  1. Think with BBC Radio 1 doing more anthems stuff, shorter links and high amount of songs with little playlist turnover little change over and maybe what is new or added to the playlist should be at the top rather than what has been in the chart for over a month. Think the station needs to do less over played less throwbacks that are from chart topping artists who songs only few years ago had high playlist positions on chart positions. Think much like how Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s price matches Aldi maybe. Radio 1 does that too much with Apple, Amazon and Spotify. Than doing enough of giving you something that you’d like that isn’t in your playlist. Think even though its the case that songs stay awhile in the chart and people will listen to a lot of the same but much feels audiences tastes are getting niche and of different genres. Just needs to keep on mixing things up on its overall playlist so things don’t over tire out and trying to get ahead across all the time whether morning noon or night at different time slots the station looks ahead musically and gives you something different than what you already know. Recently it’s only really been 6 Music making such significant growth out of BBC’s Music stations so think having regular mix and distinct music playlist pays off and what is with shorter links. I feel if you going to play so much music you got to do a lot of making it sounds exciting.
  2. I think being 21 turning 22 on Saturday the right medium is needed. Think if I heard Moyles breakfast show and any Gen Z or Gen alpha think there would be majority turn off. Think now management maybe properly reigning things in and even for what Radio 1 could do on social media and podcasting and l for its like the content isn’t really fun reflection or engaging to what is going on with the station and good reflection of what the station is doing on air and a good brand extension on air. I think soon new management is needed. As think if Radio 1 is looking to the next era and generation in many aspects of its features and social media and multi media content and production it seems toned down then up. As there isn’t as much original video entertainment content or right use of social media to drag in new audience. Don’t think theres lack of the distinctiveness of having shows like Radio 1’s Stories and varying other features the station and initiatives it tried. Think there needs more content ideas for the brand as the station looks fraction of it was. I think it needs fresh management and hire more people with fresh ideas of maybe people behind popular podcast outlets, digital multi media news and social accounts and people who produce creative content and stuff like podcasting events. For music maybe people who produced on stations like Reprezent.
  3. Need any podcast recommendations? I can give you some for me if im listening to radio at that time its either Matt Chorley on Times Radio or Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music
  4. If I was Dean and Vicky I’d be tempted to try to do an exclusive spoof interview satirical bit with any listeners they can find ahead of broadcast with name Liz Truss and chuck some questions out for fun and get someone like Joe Lycett on for bit of a post feature jibe. Give the launch bit of edge say what is coming up for the week maybe have a post livelounge feature with performing artist of the day
  5. I also think if Radio 1 replaced Radio 1 Anthems with something like the Radio 1 Playlists where could not overly edited and some times guest selectors with different themes like could do like a Carnival Playlist at end of august to Uni Freshers Playlists or something with the minute and moment or marking the taste-making of the DJs and presenters
  6. I take a different view. Doesn’t help as they don’t really reveal the stats in a very well communicated way and they lost since sounds a most listened to category within the app for those of us can watch trends of whats the most popular. I think in terms of on demand listening there needs to be better promotion and plugging of the post peak programming like Future Sounds strand of programming introducing and even brilliant mixes and playlists that focused on playoing something different
  7. It’s lasted too longer than it should think good throwbacks works on a more whim and less wedged in. Think when it comes to older songs from 5 + years ago its tends to be the same type of songs and a very repetitive playlist it works when its a song that the station hasn’t played for years think sometimes having a one from the bottom of the playlist from years ago that never got that much play at the time but it sounds and aged well is a bit better to try sometimes. I know when mixes are too overly editted to fit in other songs. Don’t like the indulgent throwbacks in a jukebox generically editted way like anthems are these days as it’s nothing different from all the other commercial throwback style stations.
  8. Maybe could end up being right about Jack Saunders but personally would be wrong if they overlooked Jack Saunders for the time slot. I think may said this before if he was moved to daytime even if weekend would like to see him retain a specialist slot like Huw did during his tenure on weekend afternoons. I kind of feel if Sam & Danni join the station think Radio 1 should close the doors on co-hosts and double or triple acts for a bit at least until the number is diminished to a small few.
  9. It would be ridiculous to expect every gay person to like the same things like drag and musicals. But Britney the woman produces good pop! ?
  10. I think given the longevity of Scott’s career and those who left. Think Aled is trying to consider and the management which always is a hard tasks how for teen or tween who may decide to tune into Radio what they want to hear and who the voices they want to have for listeners to grow up with
  11. Wonder if Dean and Vicky would bring in any listeners in ways to create new listeners as some of Scott moves to Radio 2. Right with PDP and with the points of Friday Night Dance too. Yes think Dean can be but marmite and can be bit annoying. Really hope him and Vicky do good with it even with not my cup of tea. Do hope am proved wrong
