  1. sorry mate don't worry about it. it was funny i just thought you meant it literally haha.
  2. i don't know what made you think to post this but it's just not true and shows a complete lack of understanding, and its just vicious.. radio 2 is good at being radio 2. yes it has some people on it who aren't great as traditional radio DJs (rylan), but they don't want that. if anything it's getting more modern and less bogged down in the past, while still appealing to a wide older age range. scott will do very well there. people need to stop attacking stuff just because personally it isn't for them. by all means criticise anything you want, but constructively, don't attack stuff for the sake of it. sorry if i sound a bit annoyed, i'm not, it just triggered me a bit.
  3. Annie Mac 7-9pm weekdays for new music. People always make digs on here about Capital and the like. Maybe some don't like the music (a lot of the target demo do), maybe you don't like the high rotation (it works for their aim), maybe you don't like the quick links or style (up to you), but none of that means it isn't a very high quality product, incredibly slick, and employs very very talented people, talented in a fast paced, less obvious way than the likes of Radio 1 DJs. It's not massively my cup of tea, but it's very good at what it does.
  4. they play hip hop because it's in the charts and it's popular. 1Xtra is for "The remit of 1Xtra is to play the best in contemporary black music with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. The schedule should also offer a relevant news service, regular discussion programmes and specially commissioned documentaries relevant to the young target audience (15-24 year olds), particularly - although not exclusively - those from ethnic minorities." not exclusively hip hop, but it does play it a lot because that fits it's remit. It currently fits Radio 1's remit to do so because it's targeting 16-24s, and during the day plays new music and stuff in the charts, all designed to appeal to that demographic. Radio 1 is the mainstream youth station, and currently, hip hop, grime and rap are very on target, and enjoyed by much of the demo, so they play it. They'd be mad to not play it a lot, like when Radio 1 ignored a load of dance trends in the 80s.
  5. he's already been there 20 years and he's 45 years old, it's amazing he's lasted on a radio station targeting 16-24s this long. shows what you can do when you remain relevant to the audience.
  6. As a teenager I can tell you people like Scott, Rickie, Melvin and Charlie and Roman Kemp are so so much more in touch. I cannot see a teenager listening to Greg James, or at least not a large amount of them. Sent from my iPhone using the Unofficialmills.co.uk mobile app
  7. From the way this is going, it feels like Greg is just a temporary host until they can find someone dynamic and different. He’s bland on Breakfast. I almost wish Grimmy had stayed on.
  8. I think the contractual thing was Dave couldn’t be on “The Scott Mills Show” Sent from my iPhone using the Unofficialmills.co.uk mobile app
  9. That’d be good, but I really doubt Scott returning to drive.
  10. I am so sorry. It’s posted this four times on the app and I have no idea why.
  11. I really hope Scott and Chris have a good two week stint covering for Greg, I imagine that’s how he’ll take breaks, unlike Grimmy, more like Moyles. I remember reading somewhere that Dave couldn’t come into the Moyles show unless Moyles was hosting it, a whole contractual thing. Sent from my iPhone using the Unofficialmills.co.uk mobile app

  15. Do we think these guys will go any further than 9-11pm? Like take over drive to something like that. I kind of doubt it but you never know, if they do well.
  16. I wouldn’t be too sure, the proper fans of their show should, but mostly Kiss listeners, even at Breakfast I’d imagine, will be listening for the music, which will be much less and not the same on Radio 1. Their show so music heavy it was unreal, at least when I heard it, it made Capital daytime shows sound full of chat compared.
  17. I think they have a different one for mornings, not sure why
  18. This feels like a win for the BBC, and they’re really ramming it home in that trail, it’s brilliant. Can’t wait for the new show, it sounds like it’s gonna be great if this style of humour is what we can expect from the show.
  19. Cel and Katie are 82F, so I guess MistaJam probably is if Scott is as well on a Friday. Didn’t afternoons use to be 82E on Fridays before the three day weekend? I love this it’s proper geeky chat. Matt and Mollie are pretty much always 82D aren’t they? It’s one of the big ones with the purple walls, rather than blue, and Maya is 82A so it’s gotta be 82D. 20. Spot on. Big Weekend still insanely good value. Sent from my iPhone using the Unofficialmills.co.uk mobile app
  21. Nothing Breaks Like A Heart is a huge hit. But yeah she isn’t exactly current these days.
  22. Those artists are a massive deal, and have been a big part of Radio 1. The only WHOOOOO on the lineup is Mylie Cyrus. And the current playlist doesnt have every single one of those artists on it, although it has previously, but if it hadn’t why would they play big weekend.
  23. Don't rule it out. He's in his 20s, he's pretty "cool" if you think about it, and he has big appeal with the demographic. He'd obviously need to improve a lot more. If not then it's gonna be someone like Roman Kemp, or someone else we don't know about.
  24. not a bad shout. when Scott leaves, the likes of Nick, Clara and Greg (in that order) can't be far behind. They are all the "older" DJs now, daytimes need a rethink in the next year or so. Greg feels more and more like a transitional host for a year or so on Breakfast, he's way too bland and serious sounding these days, as a teenager I can tell you everyone my own age would rather listen to Capital than Greg, same can't be said for Dev and Alice or Scott.
