THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from anothernerd in The UM Dream Schedule for R1
The UM Dream Schedule for R1
The Results
There are four parts to this results post:
My interpretation of the dream schedule based on the results Pie charts for the votes for each show Chart of the top 25 presenters based on total number of votes across the poll Other fun facts (including popularity of double acts) My interpretation of the dream schedule based on the results
Where a presenter is the most popular choice for multiple slots, they are chosen for the one where there is no alternative who is both popular and available (i.e. the presenter in second place has been chosen elsewhere).
Despite the fact that Matt and Mollie were voted most popular for weekend breakfast, as Matt was more popular on his own overall (throughout the entire poll), I have decided to put Matt solo down for that slot.
Weekdays (Mon to Fri)
04:00 to 06:30 – Adele Roberts
06:30 to 10:00 – Greg James
10:00 to 13:00 – Arielle Free
13:00 to 16:00 – Scott and Chris
16:00 to 19:00 – Jordan North
Scott Mills for Chart on Fridays
19:00 to 21:00 – Annie Mac
21:00 to 23:00 – Rickie, Melvin and Charlie
23:00 to 01:00 – Jack Saunders
Weekend (Sat to Sun)
04:00 to 06:30 – Gregor Davidson
06:30 to 10:00 – Matt Edmondson
10:00 to 13:00 – Nick Grimshaw
13:00 to 16:00 – Dev and Alice
16:00 to 19:00 – MistaJam for Dance Anthems on Saturdays

Chart of the top 25 presenters based on total number of votes across the poll
Scott Mills Jordan North Greg James Arielle Free Chris Stark Dev Alice Levine Matt Edmondson Annie Mac Nick Grimshaw Charlie Hedges Jack Saunders Katie Thistleton Adele Roberts Clara Amfo Melvin Odoom Rickie Haywood Williams Cel Spellman MistaJam Mollie King Gregor Davidson Riyadh Khalaf Huw Stephens Maya Jama Phil Taggart Other fun facts (including popularity of double acts)
There were 63 responses. 67% of responses favoured including Friday in the weekday schedule, leaving only 33% favouring a three day weekend. The most popular new presenters were (in no particular order): Riyadh Khalaf, Abbie McCarthy, Gregor Davidson, Jessica Maciel and Vick Hope. Matt Edmondson is more popular alone than with Mollie. Dev and Alice are more popular together than apart. Dev was slightly more popular than Alice. Cel and Katie are more popular together than apart. Katie is more popular than Cel. Scott and Chris are more popular as a duo than Scott is solo. The only new double act suggested a significant number of times is Annie and Grimmy. Rickie, Melvin and Charlie were always voted as a trio other than for dance anthems where Charlie was preferred solo. -
THIS IS THE BBC reacted to Dan18F1 in The UM Dream Schedule for R1
Thank you for organising this! The results are very interesting but mostly what I expected really. Although I didn’t realise this forum had so much love for Arielle but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I would be very happy for a future radio 1 schedule to look like that.

THIS IS THE BBC reacted to Lee E in Scott and Chris to present new Radio 5 Live show
I reckon he does, he had a BBC lanyard on and looked like he was probably why it's such a good show

THIS IS THE BBC reacted to TMD_24 in Radio 1 Schedule Changes
2nd-5th December and 9th-12th December: Katie Thistleton in for Adele
9th December: Rickie, Melvin & Charlie in for Clara
20th December - Radio 1 Decade Of Dance from 7pm-11pm with Annie Mac & Pete Tong
I imagine that Christmas schedules start from the 23rd December.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from OohErr in Biggest Weekend 2018
Still no sets on iPlayer from the other stage on Saturday, watching the ive main stage thing is great but missing the djs on screen and the lack of radio coverage, the bbc staff are probably just stretched with the 4 sites

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from Acelink in Radio 1 Podcasts
Is anyone else listening to the comedy podcasts?
I quite enjoyed the Ed and Lauren Get On podcast (which has recently finished) due to their funny but down to earth style. It just feels very relaxed and I could see this being brought back as they seem to be quite natural on the radio. General discussions about the funny side of life in a great partnership of real-world comedians. Niki and Sammy's Peachy Podcast however hasn't been great as they spend most of the time talking about themselves and often have to have guests for the show to sound entertaining - it seems very similar to Grimmy's show - forced fun, reliance on guests and awful features (description friction in this case). They are just run-of-the-mill youtubers though so no great expectations here! Scott and Chris' Best in Show is great, replaying games and features from the past couple of years, I t would be better though if they went back even further to things we won't all remember or have heard before bu overall, it works well and is a great idea as a lot of radio is never repeated but Scott's show deserves to be promoted in this way due to its long history for being so entertaining. The Kench podcast will feature many shorter series', the current of which being Ray Moss - No Stone Unturned. This is very different from the others as it is a fictional, light-hearted detective series in which he tries to investigate mock-up cases sent in by listeners. It seems very good in the way the stories are quite funny and interesting and he is a great character. So all in all these new podcasts are a great addition to the R1 collection and I would recommend them to people who enjoy the existing podcasts. In my eyes a much better idea than the constant documentaries and R1 takeover's we were bombarded in this slot before!

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from OohErr in The Scott Mills Show Discussion Thread
When will the station learn to stop using these youtubers: dan and phil, jack and dean and Niki and Sammy are all exactly the same, NOT FUNNY and not worthy of R1 Shows. They always give them new ideas eg video request show, click bait show, comedy podcast but really they are a waste of time and are over promoted by R1. There is a reason all of these shows have ground to a halt within weeks in the past because no-one cares about z-list youtubers.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Mills to Present Radio 2 Show 10pm-2am
Hopefully, his replacement would take up all of these features as they are perfect for the slot on R1 and far better than some of the ideas they would have.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Scott off sick Friday
I'd just let Chris do the one-off shows for Scott being off sick etc. but then get Alice or Matt on in long-term absences of Scott. Chris is easily as good as DJs like Clara or Cel but just not up to the standard of those like SCOTT AND GREG.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Will there be a schedule shakeup in September?
Keep MistaJam on weeknights, move Dan P Carter to 6Music or something and get Annie back on Fridays and Sunday nights. Then bring either Dan and Phil or Jack and Dean or even Jordan North on 9-10 on Thursdays.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Streaming has ruined the radio 1 playlist!
Even weekly podcasts for Greg and Grimmy are much less than they used to be. Grimmy only has enough content to fill half an hour for the whole week. Gregs is now only 50 mins when it used to last well over an hour.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Jordan North
I reckon a good move would be Adele to weekend breakfast, Jordan to early breakfast and an Alice and Clara swap I think Dev's days are limited now.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in The new chart style
Or move newsbeat to 7 and have Danny Howard playing dance anthems until 8 then a more free variety from 8.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in The new chart style
Totally agree, one of the most important shows on the station squished into the smallest slot. Get rid of or delay dance anthems or the news and go through the whole chart like the Jameela Jamil days.

THIS IS THE BBC got a reaction from thebeuter in Will there be a schedule shakeup in September?
Sorry got timings wrong, 3 two hour shows in the evening giving more time for music on stories and surgery and longer shows for Danny and Charlie. This pushes back Phil Taggart to later for a more relaxing show after a night out.
As for MistaJam and the 1Xtra takeover, if you want that just switch over to 1Xtra.
ICYMI would be a show similar to Chris on IPlayer with a Sunday evening recap of key moments in the last week replayed.
