  1. @NathanS see the possibility of Fleur East’s Breakfast show going national and bit of a rebuff on Bauer’s national outreach. I could see them pushing more money into marketing and promotion of their stations with nation wide advertisements on billboard busses and television wonder if like Global and BBC will try to develop an app or marketing strategy that links its radio names and brands more closely feel the Global app has helped people to tune in to other stations they might not and developed sister stations like LBC News and Capital and Heart Dance. Think Bauer developed good sister stations like Kiss with Kisstory and Kiss Fresh and the Absolute’s so many. Think the stations over at the Bauer stations lack being able to find radio content that is tailored to them. I overall think even if the BBC Sounds apps dont have the visual streams and multi media content links other radio apps have the tailored recommend section that is personalised for individual listener and have different moods that can find or listening content from all BBC Radio outlets very cohesive. I think it will be time that Bauer could end up playing catch up and other media outlets in the news media sector have yet to tap. I could see Hits and should maybe get one or two big names from the radio industry and needs to be able to rival Radio 1, Capital and Heart better. Feel Greatest Hits Radio may end up trying to pouch one or two additional names that are popular ‘celeb radio stars’ maybe get some adult contemporary tracks on presenter and some recent tracks of listener favourites like Diana Ross, Elton John, Rod Stewart. Ideally i have Absolute Radio and Radio X develop some content that rivals specialist content of music on BBC surprised if Shaun Keaveny either returns to XFM rebranded as Radio X or Absolute having more new cutting edge experimental shows that play more nieche genres and break new artists is needed to keep competition exciting. Wonder if could see more offerings in the talk radio sector a Bauer magazine type radio station or real podcast push if develop a cohesive ‘planet Radio’ app may be opportunity to offer a range of original podcasts relating to magazines they own and radio stations. Could we see another newspaper or media outlet join in the talk radio wave outlet that owns Telegraph and Spectator, The Guardian could join in. But wonder if it will be the case if could have credible talk radio offerings that do non music comedy and entertainment or having Scotland or Wales wide commercial independent national stations like LBC, LBC News and Times Radio. I mean think only maybe new things may see launch for BBC Radio 1 just minor changes of new playlist shows and podcasts of the bits overnight. Radio Paul Gamboccini could leave. But I see the case that more or less the departures will be at BBC from BBC News department

  3. I see Pete Tong tho should have some rest sort of show on Radio 2 as feel Fridays could do without being exclusively 80s/90s. He could still somehow have bit more time left as he’s untouchable. Annie is an exception to any convention about any longevity at Radio 1 her career is lasted decades longer at Radio 1 than any one expected defying the odds think as long as she can speak and mentally able to do the job she could do it for the rest of her living days how long they maybe. She launched an initiative for new female and nonbinary dj talent on radio 1 so that shows he commitment to Continue. I don’t think she’d retire. Neither would Tony Blackburn for that matter. Matt could see maybe one of the next ones to go next he’s one I could see doing stand in presenting on stations like Radio 2 or virgin Radio maybe he could be type that would do podcasts books develop tv shows as he has done list of stuff I think when leaves inf he could end up devoting time between family but taking on some presenting duties
  4. I think given contract Friday cover makes sense for Jordan and Vick to cover then. Fair point Scott covering for Chris Moyles when he did drive I think since I think he first started covering for Zoe and Sara on breakfast that’s probably felt Scott is safe hand to do breakfast. For any of the weekly daytime presenters I found Scott ended up doing the most cover did Chart few times when on Sunday and covered for Dan and Phil.
