His replacement will be on the show on Wednesday

Apparently he’s successful with younger audiences, although I imagine Matt and Mollie’s show, where he presented, probably skews younger (I.E. a lot of kids listen) because of the family timeslot.

For what it’s worth the tour is five dates long, two are on the weekend and one is on a Wednesday, so he’ll probably only miss two shows.

For now. The good thing is that most of the features of the show, and the general style should remain, especially as Vick is staying on.

Would they have the capacity to have a live show in the afternoon? I wonder if capital approached Scott then before Jordan

Alex hasn’t been on the radio since he did Fridays in November 2021, but he was very good and surprised he hasn’t been used since.

I suspect so, given that he’s going to a direct rival. I don’t understand the problem with announcing that Jordan was leaving second. Apart from Scott, when they didn’t have a replacement lined up, they’ve always structured their press releases to have the announcement of the new presenter first, as seen by Adele, Grimmy and Annie. Yes, the rest of the reception has been extremely cold, but I don’t blame them given that he’s going to a direct rival at the peak of his career.

Also sounds like it’s a decision that’s only been made in the last couple of days.

One who I wouldn’t be surprised to leave in the near future is Arielle. She never does cover shifts anymore and now we’re at the stage where Sam and Danni are picked over her.

Vicky is off so Nat is on with Dean, hence they’ll either move Sam & Danni to drive and put Ore on earlies or just have Vick on her own.

Been feeling the same, it was nice to have them there for a couple of hours in the afternoon. At least Vick is staying (for now). I don’t believe that they’d told him he wasn’t in the running for breakfast in the future. He’d been on NYE, Christmas, doing endless festival coverage and cover slots even up to last year when he did the chart. And he was popular with the listeners. So if the station didn’t consider him to be the next flagship presenter considering he was so committed and popular it would say a lot about the direction AHJ is taking that he’s placed Dean at the helm of his future plans instead. I noticed his last words were ‘picky tea’ yesterday, probably deliberate. And he’d had a little dig at the BBC for not letting them announce big news related to Reading+Leeds. So there may have been trouble between the two parties. I don’t think I’ll follow him, yet. Greg is still at the top of his game and I don’t know if Jordan will be able to replicate his style on Capital with the different format there. The music is also slightly more repetitive and less varied there. If Greg ends up going and he’s replaced by someone like Dean I’d probably switch over, in the mornings at least.

Suspect they’ve just done that to have the Mega Massive Mondays image.

Katie’s on holiday next week so I suspect it will be Vick solo who’s left to deal with it (unless they stick Arielle or Nat on with her). it’s not like they’ll be mentioning him, especially as it’s Mega Massive Mondays.

Sources that be seem to think that Roman will be announcing his departure on Monday, presumably during the show so that it’ll be cleared up by 3.30. you can’t blame either party really, if you’re the BBC you obviously don’t want to give a platform to the presenter who’s gonna be presenting your rival’s main show in a few weeks And you can’t blame Jordan because presumably he’s got himself a nice new pay packet (even if he’s sold out a bit..!).

Jamie Laing does feel like a temporary appointment but at that stage surely it would’ve been better to use Arielle with Vick? Pretty sure they did the show together once a couple of years ago and it worked well.

I always thought that was because Scott didn’t want people to follow him so they stayed with R1. Chris announce he was going to capital 8 weeks before he left and didn’t even start there for 3 months although in this situation they’re probably waiting for Kemp to announce his next move (if he’s going at all)

Katie didn’t even mention Jordan by name and only referred to him euphemistically (work husband) and didn’t read out any of the texts about him either, they must be very bitter

I know it probably means absolutely nothing but the schedule still has him on on the 4th March, probably meaning it’s been quite a sudden thing.

He must be going to global then. They couldn’t post a press release as a prank.
