciting the listener about new music, it may as well be the mid-morning show on a Global station.
  18. Have to agree here. I have nothing against Clara and don't mind her but I have zero positive emotion either. Jack would be much better in this slot and him replaced by Kerrie Cosh, Alyx Holcombe or Nels Hylton. I'd probably prefer Kerrie as she has a broader taste in music.
  19. Capital didn't playlist Kylie at first but clearly have changed their minds based on her success.
  20. There isn't a clear answer to this. For me it's a two sided thing, a very established artist shouldn't be played by default, equally they shouldn't not be played just as they have been around a long time. Coldplay and Adele are good examples. Also note that Capital didn't play Kylie's single.
  21. I hadn't heard the Kylie single - definitely not Radio 1 2023. But then I read the Tik Tok stuff around it and it seems it is appealing to younger audiences too. But I guess it's more than that and it is about "what is the sound of Radio 1".
  22. Rickie and Melvin to leave. Charlie will stay for Dance Anthems. There will be a permanent Friday Early Breakfast presenter.
  23. 9 June & 10 June 1200 to 1400 Radio 1 at Download with Dan, Jack, Alyx and Nels. Dean and Vicky on the Friday (in for Katie) are on 1030 to 1200 as is Katie on the Saturday and Matt and Mollie 1400 to 1600. Vick and Jordan Live from Glastonbury Friday 23 - Sunday 25 June 1300 - 1600. (Including Party Anthems on the Friday)
  24. I listened back to some of him on Monday and it was a decent listen. He actually brought me back to Radio 1 when he was on Breakfast after finding Moyles unlistenable in his later years. Though I found the show a bit tired by the end and was glad when Greg took over. Grimmy on Radio 1 Drive was always a bit flat and "going through the motions". Vick and Jordan are such a world apart,
