I think thats the future of radio many people end up switching between radio playlist and podcasts and the switchable age of verity and the internet as with power of DAB+ want something dancey got station for that same for chill, chatty music news what you want is at different moods and think its in minds of all stations that when the listener wakes up, on the car to work, in work, at home on the way home, in bed and out at the weekend, in the gym on the way out out. If you listening to radio its not all going to be the same.

I think that I agree when look at Radio 1’s playlist gets really repetitive if I was the music team I’d make the station play the most new and fresh music of any station in daytime. Think it does get very stiff and if I’m getting the same music as Radio 1 got repetitive I’m not likely to put it on in daytime. Sometimes Radio 1 has lot more music and with Scott Mills departed from 1 and as when Adele Roberts, Matt Edmonson and Greg James go out the door of the station would go bit more edgy bit more less mainstream and keep music moving quick. Radio 2 has that feel. But, think Radio 2 needs to get the balance of the older tracks that 6 Music play of the classic rock and indie sounds. In terms of news on BBC’s Radio music stations like Radio 1 they need to look at daily podcast short form of headlines and documentary multi-media short form content thats regular providing also roundup social media clips and live events on social media and in person with ‘Newsbeat’ and ‘Lifehacks’ needs to work on making the youth concept of lifehacks and newsbeat a cohesive multi-media format brand name. Interms of sorting content of Radio 4/5live/world service to create a cost effective 24 news service for R2 and R1 listeners may work better if are told for more on this story as its breaking and as it unfolds flick over to BBC Radio News.

I like Stormzy and Dave but its thing of different ages and music tastes are very subjective. I think its with Radio 2 they are in a difficult position music wise with BBC with ageing population and interest in attracting new younger audiences. Wish the DAB+ market was bit more unique and varied as with 80s stations taking up frequencies space that could be for specialist music stations or alternative speech stations that better serve people of different ages, race, sexuality, gender, ability, cultures. I think for those who want a 1.5 are sent flicking the frequency if wish to by choice going to Radio X, Capital Dance, Heart and Absolute, Hits Radio, Kiss and Kisstory I’d argue that this stuff doesn’t need to be from the BBC I’d argue that Boom Radio has perfectly sorted out its Radio 2.5. I’d like to see more space and funding given to people with ideas for independent radio networks and stations to serve a nation wide audience. Personally would love to see stations like Reprezent going national and a full comedy radio station. Do think in terms of news content the BBC should ditch the ‘5Live’ brand and go for BBC Radio News and BBC Radio Sport. Think people may be open to go for some content commercial but there needs to be clear messaging of what you to a station for.

Yes, think thats the thing is Radio for anyone who would be zellenials or fully fledged Gen Zedders like myself a station like Radio 2 is musically not really for us yet. But think when my generation is consider the settled down generation with families of our own Radio 2 is going to not have the influence and the status it has now or it had. Though know with radio 1 is still for the families in daytime atleast and more so than the past in late nights stuff like Charlie Sloth’s show made Radio 1 less of the all time family friendly sound. Think with Greg James his breakfast show feels in my opinion more family centred than the general vibe of Grimshaw and Moyles for that I know in over a decade or so he will make steady audience for them. It makes sense that its very much that makes sense that Moyles does X over 2. But, for me musically I’m more 6 Music than Radio 1 in listening habits but thats to say really do connect with Radio 1 and do prefer their evening schedule to be of the best BBC offers musically with 1Xtra also. Think when it comes down to the playlist of what will be the ‘gold hits’ for my generation it will be just mix of emo/EDM dance to rap.

I kind of fine sometimes I’ll choose a station like Times Radio for their speech content and conversational show as find live radio can work well for responding for things political if get engrossed in the news. But, I find Vine very marmite.

Think there needs to be some sort of focus on anyway replacing the old idea of the top of the pops new years special with a live on the countdown to new years with big artist acts and names with big guest host as find the current format of BBC’s new years concert doesn’t work. Wish they persisted with Sounds Like Friday Night as the replacement for top of the pops. But to produce a mainstream pop music show whether weekly and annually in prime time that goes of a youth audience primarily but still attracting the legacy wider family market is hard build and expensive with little reward. I do hope that the BBC uses iPlayer its youth brands and talents and digital platforms to deliver something new age cultural centre point as Top Of The Pops did for generations. Something maybe that looks to something of more contemporary offering of a Jools Holland type of programme

BBC has announced with Sounds over time some non-starters the Eastenders Podcast never went anywhere so did Dotty’s Too Rude For Radio given that she left the BBC. Think over time BBC hasn’t known what to do with some of its BBC Sounds content. I assume it would’ve been one to rerun overnight over weekends after midnights. I do find with BBC Sounds their playlist shows have been quite messy and could have a show of mixtape and playlist that would last few months before launching something different. Definately the rumours of Virgin Radio been squashed. I mean its tough job for BBC with its podcast and playlist shows as think with the cuts to local radio and world service stuff like the more podcasts and playlists may come under scrutiny some irreliavent

Yes, Radio 2’s all predictable and their breakfast morning schedule likely be the ritualistic scheduling. Although the Christmas Day lunchtime show with what was Paul O’Grady hosting is a slot is free. Unless they have him on that slot as am aware Paul has taken his Christmas Day slot to Boom. Likely you could have one or two contractual Steve Wright shows over Christmas. As it is a treat for the Wright fandom (so to say) to hear him on radio would he be doing something on Christmas Day.

