  1. Rylan was originally listed as covering Scott's 4th week off (w/c 18th March), but it's changed to Spoony covering all 4 weeks now. A bit of a shame as I was looking forward to hear him covering again. He was actually quite good when he sat in before Christmas. In my opinion the best person that's stood in for him. Edit: He's listed for the following week (w/c 25th March)
  2. Great news that Katie is joining Going Home full time. More than well deserved after working her way up, plus as good as being part of the Going Home team anyway. I'm not getting the recruitment of Jamie Laing tbf, especially after this announcement. The last thing we really needed was another trio on daytimes. It could go either way.. it'll either somehow work or it'll sound very crowded and disjointed. Will be interested to see if he's in it for the long haul, or whether he'll be quietly dropped as time goes on.
  3. This is probably the best thing to come out of all of these changes announced. I assumed their time for promotion to weekday daytimes had come and gone so it's a pleasant surprise that they're finally been given the chance. Of course they are a great pairing, but this is especially great for Matt, who has been on weekends for 11 years (and in his 14th year in total at R1). The only downside is having to pick between them and Scott over on 2 It's a shame Dean & Vicky never worked out as a pairing. Whoever replaced Scott & Chris had the tough task of following on from them, but they appeared to be thrown together and that doesn't always end well. Yes, however it's spun.. they've both been demoted but it's probably for the best Dean gets his own show again and Vicky does seem to work better with Nat. I think we'll at least see Dean back on a higher profile daytime slot again eventually on his own.
  4. I did think Arielle would move away from early breakfast before long. Her future is clearly part of the Radio 1 Dance family (plus her DJ career), plus it was unlikely she was going to progress to a more prime daytime slot at this point. If this enhanced Radio 1 Dance Station takes off, she likely be a big part of that. I can definitely see her on Friday nights eventually as well. I'm interested to see what form her new Thursday night show takes, and if it offers anything different to the existing dance shows on R1.
  5. This is a really random one. Plenty of presenters that they've used over the past couple of years at Christmas/bank holidays/Friday early breakfast that they could've called upon. I don't see the logic here
  6. I hope this is true. Matt & Mollie are one of the very few shows that still appeals to me on R1. This is what should've happened in the first place, with Dean & Vicky paired up on weekend lunchtimes to build them up as a duo. I wonder what happens to Future Pop? If it is surviving the evening show changes in April, I suppose it would be the right time to hand it over to Maia Beth full time who has covered the slot regularly?
  7. Gary Davies is presenting Pick Of The Pops again this week. Nicki Chapman is presenting Sunday Love Songs for at least the next few weeks. It will be intriguing to see how they handle these shows going forward in the coming weeks and months.
  8. They have to as part of their license requirements to provide a certain amount of hours of news and current affairs programming, which the lunchtime slot fulfils.
  9. What's the likelihood that Roman will announce his departure on Monday with Jordan appearing in the studio to be unveiled as his replacement live on air?
  10. I suppose "Jordan to get Breakfast" is kind of right... just on Capital instead..
  11. The breakfast show on Radio 2 has already moved into the new studios, and Vine finished at Wogan House yesterday... today was their first day at NBH. I read that Paul Gambaccini's Sunday night show is the last show from Wogan House.
  12. Will Jordan actually be back on the air at Radio 1 or had he done his last show? Roman's off again on Capital only a few weeks after being off for a couple of weeks, I wonder if he's done his last show as well?
  13. Roman already has that gig, they announced it a while back. He replaced Ronan Keating, who only presents the programme occasionally now.
  14. I honestly thought he'd be given the breakfast show on Radio 1 this year, and he wouldn't go elsewhere. Surely this is setting up for a Roman Kemp exit from Capital breakfast, with Jordan taking over? As for Jamie Laing... awful replacement in my eyes. Katie surely should've at least got it?
  15. Jason Mohammad sits in for Owain Wynn Evans for two weeks starting Monday 11th March.
  16. Liza Tarbuck is doing a special Love Songs on Sunday in tribute to Steve. Gary Davies will be at the helm of Saturday's Pick Of The Pops. They've changed the years covered to 1980 and 1996... the years he joined Radio 1 and Radio 2 respectively.
  17. What is clear is the admiration that the current generation of Radio 1 DJs had for him as well as his Radio 2 colleagues and other presenters across the industry. Dean just gave a nice little tribute at the start of the show. The 'Non Stop Oldies' is returning this afternoon during Scott's show (I assume at 3pm like it used to be) in tribute to Steve Wright.
  18. Sara Cox and Jo Whiley have done a good job this evening setting the tone just right and paying tribute to Steve.
  19. Very sad news indeed. I only listened to Pick Of The Pops on Saturday. Radio legend. Nice that Vick & Jordan acknowledged it which is where I heard the news.
  20. Emma Willis in for Claudia Winkleman on Saturday 10th and 17th February OJ Borg in for Owain Wynn Evans on Friday 1st March, Phill Williams on overnight in his place. Richie Anderson in for Dermot O'Leary on Saturday 2nd March Scott is off from Friday 23rd February and the following four weeks. Spoony sits in.
  21. Even if it somehow gets passed, how are they funding the cost of extra shows/presenters and producers without taking from the existing Radio 1 budget? That's the only way I can see them doing it.
  22. Surely the RadioCentre are going to object to it if it's anything other than existing content on Sounds or commissioned for the main networks (simulcasts, documentaries etc), especially in the case of a Radio 2 spin off...
  23. OJ Borg in for Sara Cox today, tomorrow and Wednesday.
  24. OJ Borg is in for Vernon Kay this Friday (26th January). I think this might be the first time he's sat in on mid mornings. Also on Friday, Gaby Roslin sits in for Scott Mills Paddy McGuiness sits in for Rylan on Saturday 10th February. Nicki Chapman sits in for Zoe Ball on the breakfast show for a week starting Monday 12th February.
  25. It was mentioned that she is/was Annie's producer and friend when the tribute show to Annie aired last week. She's sat in for her a few times over the past year or so by the looks of it.
