  1. I’ve voted for Greg, I think his show has sounded outstanding this year, particularly the last few months with R1 Traitors, Rogue Promises and Callum’s bedtime story to name a few.

Matt and Mollie’s show also sounds excellent and absolutely flies by so I will put them in close second.

In terms of the weekend, both Sam and Danni and James have reallly settled into their slots and they sound like they could have those shows for years and years if they wanted them (I wouldn’t be surprised if they all end up on weekdays at some point however)

  2. Boxing Day:

7-11am: Weekend Breakfast with Ore Olukoga
11-2pm: Group Chat with Nat and Minah
2-6pm: Chart of the Year with Dan Draper
6pm onwards: as usual for a Friday

I wonder if the decade anthems will be starting on the 27th? Or whether they won’t be doing them this year and just putting a few new presenters mixed in with usual cover?

  3. Not sure what’s happened to your post @Noah? There’s nothing on it! But my prediction is per the below:

8-10pm: Future Artists with Tara Kumar

    Christmas Eve:
    The same until
6-9pm: New Music Show with Jack Saunders (Best of 2025 pre-record)

    Christmas Day:
    7-11am: Sam and Danni
    11-3pm: Christmas Anthems
    3-7pm: TikTok Takeover

    Boxing Day - NYE:

    3rd Jan:
    7-10:30am: James Cusack

    7pm onwards: as normal

    4th Jan:
    The same until
4-7pm: Life Hacks with Lauren and Pete
    7pm onwards: as normal

    5th Jan:
All return except I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sam and Danni on Going Home for the week

  4. Also, the person who posted in this topic only joined the forum today and has only ever posted that one link. The wiki edit was only made this week too by one person. Wouldn’t surprise if the person who made the wiki edit was the person who posted it on the forum?

No idea why though - seems very random.

I do remember a couple of years ago someone was editing BBC Sounds pictures to suggest that some random person from a local station was covering on Radio 1!

25th August Update (Live Lounge Day)

6am-10am: Lauren ? (Doesn't say whether it is Layfield or Refearn) and Conor Knight

10am-2pm: Melvin and Charlie (No Ricky)

    2pm-6pm: Nat and Vicky

It’s now Swarzy on the 10-2pm slot on Bank Holiday Monday. Nice to see her get some cover - I think this might be her first daytime solo show.

Charley Marlow is also in for James Cusack on the 30th/31st August. I haven’t heard her Friday Early Breakfast show, is she any good?

It’s ironic that Jamie practically matches Vick in number of shows, perhaps Jamie’s attendance on the show shouldn’t have been the joke that it was at the time…

Vick did go on maternity leave in May though… and she wasn’t especially present in her final few weeks.

  8. Now that the new schedule has had time to bed in, what are your thoughts on how the station is sounding at the moment? I have to say, I personally think that the station is sounding pretty good right now. Many presenters seem to be top of their game and there are no obvious weak spots that I would personally change myself.

In terms of each show individually:

Dean - As much as I don't hear Early Breakfast that often, I think he is a perfectly competent presenter in his own right. I don't think a partnership worked for him and I do think he sounds pretty good in this show. I don't think he'll be at R1 for the long term though, and wouldn't be completely surprised if he has departed by the end of the year for a commercial network.

Greg - I think he's still absolutely the right person for the breakfast show. The show still sounds pretty fresh (hopefully moreso now that Jan Slam is finally finished with) and I can't see any obvious person who would take over that show now.

RMC - I enjoy the fact that their show has been a complete departure to what came before it. I'm still not completely convinced it's the best slot for them, but I don't see where else they would go on the schedule now.

Matt and Mollie/Jerry - My favourite show on the network now! I love how fresh the show always sounds, there are plenty of features all the time and the 2 1/2 hours flies by.

Vick, Katie and Jamie - I don't know what to think of this show. Sometimes I find it really enjoyable, other times it seems a complete mess. I have grown to like Jamie but I don't think the lack of consistency with the presenters helps at all (and obviously will be compounded with Katie on maternity in a couple of weeks)

    Weekends:

I think James has settled into that show excellently. Exactly the type of weekend breakfast show that I think R1 should be providing. I've never been particularly keen on Nat and Vicky - their style of show isn't my thing but I can see why some people would (I do really enjoy the 00s/10s show though). I'm actually slightly disappointed with Sam and Danni's new show, it's lacking something for me, whether that's because they've continued some features from the afternoon show before, or something else? I feel like this weekend has been better though so maybe they're gradually introducing more as the weeks go on. Life Hacks I don't really listen to so can't comment on. A quick note on weekend early breakfast - I still don't see the point of it? Feels like a waste of both Ore and Swarzy's presenting skills.

The evenings are good too. Jack's show and Jerry's show are particular highlights for me. I do miss the evening entertainment show though.

In terms of predictions for this year, I reckon it will be a quiet one (obviously not including Mollie, Katie and Shanequa's maternity leave). The only change I can possibly see is Dean leaving and Emil (?) replacing him.

    What do you all think?

  9. If I were him I’d just slot back into early breakfast when he returns and maybe not do any breakfast cover for a while, I dread to think what the comments on his breakfast cover show will be. And I can imagine the handover between him and RMC might be quite awkward as well
