I really like it! A nice refresh, the logo is good too! I wasn’t really a big fan of the Alt version of Scotts last package that they did for Jack (apart from the Drone and the Number 1 Ramp). I hope the 8 different cuts get some airtime!

I can’t help but think maybe Sam and Danni are being lined up to take on the Chart Show, or to be the main subs for it? I thought they sounded great today and they even had a proper Opening chart show jingle (that doesn’t happen for just anyone).

I do think the last 4 main VOs were the best in a long time (probably why they made it 6 and a bit years), but from what I’ve heard today it does sound like there’s only 2 main VOs now.

Scott and Chris, I still have no words. I have enjoyed every bit of your show since around 2004 and have seen it grow from strength to strength. You guys were one of the reasons behind me and a group of mates setting up our own online station, it might not have gone anywhere, but we have a laugh doing it as I’m sure you guys have a laugh doing your show. And that’s all that matters. You’ve helped so many people get through these past 2 years, myself included, so I just want to say thanks for everything and good luck with your next ventures, I’ll be listening! Go on pigs! So the new Newsbeat beds. Personally I like the beds themselves, including the unique openers for each station. But, having listened to all 3 station outputs, the lack of an out stab is really apparent, and sounds bad. There's certainly something missing! But I'm also not keen on them starting the beds again after ever story, it sounds a little rough sometimes. The last package (5 years) was great, but it was time for something new.

I’m a little disappointed that Newsbeat hasn’t had an update with the new era today. Still a great package but has been on since 2017!

I'm actually a bit gutted she's leaving. She's improved massively in the last 2-2.5 years she's been on Radio 1. Whilst still not perfect, she appealed to a certain group of listeners and brought them to Radio 1, the BBC Sounds statistics prove just that! As much as I like Jordan, I don't think he's quite ready for Drive full time just yet. I think give him Friday-Sunday on a permanent basis for a while to get him into the routine of constantly doing 3 shows a week, then a potential switch for Jordan and Grimmy in the future. Although I get the feeling Grimmy might leave rather than go to weekends. If night times were offered again though ?

You're talking about Beth! From memory she works elsewhere in the BBC and so is easy to pull in when they need her. The main station voices who you hear in all the One-tros and IDs etc are Matt, Lewis, Georgia and Rachelle! And of course there's the BBC Sounds VO on the TOH jingle, but I'm not sure who that is!

I have a couple of bits on top of that, such as the Headlines bed and the 1Xtra intro, but that's about it. Does seem very difficult to get hold of. I messaged Dan once regarding the old 2015 package as I don't have any of that one, as that was quite a large jingle package for newsbeat, so many different beds that only saw the light of day once or twice. Never had a response. But in fairness, he's probably really busy producing etc!

Who else has heard the new TOH jingle that’s been played since Saturday. It sounds awful. It’s been the same jingle every time I’ve heard it, and the segues into the Power Intros just don’t work. I think I’ve heard 2 that sounded alright. There’s no need for that on R1, but if it had to have a place it should be on the News Ramp like the old days (Digital FM Online, This, is Radio 1!) What’s your thoughts?

That's his 1-4 show, He didn't start Drive till April 2012. Also the jingle package in use is still the Pure Tonic Ra-Di-O ONE. Pure Jingles started when Greg moved to drive!

There are 6 studios shared with R1, 1Xtra and Asian Network. 82A and B are the 2 bigger studios and are mainly used by Radio 1 as that is the flagship station out of the 3, but another big reason? The Live Lounge! 82A Can't be used to broadcast during a Live Lounge because all the equipment for the LL (Such as the mixing desk etc) is in 82A, and as such the studio is full of the Tech Ops who are mixing and controlling the LL. Clara (and Fearne when she was there) always does her show from 82B. On the days when 1Xtra had a LL and R1 didn't Trevor would be in 82B and Fearne would be in one of the smaller studios. When Greg was on drive he would normally use 82B as well. Greg, Scott and Annie don't just use 82A though, if someone else has booked that studio then they will use one of the smaller ones. The chart has always been in one of the smaller studios, even when Reggie and Jameela did it. Greg only used to do the Chart in 82B because that was his studio at the time for drive. I did Feet Up Friday (Whoooooooooo?!?) with Dev back in 2014 and we were in 82B and to say the studios were only about 2 years old then, they were battered!

The whole of the BBC (TV, Radio etc) uses something called BNCS (Broadcast Network Control System). I believe it was in house designed by the BBC R&D Dept. This allows any studio across the whole of the BBC (From London to Cardiff to Salford etc) to take over any network (R1, R2, R5Live as examples), or route sources into their studio from anywhere in the BBC, including on the OB Vans. A good current example of this is Life Hacks which now comes from Media City in Salford instead of NBH. The studio at Media City isn't faded up in a studio at NBH, as they are actually in control of the R1 network at that time. There are times when it goes wrong, like the other week when Greg tried to hand over the R1 network to Clara's studio after his show and just got "Tone".