  5. You never quite see especially with BBC a drive presenter covering breakfast not really ever in commercial. I think Vick and Jordan may only ever cover Fridays. I think it’s because drive is quite a peak or big show in itself. They would be the favourites to take on breakfast tho
  6. I think maybe if could create a once a week request show or feature. I would definately since Radio 1 isnt a nostalgia driven station get rid as its a rebrand of the shows that went out on weekend surronding radio 1’s 50th birthday. I do feel that having a Friday saturday driven playlist of having upbeat energetic dance, pop, rap and rock new and old for that feeling such things better subtle i find. Sunday think a subtle chilled playlist new and old woven in would be more preferable with music based features that link in. With the more mainstream dance i think maybe ensure that there is rotation of tracks on playlist i do think unless if got more newer tracks to champion try to switch some out on the long playlist when new verity enters or extending the playlist numbers. I mean no issue really when MistaJam did it but think that style and format of dance anthems is now missing the bespoke elements of new and cutting edge dance or offering a taster of the network of dance shows that it should
  7. I’m not one for breakfast shows in mornings I’d either would Times Radio Matt Chorley occasionally very rare Stig & Asmah. I like the way Lauren Laverne does breakfast very lowkey and not over the top as it can be a poisoned challace. I like radio that feels more unique and not purposely populist and that doesn’t feel disposable that works around the moment that the show is on and that wouldn’t fit with repeats or leasurly listening. if it was me I’d chuck out Classic Anthems, and any type of anthems. Arguably Danny Howard did more preferable features i liked the remix or the future dance track and the new dance tracks that would make the show rather than oldies that it has become to Heart Dance than Radio 1 Dance. I like the woman who was covering Clara Amfo last week but in my opinion Clara Amfo hasn’t comfortably lead the show as a music specialist broadcaster with the authority of the know how and the skill it needs feels to passive than Annie Macmanus and Zane Lowe’s day think maybe specialist shows need more edge and more interviews or listening key for music fans that drag an audience of more aggressive music fans. I like Jack Saunders he reminds me of the energy and excitability energy that specialist music broadcasting is about a really strong broadcaster do miss having a diverse multi genre live show overnight like Midnight Drop features. Maybe they could drop overnight playlists that don’t feature non-presenter generic mixes as too commercial. New specialist shows needed. I feel Powerdown playlist could be either apart of a overnight specialist show or back to being embedded into the scheduled. I think on Sunday having powerdown playlists in the daytime schedule. Not always keen on fake live broadcasting anyway. I do feel that 22:00 it would be good if can interact with audience tho know sometimes will have some pre-recorded programming Some of the Radio 1 Relax programming is good but I would scrap the whole stream feed and radio 1 dance. I think maybe some minor redesign of BBC Sounds to promote Future, Relax and Dance shows in such easy to sort categories with cross promoting related content across Radio 1 and 1 Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 6. As it seems like the feeds do takeaway from the bespoke BBC specialist music broadcasting.
  8. I mean Scott Mills by now must be the stations longest continual daytime broadcaster in its history. Sure that there’s been no one to cover a breakfast show with 20 years into their career on the station
  9. I personally feel given there’s is a mid morning trio Scott and Chris come as a duo when do breakfast cover and afternoons and drive duo. Feel that one person cover would just be bit better I guess it maybe that either Vick or Katie may do solo afternoon or chart on Friday
  10. I wonder who will be sitting in for S&C possibly Katie T
  11. @R1Fan1 It’s disappointing that they don’t have presenters giving facts about the years music they are playing conversations around the memories listeners would have round then adding bit of creative responses to said anecdotes and get the presenters to drop one or two interesting, funny relevant anecdotes to music playing. Some sort of text topic. I mean it would’ve been good if this week for different chuck some live longe sessions or Maida Vale sessions to make things interesting or a yesteryear quiz as an alternative yesterday quiz. Think the presenters should be encouraged to give listeners facts about them or allow listeners to suggest questions to presenters to build a rapour
  12. I caught Elliot Darby found quite good I think some of the song selection and mixing is bit of but that’s more production issue found that when flicked over on the last four of Lifehacks but will tune in for the specialist shows on BBC Sounds
  13. I kind of agree i fine beat out of the later showe is Benji B. I did fine the thing when it had RMC and Charlie Sloth doing right later evening show was that a exclusive hip hop sound. As what liked before when had showe like Huw and Phil and Alice oh those later slots you get hip hop rap and grime sounds but with the sounds of indie rock, more experimental pop and electronic pop. I find Jack Saunders is as cable as Annie, Zane and Phil doing this but 22:00-05:00 in morning lacks the variation. I mean it’s like radio 1 has got the resources, money and talent to bring that diverse and eclectic playlist back
  14. Hours away from the first shows of this years festive takeover at radio 1 it will be interesting to see which broadcasters will come out as stars and the next generation of presenters at the bbc or national radio from these things. It seems like the previous ones have helped others careers
  15. I like Benji B’s radio show but feel that Benji’s, Rene’s and Annie Nightingale are proper radio programmes that are designed for the specialist listeners on radio sounds. I find they are capable decent safe choices for Rickie, Melvin and Charlie but when could be listening to Matt Chorley on Times Radio or Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music I’d most likely to choose them or playlist podcast or catching up on future soul than the RMC show. I do find RMC give overkill of voices that time of day. Not convinced on Clara Amfo on Future Sounds from listening. I find that theres too many playlists come after 01:00-05:00 when could have more specialist and live soft Entertainment think i do miss having a show like Huw Stephen’s and Jack Saunders in 22:00-01:00 i used to like bit of cross genre blend of music at that time. I do hope that Huw Stephens gets a show on 6 Music permanently in new year excellent covering for Lamo this week.
