  1. surprised they actually read that out given it mentioned the C word ?
  2. It’s a perfect fit, she’s always been passionate about new music
  3. An hour in and it’s such a fun listen, Vick and Jordan have great chemistry, the links feel fresh and completely right for 2021, and there’s plenty of listener interaction. It’s a 10/10 from me. I definitely think they will be the next hosts of the breakfast show whenever that may be.
  4. I enjoyed RMC’s first show, it definitely feels like there’s much more fun in the show than previous mid-morning shows on R1.

R1 now has an official WhatsApp for shoutouts etc, Greg just revealed just after 9, it’s the studio phone number 03700 100 100
  6. I’m excited for the new era, it feels massive and I think it’ll go very well. I’m most looking forward to drivetime with Vick and Jordan, from what I’ve heard it sounds like it will be a really fun listener-centric show, they’ll have a quiz of some form, a requests feature, and an item called “Going Home Headlines” where listeners can text in about anything they have done earlier in the day and Vick and Jordan will make a mock news bulletin about the listeners. RMC on mid-mornings is an interesting choice but I’m sure it’ll be a very good listen. Clara hosting Future Sounds is a great fit for her, as she has a passion for new music, and the new “Hottest Records of The Week” on Monday nights sounds like a brilliant idea.
  7. I’m excited to hear the first show tomorrow. I have a great feeling it’s going to be very modern and fresh, whilst still retaining the sense of fun that Radio 1 has become known for.
  8. I agree, it makes it easier to promote and stand out from other Radio 1 output
  9. My guess is that the title will be the main vocal on a custom imaging package for the show
  10. BBC Sounds is calling Jordan and Vick’s drive show “Going Home with Vick and Jordan on Radio 1”, that’s going to have a rather long ID then ?
  11. Time flies. I first heard Grimmy when he took over the breakfast show in September 2012, which coincided with me listening to daytime Radio 1 much more than I had done previously. I was initially skeptical, as he was replacing Chris Moyles, who was the DJ that sparked my interest in radio, but over the years, my appreciation of Nick has grown as I've listened more and more and his show is a really enjoyable listen. In retrospect, Grimmy's fresh sound was exactly what Radio 1 needed at the time in order to revitalise the station and put the pulse of modern music culture back into the breakfast show. I'll be sad to see him go, as his time on Radio 1 has soundtracked an important time in my life, but I'm also excited to hear the new era of the station.
  12. Great to hear, Scott’s show is on top form at the moment, the pandemic allowed him to excel at providing a great distraction from the rest of the world.
  13. Last night’s penultimate show was a brilliant listen, with Grimmy and Annie essentially hosting a two hour nostalgia trip. Last show starting in a few minutes, and it really feels like the end of an era, as Annie’s show has introduced me and many many others to loads of new music over the years. I’m sure Clara will do a great job at championing new artists on Radio 1, and I’m excited to hear the new era of the station.
  14. The other similar events in the past took around two days to complete, but this may be longer due to travel time between relevant locations
  15. It was all a trick! Greg has to escape from the campervan, which will travel around the country to find clues hidden in the real world, and therefore I've changed the thread title to reflect this
  16. Woah, this is like the 2020 modified schedule all over again, but at least it means Scott is back on drive (if only for a few weeks), and Grimmy gets extra long shows in his final week on R1, should be very fun!
  17. Greg is on with Scott and Chris talking about it, and repeated what he said on Wednesday’s breakfast show, which is that he won’t know where he is until he opens the blinds live on air each morning
  18. Thought I’d start a thread for this, as there’s not one already and it looks it’ll be a really fun listen.
  19. Greg was hinting at "one final thing with Grimmy" this morning, so I'm definitely hoping hide and seek is on the cards
  20. Looks like a co-host will happen before the end, going by the handover today
  21. Looking back, as much as I personally didn’t warm to Grimmy’s breakfast show when he took over from Moyles, as I was skeptical of change, it was the best possible move they could have made, and the resulting show suited its era of celebrity culture really well. I’m actually feeling quite emotional tonight as it’s just sunk in that Radio 1 won’t be the same station it was when I was growing up, even though I’m only 18, and clearly still don’t like change ? Saying that, Radio 1 has to evolve and I think these schedule changes will ultimately be seen as the start of a new era of the station in years to come
  22. I hope we get one final Annie and Grimmy co-host, as it would be the best way to end
  23. Dean seems to me to be a proper Radio 1 nerd, so I’m looking forward to him getting a regularly scheduled show. I’m hoping for a full revamp of the generic Radio 1 imaging in September. I’d prefer if Greg’s imaging was kept, as I really like it, but I could also see it being updated. I’d also imagine Vick and Jordan will get some custom imaging as well.
  24. Not according to the press office tweet:
  25. If Grimmy’s last drive show is 12th August and Vick and Jordan’s first is 6th September, then I’m going to assume we will have a few weeks with the so-called “B-Team” on weekday daytime in the gap? It’ll be really weird to listen to the “new” Radio 1 in September with all of these changes, but hopefully everything goes smoothly
