  1. Look forward to listening as the playlist isn’t my thing but would give his weekly a go
  2. The BBC are doing it a lot more if look back on any weekenders 1 xtra have done or some of the themed days 6 music have done they kind of put a sticker on the programme art work. Also seen that sticker on Radio 3’s Night tracks
  3. I do think that Matt and Mollie should leave at the same time I think that Mollie King could become good asset for Heart FM, Hits Radio or even Radio 2. If I was a commercial rival having someone that is a television personality and former pop-star who is a popular presenter a pop station. I think the station of Hits Radio isn’t as strong and doesn’t have a set image as it’s sister station Greatest Hits Radio should see Hits as a space to go all out pop station celebrating mix of girl bands, boy bands, one hit wonders and icon pop stars with playlists that follow trending songs on social media and the rising stars in pop.
  4. In addition to talking about Global Shaun Keaveny sets to launch a daily podcast for the Radio X brand who branched out to an XPosure Daily show. I wonder if they prepping him for X live show
  5. Depends on Chris Stark’s future at Global. I mean over year since Chris got going on Capital and Global and when signed his contract there was an agreement for him to make a sports podcast which I assume was set to be a like a News Agents rival to Newscast for Chris to front and produce Globa;s rival to 5 live’s flagship sports podcast. So he hasn’t been involved yet with any extra projects. Unless he continues producing at Capital and potentially doing presenting on Heart.
  6. I don’t think that the BBC for two weekly shows would have the budget to afford parachuting their rivals star presenter to do a smaller show and cost the station a lot moved and would make it seem as being too competitive. It wouldn’t be in the BBC’s best interests to poach him for radio.
  7. I remember there was a few times when Scott Mills was rumoured to be leaving before his time and the same for other broadcasters think most stations if they presenters are staying but reported to leave don’t like to address it on-air and rather find a quieter way of nipping it in the bud. If it’s false their employer may rather look at how that rumour leaked to the press.
  8. To be fair if he has already signed up and wishes to continue working at global it could’ve been like when it was reported that Scott was going to Heart or Steve Wright was going to Virgin Radio or possibly Greatest Hits but a year after the end of the Big Show ended he still remains at Radio 2. In fairness these reports are 50/50 most often so it might not happen. Although he’s signed to The One Show another idea is if ITV wish to poach him for This Morning get popular younger personality to provide some stability and sense of that it will have longevity.
  9. It seems that the Mirror are running the same story I would consider if I was Global poaching an under used presenter like Snoochie Shy from 1 Xtra and maybe experiment doing something like Virgin and Absolute do having their breakfast show across Capital, Capital Xtra and Capital Dance probably wont happen. But consider how good Chris Stark is at producing and generating ideas for radio they should consider having him as Creative producer for the Capital network as whilst with network like capital fm relies on the ads and music but having somet stuff in terms of features and segments aceross the week that could be shared across social media to drive listeners to the station

    My radio day

Yes, like @Old Codger Fan said unlikely to happen and what you said some broadcasters like Global would hate it and Jono think thats the main reason it would never happen. At least on-demand radio experience is vastly improving.