  12. Think point of having mix of music and entertainment in the later slots of an evening is important. As much like Scott’s last words if bit low had bit of a shit day having a feel good distracting, something positive and uplifting something that can be interactive and bring the listener in whilst making relaxed whilst bit of a laugh. As it can be good time for injecting some comedy.
  13. I definately agree with thoughts on the nighttime slot as something post The Indie Show and The 8th is lacking when Huw Stephens did the late night show he was a voice could have on late night and listen probably would’ve liked Phil and Alice’s stuff. Think they need to go for more nieche genres and sub-genres of new and underground music between hours of 1AM-4AM again and maybe expand the Future line of show Future Beats, Future Bars, Future Bass, Future Fusion or whatever and the current future programming then. Slashing the Dance/Relax generic playlist programming that happens as through the night content. I kind of think that Benji B’s Chill Playlists, Get Set, Chill Mixes may work and fit but doesn’t need to be collated to a 24 hour on-demand stream same with Dance kind of feels like when Alex Lester and Janice Long got kicked off overnights as a year experiment had different playlists across Radio 2’s night schedule. So no presenter content for the ‘grave yard shifts’ until they hired OJ Borg. Think more presenter led and radio sounding content is needed in the night time. Think changes are needed aren’t that hard to resolve. Think it would be good to see better commissioning anyway
  14. Clara Amfo just doesn’t work on future sounds sometimes I feel she doesn’t have the conviction the confidence and the authority of the tone when you are on the mic in ways that specialist broadcasters of the show like Annie Macmanus and Zane Lowe even Huw when covered. Love to hear ones passion the full force behind the songs playing when do specialist programme. Future Soul firm favourite of what I like on Sounds. Hard slot to do for Danny’ think he probably does alright but not one bothered to choose to listen to. Power down playlist nightly from 10PM needs to be axed and scrapped. Dean never gelled and at point would tune into the station less.
  15. I’d say that final tap end and bombelao seemed like a nice wrap-up to a superb 24 years
  16. Will say it’s some of the best in times great to see how inside music is on its way back with Willow, beabadoobee, Steve Lacey, Nova Twins and Self ESTEEM
  17. With names like Matti Chaibi then Kerri Cosh, Jess Izsatt and Mo Ayoub doing specialist programming wonder if eith the volume of presenters apart of the Radio 1 family now with the volume of regular cover from several names. Much like with 6 Music having likes of Deb Grant, Huw Stephens and Nabihah Iqbal wonder if there is point of year maybe 2024 even another switch of night-time weekend and breakfast.
  18. I think it will be bit of both maybe drawing up new feature ideas and maybe involved with new celebrity bits. Though having four people on air unless Sonny Jay left the show would seem quite crammed. He could easily end up featuring on capital’s marketing campaigns but maybe producing podcast video and social media bits as Global seems to be focusing a lot on developing that important ‘Global Player’ brand
  19. Most certainly welcome! I’m sure they will be pleased to see what kind act of respect you done for them and how thoughout Scott Mills and Chris Starks career you always been supportive of them!
  20. He was much, much better with his drive time programming
  21. I did like hearing Jameela Jamie presenting it as it was the music of my teenage year she’d play. That is a quick run off the chart it feels it didn’t feel that long. Know Clara Amfo was the shortest run of the chart.
  22. Scott and Chris, before you become a whoooo! And this forum this listener becomes so bereft without the Scott and Chris show that we wrap ourselves in paper until you meet again. In life all good things come to an end. Thanks for the memories even if they weren’t so great (that isn’t true). I’ve listened to you over many years. To make you feel old that I wasn’t born when you started at Radio 1 but if I stuck at university I would’ve graduated this year. Been there daily for the listeners hard times and the goods, but I have to praise you, praise you like I should. After finding Radio 1 as I started comprehensive School made me laugh many times with the Lolathan and many more things. Best of luck to you Chris at Capital FM and presenting a sports podcast for Global. Then to Scott to Radio 2 getting the big show able to bring the G’s back to Radio 2 am sure that you will have a long and fulfilled career at 2 creating many more memories and showing listeners what you can do. I knew you weren’t to stay forever. But I have a feeling one day someway, somehow you both Scott and Chris will be back stronger (maybe on That Scott Mills Podcast) Love Ya Bye, Aaron Williams (They//Them) from Port Talbot, South Wales
  23. If anyone is interested to know Adele Roberts stands in for Jo Whiley on Radio 2 next week whilst Annie Macmanus hosts for Lauren Lavern on 6 Music at breakfast time next week.
  24. Response to @Jono Idea of a card my message to tribute Scott Mills and Chris Stark’s tenure at Radio 1 reads:

For the hard times and the good, for the the greatest radio personalities I got to praise them like I should. For the laughter and the joy brought a smile to many of days soundtrack as comprehensive student then through to sixth form to early adulthood. A constant will be missed. Especially the ridiculously funny laugh out loud moments that no other radio presenters come close (well maybe Elis James and John Robins on 5 Live. But this isn’t about them’

Thanks for the memories they were quite alright actually. Best of luck with the future retiring to Radio 2 Scott and Chris going global, you will be back sure I know.

Love Ya Bye - Aaron Williams @aarjaewilliams (They/Them

  25. Not far off Mollie King’s new Future Pop show from launching and Rock Introducing it would be good to have that extra pop and addition to the future brand of shows