Apologise this is how I would as to the official BBC Schedule and how it WILL go out

Think seen on Deans social’s he is taking annual leave the next two weeks

On demand for Capital and Global Player is 7 days rather than BBC Sounds 30 days. For many reasons it’s time that they relaunched the podcast for their breakfast show. One thing with how things are done on Vick and Jordan’s show get decisive time stamp on the description of the episodes.
-
Think with Tina and Dom they are the more news readers and Aled would have been the producer chirping in and adding to the chat without being seen as a ‘presenter’ on the show when had comedy Dave would have been the entertainment contributing guy for comedy Where as James and Pippa are other producers. Given that they are all effectively presenters on Capital Breakfast with credits and included in the promotional pictures and thumbnails of the programme. Think the dynamic of a team of four maybe very different and something that hasn’t been done to my memory on UK radio in-terms of the zoo format. It’s something think Capital maybe bravely experimental with think these days Global maybe at the point of being confident to take risks. I hope that Chris Stark may breathe new life to Capital Breakfast. Think they may end up with more on air moments and attempts to make listeners laugh and not turn the radio off.
-
thought open a new topic thread on Chris joining Roman Kemp’s Capital Breakfast show. Cant help but to think it looks very over staffed don’t recall a radio show that has four presenters. I know some shows will have contributing voices of one producer may pop and say something on air nw and then person doing sports, traffic and travel, the main news reading. But not known any station to have a live music entertainment show permanently as day to day voice. It could be hard one to time who speaks when and find each others role especially with Roman Kemp the ring leader and Chris now in charge creatively. Think like with any four member pop group but harder making sure too many cooks in the kitchen doesn’t spoil the broth. But wouldn’t be surprised if they relaunch their breakfast podcast with bit extra behind the scenes bits and debriefs and any extra bits from interviews. But think Capital and Global hopefully use Chris’ eye for funny and entertaining radio across its schedule. Eventually down the ,line a creative team that could come up with ideas for segments and features could gel well for the sta

If it’s giving those hidden gems that never really heard or played or not really in the top 200 songs featured across Apple, Amazon and Apple of 00s throwbacks. It can work nicher the better I like a throwback on the radio which is a mood boosting banger or something so rare you think how haven’t heard it before straight to playlist what like about 6 Music. I would like Nat maybe having a wheel of features that were on Radio 1 in the 00s that would work if play again get listeners and occasional 00s stars to play them again. Or try something like yesterdays quiz 00s style

I think OJ Borg would be a figure for any surprise interim work like if a death of a presenter, illness or any immediate departure. He could be safe hands gap filler. Someone who could easily do more time where he is or a weekend playlist show at a time but don’t expect much more big things at the BBC. Not to say that in few years time a commercial rival would maybe like him to present a decent sized show. Drive is possible

Quoted from Ian Hyland ‘In the latest Radio Times, Trevor Dann (former head of BBC Music Entertainment) suggests Scott Mills has been brought to Radio 2 to replace Ken Bruce in a year or so. If he's right, we riot.’ Hyland is the TV critic for the Daily Mirror. I’d assume this is hearsay and unlikely. Could it to drive up anger with Radio 2 ‘ageism’ pushing out its older names and going for ‘younger’ broadcasters’ I expect Scott to settle in to afternoons for a good few years on Radio 2 and if Bruce announced a departure retirement for the sake of more time to spend travelling abroad, doing hobbies, family or any health issues given he is at retirement age. I’d see the station looking at figures like Lauren Laverne, Trevor Nelson and Edith Bowman as his likely successors. More time for music features that listeners like maybe carrying on with stuff similar to ‘Tracks Of My Years’, ‘Pop Masters’ and the ‘Piano Room’ or ‘Piano Lounges whatever they call it. If Fearne Cotton did still continued to do live daily radio and radio cover, instead of the podcasts and the pre-recorded 90’s show focusing on ‘Happy Place’ brand and more of self care with depression and anxiety think she’d be still a top name in for the job. Hope Scott’s tenure in the afternoon’s allows him to evolve naturally doing stuff with big guests in similar to Wright but over time adapt his style and form a new age of the Scott Mills humour that hope becomes integral piece of the stations furniture and personality. It will be interesting to see how soon the BBC’s next major radio change happens. Assuming BBC’s focus would be on the new BBC News TV service merger and such prepped changes for the future of CBBC and BBC Four content once those channels are turned off air. I’d thought it would be the case of making the current new programming across Radio 1, 2 and 1 Xtra settled in without any forced major changes to line up except for any retirements.