    My radio day

I think those radio player/ tune-in apps are missing out on a tool where you can create your own radio calendar if I had set radio routine that is station hoping it would be good to create your own schedule so it switches seamlessly without going into different apps or opening app and jumping to different service. I’m very on-demand but most of the time its a mix of Times Radio and 6 Music. But use a lot of podcasts, playlists and on-demand listening.
  12. I do wonder whether at in the next BBC charter review and review to it’s radio strategy could see a station like 1 Xtra leaving DAB and focus being on allowing Sounds to carry exclusive content and transfer existing radio brands to BBC Sounds internet radio stations.
  13. Agreed, did feel really short. Although I see it more as the pilot episode and will build more within time.
  14. I don’t think so as that would mean changing the BBC charter to include permission to expand their DAB and DAB+ offering and would defeat the object of BBC’s digital future strategies, current budget and funding and competition limitations and constraints. Radio 1 Dance and Relax already come under scrutiny when they launched in question of whether their are trying to monopolise on their competition. Whilst I imagine Relax and Dance streams attract listeners from the over 30’s and non Generation Z listeners. But considering the remit of Radio 1 is to focus on a youth audience especially trying to attract new under 25 listeners it wouldn’t feel like a fitting strategy and sensible use of the BBCs budget. With BBC set to shut its Radio 4 Extra station possibly making a selection of archived comedies and dramas available for listeners exclusively through sounds after it shutting down. I can’t see them launching a new service if it isn’t to replace a current service. I do wonder if they would in a cost cutting effort merge the World Service, BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live’s news programming to one service and end-up losing a one or two other speech stations to have a BBC Radio News that can carry mix of simulcast broadcasts with BBC News (TV) and putting flagship and leading programming like Westminster Hour, Today, Business Daily with having a tighter and smaller news and speech content package. I kind of see streams like BBC Radio 1 Relax and BBC Radio 1 Dance more these days like the streams on BBC iPlayer that are compared to FAST style channels. As they launched a Louise Theroux and History channel playlist of rotating content available on the service on a live feed yet to feature on the in-app EPG. But, it’s much like the festival streams where you have some live content but simulcasted. The BBC is unlikely to launch any new services on the medium of FM or DAB radio or standard terrestrial channels featured on satellite broadcasting and see the BBC even moving BBC Three back online by 2028 (big mistake to bring back on tv). But with that smart speaker to people listening on the go to radio or any audio via apps on their phone it’s not the obvious place to put it. With such streams though the BBC should arguably consider ditching the ‘1’ since content from other stations has featured from time on the streams. Arguably I think that there are many other shows that could fit the ‘Relax’ umbrella like Cillian Murphy’s series on 6 Music, Unclassified from Radio 3 and Angela Griffin’s Radio 2 show. Sherelle on 6M could fit Dance station but show could Jeremiah Asiamah and Tiffany Calver’’s programmes on 1X
  15. There’s that 6 Music listeners are a complex bunch it is now my station of choice and know some moan and groan with the song choices would be marmite with Mary Anne Hobbs and with Annie and Gemma Cairney doing cover think they have an interest of rocking its listener boat. But it sure is a sticking point think they are barely to have an influx some of their presenters compared to Radio 2 haven’t got as much former Radio 1 DJs
  16. I noticed that they will be amusingly on Future Sounds. Something Annie might’ve not thought she’d be back on Future Sounds part of ‘one night with’ series that Clara does don’t know what that entails as New Music Fix is my evening go to for radio. I know it’s a ‘flagship’ music podcast guess trying to make it like how ‘Newscast’ is the BBC’s flagship domestic news podcast. Think they want it to allow itself to find its feet. But naturally in five years time the pair could work on 6 Music as some of the elder presenters and listeners switch off and leave the station
  17. Yes saw that I guess it’s for now at-least exclusively on sounds. I know they did end up repeating James Acaster’s music podcast after months or year after it started. So maybe it maybe something they could do but guess its seeing how popular it gets and what audience
  18. if you are to be a on a youth station wanting a hip and trendy breakfast show like Nick did it’s not supposed to be the station your mum and dad enjoy it like you do. Think that Grimmy would have an attitude and eye that is at odds with the current management of the radio 1 and bbc three networks. eventually think when few figures like Marc, Gid, RadMac leave 6 I think Annie and Nick having a show together on the station would sound good. I remember that Chris Stark as part of his contract at Global he was set to host and create a sports podcast for the companies slats of originals maybe sitting along News Agents as a topical podcast almost a year into his Global career not any sign of the podcast.
  19. I think it does fill a void in the british podcast scene that there isn’t really a strong music conversation podcast that reflects of the music moments and stories of the week.
  20. I suppose least it isn’t going on till late people should manage to get to bed with a cup of horlicks before midnight.

    Dyslexia

Not aware of Jordan being dyslexic but as @Jono said Mollie King is an example and she has done some ambassador work for the dyslexia charity in the UK. I know through the Christmas line-ups of the past few year4s they had presenters who are autistic possibly also ADHD and dyslexic. I know Xanthe Palmer who has done some production work on Radio 1’s Lifehacks has dyspraxia but think by X bio she works at Persephonica productions and Radio Sheffield broadcasting came to light that Katie Thistleton has ADHD recently. I think with neurodivergent conditions if you have your coping mechanisms and strategies can make it so that your traits aren’t as visible. I’ve been able to interview a Times Radio broadcaster about his ADHD for a podcast that I do and know he is good friends wiith Jordan North, Darryl Morris. Think the broadcasting industries can be places to thrive.
  22. I never see this happening but think maybe for some of BBC Radio’s archive they make some of that responsibility of the content rights of BBC Studios that could sell its archive programming to third party and commercial networks including likes of Boom radio if they wanted to get access to the rights of some of it’s older content to solve this problem. I think that if they did a radio 2 extra as people want it it would just end up being Radio 4 Extra in terms of dishing out repeats. I see when it gets past time when Tony Blackburn, Paul Gamboccini and Johnnie Walker leave the station I think there won’t be anyone of the current intake of presenters that the elder listeners would listen to presenting a show that focus on that era that by 2030 will be seventy years old. I think the BBC inevitably needs to make difficult decisions.
  23. I think that between 6 Music and Radio 2 they can definately focus on playing and spinning some of the decade like they are I mean I could imagine Radio 6 playing slipknot from time to time to maybe some of the dance in rave forever some are already in indie forever with the indie music like The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs but don’t think that any station in the BBC needs a regular committal to playing set hours of a selected decade in their schedule. That said with Dance if they hadn’t scrapped Ana Matronic’s Dance Devotion and continued with a dance themed show they wouldn’t have a issue with the dance genre and think that gives too much weight for Charlie Hedges to pick up a mix of the genre on Saturday afternoons
  24. Think in 4-5 years time it might launch and suspect that in eary 2030s Radio 2 may ditch sound of the 60s potentially.
  25. I think 10s had the rebirth of grime, then scope of UK rap stuff like EDM, dubstep, afrobeat and k-pop and stuff like that. Where some of the sub-genres seem more niche and only attracting a certain demographic and audience.