  16. My misunderstand thought you were talking about this Friday Christmas Eve not New Years
  17. @nathan15 I’m glad it’s not wall to wall takeover all star specials across Christmas Day but it would’ve been good at 06:00-07:00 or 18:00-19:00 some point of having a crimbo limbo period of festive takeovers for one hour targetted for sounds listening
  18. On bbc sounds it does say that its on from 16:00-18:00 15 more not less. Assume must be slight bit of confusion
  19. I do miss the chart of the year it seemed like an easy show to present produce remember before credit to Jordan presented the whole six hours of it
  20. I find it rather baffling that with the pandemic other stations are able to find the resources to get last minute presenters and stand in within days even with low production resources. Is it somehow bit difficult for a music station like radio 1 I’m surprised theres no one that is available id just start breakfast bit earlier possibly end it earlier to pre pandemic times if was stuck with that dilemma. Do find selecting purely Radio 1 Dance shows is bit of a cop out on Christmas period. Maybe air some Christmas playlists from BBC Sounds or any other BBC Sounds mixes. It seems that since the new schedule for duo and trio pairings have lead to presenting dilemmas
  21. I mean @Darren m there are quite a lot of partners of pregnant people who do work near to any moment of the pregnancy of their partner maybeready to take time off work at any moment remember it was pretty much at one point doing extra factor his first child was born and was still work heavy quite a bit. I mean Boris was doing Prime Ministers question then out pops child number x
  22. I’d keep the new presenter spotlight Christmas special but do it with more piloted specialist music and entertainment comedy ideas. I’d potentially maybe have some listener curated or polled bits that inform the Christmas limbo gap with some future focused content of music and culture. I like the blend that having something of Future Artists can deliver but early but doing at 8 is an odd one. think something like Power Down should be post midnight or maybe just scrapped from daytime and embedded into Sunday with scrapping Anthems on Sunday morn. Can’t comment on Greg’s show don’t listen. Only thing I’ll say about Scott show id dump golden moments when they do additional golden podcast drop on Friday and maybe have presenters dropping in on features swap brother or lover. id keep Best New Pop Just extend it for an hour
  23. I think with Jordan and Scott seen to be people with flexible work schedules and probably there’s contracted agreements to allow for extra work and special programming like Christmas and New Year. Think Nick probably had more weeks allocated of it felt like that anyway. I do feel that the New Years night should’ve always had a dance specialist and some mixes that Radio 1 typically do to soundtrack nightlife and party sounds. With the poppy playlist feel should be left to Radio 2. I think having some party anthems themed playlists in the day would’ve been good like Indie Party with Jack Saunders Pop Party with Mollie King Soul Party with Victoria Jane then go to the chart then have the evening with presenters like Jeremiah Asiamah, Sarah Storey with maybe some mini essential mixes thrown in. I mean if listening to Radio on New Year’s Eve either be 6 Music or Capital Dance
  24. I mean seems like Scott is getting quite a bit of work feel like his Christmas Day evening will be made a playlist highlight on the bbc sounds app. Think it seems like there will be for a while some worthwhile content to seek out and listen to on Christmas Day. If don’t catch live theres going to be some decent stuff to listen back on the iplayer and feel BBC Sounds will make thing to highlight in Christmas programming package. Felt that a breakfast 6 o’clock or 7 o’clock start works better given that some listeners may wake up earlier on Christmas Day and having breakfast then but depends on what shapes peoples Christmas routines
  25. Will keep an eye out for the schedule announcement then, i do think that best of the year or specials of Jordan and Vick and other daytime shows will make for a good change think its better to have artist take over dripped out over festive period to back to back. Noticed that BBC Sounds have already got some of their festive playlists available to download and listen now so think the Christmas highlights are soon know started with tv highlights of who’s on strictly Christmas special