Radio 1's Major Daytime Schedule Changes: One Year On
BBCAaron replied to UnofficialStark's topic in BBC Radio 1
I find there is too much pop and chart songs than the levels of other stuff that Annie and Zane had with the show think I’d kept Clara Amfo in mornings but 09-11 with more music based show of new pop and mainstream songs maybe embedding the official trending chart in the show and having focus on the latest music releases and reviews, movie reviews and interviews with movie stars chats with Ali Plumb which would link in promoting his podcast and interview series embedding some of the content in the show, look at television and streaming must watches, gaming, festivals and gigs and maybe few competitions. An access all areas on culture and entertainment with in keeping the live lounge and bringing back an entertainment news bulletin Rickie, Melvin & Charlie do find were the wrong signings for the station and just don’t quite work I caught them few times in the evening were ok and bit better there but not ones I’d hire stuff like Club Charlie did work. I do think three one hour Power Down Hour Playlists is bit more excessive. Haven’t listened to much of Sarah’s show as haven’t been listening to much of dance think the excessive level of sampling sometimes and remixes of dance may have lead to a break. But would be good sounds listen. Right on hottest records -
I definately agree with point of anger. There are too extreme reactions to radio. Think there are plenty other stations me personally have mixed opinions of a 10’s show considering that in Anthems in the unofficial rotation of bit older songs, ten minute take over dance anthems, party anthems etc 10’s songs can be heard. Many of the artists from the decade like Lewis Capalid, Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Anne Marie, Dua Lipa, Foals, Ed Sheeran, Stormzy get played in bucket loads still don’t know whether would make sense to do more of the 10’s
-
I mean it will be interesting to see what the extent of the research asked and what it told such vague statement doesnt scratch the report. I think the station has challenge of making sure that its under 20s of the country as populous would be interested in turning on the station at least once a week and deliver some sort of excitement that can give sometime between music streaming, podcasts, social media like TikTok and any alternative streamable content. Always wonder what the people beyond the site would think on such points

Think with BBC Radio 1 doing more anthems stuff, shorter links and high amount of songs with little playlist turnover little change over and maybe what is new or added to the playlist should be at the top rather than what has been in the chart for over a month. Think the station needs to do less over played less throwbacks that are from chart topping artists who songs only few years ago had high playlist positions on chart positions. Think much like how Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s price matches Aldi maybe. Radio 1 does that too much with Apple, Amazon and Spotify. Than doing enough of giving you something that you’d like that isn’t in your playlist. Think even though its the case that songs stay awhile in the chart and people will listen to a lot of the same but much feels audiences tastes are getting niche and of different genres. Just needs to keep on mixing things up on its overall playlist so things don’t over tire out and trying to get ahead across all the time whether morning noon or night at different time slots the station looks ahead musically and gives you something different than what you already know. Recently it’s only really been 6 Music making such significant growth out of BBC’s Music stations so think having regular mix and distinct music playlist pays off and what is with shorter links. I feel if you going to play so much music you got to do a lot of making it sounds exciting.

I think being 21 turning 22 on Saturday the right medium is needed. Think if I heard Moyles breakfast show and any Gen Z or Gen alpha think there would be majority turn off. Think now management maybe properly reigning things in and even for what Radio 1 could do on social media and podcasting and l for its like the content isn’t really fun reflection or engaging to what is going on with the station and good reflection of what the station is doing on air and a good brand extension on air. I think soon new management is needed. As think if Radio 1 is looking to the next era and generation in many aspects of its features and social media and multi media content and production it seems toned down then up. As there isn’t as much original video entertainment content or right use of social media to drag in new audience. Don’t think theres lack of the distinctiveness of having shows like Radio 1’s Stories and varying other features the station and initiatives it tried. Think there needs more content ideas for the brand as the station looks fraction of it was. I think it needs fresh management and hire more people with fresh ideas of maybe people behind popular podcast outlets, digital multi media news and social accounts and people who produce creative content and stuff like podcasting events. For music maybe people who produced on stations like Reprezent.

Need any podcast recommendations? I can give you some for me if im listening to radio at that time its either Matt Chorley on Times Radio or Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music
-
If I was Dean and Vicky I’d be tempted to try to do an exclusive spoof interview satirical bit with any listeners they can find ahead of broadcast with name Liz Truss and chuck some questions out for fun and get someone like Joe Lycett on for bit of a post feature jibe. Give the launch bit of edge say what is coming up for the week maybe have a post livelounge feature with performing artist of the day
-
I also think if Radio 1 replaced Radio 1 Anthems with something like the Radio 1 Playlists where could not overly edited and some times guest selectors with different themes like could do like a Carnival Playlist at end of august to Uni Freshers Playlists or something with the minute and moment or marking the taste-making of the DJs and presenters
