These adverts are quite unique, and actually sell more for the station than you see atface value. The adverts posted earlier in the thread are great - they are selling the Specialist side of radio 1 - they have to be serious, and tell a clear message. At that time it was what radio 1 wanted. And as much as it is sad to see people like Pete Tong talking about he starts the weekend, and all the "authoritive" figures of music who are slowly being pahsed out of the station I think we have to accept that the stations focus is changing from the New Music focus we have all grown up with over the last 8 years to a more "entertainment" focus. These adverts show that.

Although Greg has yet to find his feet, you can feel in the show that they are trying - the show is very different to Ediths and has a high degre of interaction and audience participation. It sounds like much mor effort has gone into - when tbh greg didnt need to win anyone round - he already has a big following. What is so annoying about Fearnes show is that you can hear she isnt trying, and they have no ideas about a new show - and you cant see it going anywhere and being a must listen! It wont gain a following. The other annoying thing is that Fearne must have known, or someone on her team, that this was going to be a hard win, and if she even had the slightest interest in the listeners she would be putting the effort in. It sounds like its her show for her and she has been given the show as a reward for HER. the show is about how great she is and not us the listener. Ok, Greg has been fortunate in keeping his team (neil) and Fearne has to learn to work with a new team but that is no excuse for being a bad stand in. Im expecting jo back next week - just sounds like Fearne in for Jo this week.

Liking the concept alot. What I heard was good and I think this kind of show falls better with Nihal. I hope this idea works out and the shows comes into its own over the next few weeks. I personally would like to see this kind of show on every day 9-10pm with Nihal as anchor. Mon - The documentary thing is good - maybe a kind of Panorama for our generation on the radio. Tues - keep with the music theme Wed could be a book/arts review programme Thurs - Movies. Liking this radio1 - one of the best shows so far to come from this re-shuffle and think its the kind of thing that keep radio 1 edgey above the rest!

These adverts are really exciting me - creatively they are quite genius! I hope that we get to see them all together to see how they relate to each other and the station! Im guessing that Gregs, Grimmy, or Dev will be next? Do you think they will do one for each of the weekend line up DJs? Or perhaps do a combined one for each of Weekend Daytime DJs, Dance Night, Black Music Night and then Switch?

This trail is really good, why wasnt the daytime trail as good as this? Daytimes needed a bigger push where as weekends sells themselves with this line up - the weekend line up is the best we have had in a long time. This week should be good. Im hoping that Edith and Jo show the daytime newbies how a first show in a new slot should be done!

I stand by what I said earlier in the thread. If Fearne had come on on Monday morning with a completely new show, something different "to make the show her own" I might have listened. So far she has done nothing but tried to imitate whiley features and it sounds like she is sitting in for jo. Fearne had a good month/6 weeks to prep for this show, and the best new feature she could think of was a book of dating, and to bring the new music generator to daytimes? A feature that has no credibility when done by fearne for the daytime listener. It may have worked at the weekend when I imagine the average age of listeners drops. Imagine the NMG with Jo - would have had an air of authority about and you would have listened. This move has really got me angry, and tnh im starting to think if I want to carry on with R1 - i dont like the way its moving, and Im finding some good alternatives atm as I move around the local stations.

Its going to be hard as Moyles and Mills are entertainers, they provide a comedy element picking out the days stories and with features. The reason Jo and Edith worked in the schedule is that they both had interests. Jo had Music, Edith had movies and although a few didnt like this we cant deny it didnt work. What has daytime got now? Greg and Fearne shoudl have been working on themes and Ideas for their noew shoes and the sad fact isnt - they just came out and played a few songs and got excited about their new shows - did they excite us - no! I like greg, and hope he sorts this out quick! Fearne however is a lost cause! 10-1 should be a serious show, while 1-4 should be something light hearted to wind down to but also being informative.

well radio 1 have lost me from 10am. The sad thing is that I turned over, found something I really liked and by the time I realised it was half 3 and had missed Gregs shows. I can see this happening for a lot of people! Fearne really needed something big and new to keep me listening! And it didnt happen! At that time of the day I want an informative show with some light hearted banter! Not Fearnes patronising manner, stupid giggling, and complete disregard for the lives of us people who have to listen. Her attempt at Entertainment news was still even more pathetic! And what was the sniggering about the Mr Hudson song for - totally not needed and made her sound ridiculous! Can you guess I didnt like it! Wont be listening again! There are very few people who could have carried this slot. There are so many great female DJs out there who would have jumped at this chance.....

1xtra simulcast with westwood - that is def the way forward!! it seriously does leave a gap for cover. I cant see Dev gettingthe cover shifts. MAybe Nihal will carry on the cover role, and unless Jo and Edith do (which I doubt it) that only really leaves Reggie out of the more main stream presenters. Whilst im happy for Sara, again, It will be sad not hearing her on the radio. I do hope she stays on though afterwards.

seems a bit weird. he is only on one day a week - what about the rest of the time? How come she gets a top gig producing the chart show/request show - the weekends flag ship shows, and then suddenly nothing?

Would this be on one of the new daytime shows? or even to weekends with Edith and Jo?

Todays show was amazing. Sara is just wasted on the lie in! But saying that she is the perfect cover for anyone. She can just come in, rock up on the day and make the show her own. Always a good show - I hope she will be the regular cover now.

i really like these ads. the randomness is quite cool, and i think its actually a really good PR campaign to run them seperately. They will all have a sub meaning and i hope that they run them all together. I like how they are coming out one by one - I wonder who's show will be next? Does anyone know who else recorded sections for it? MAybe Jo's and Ediths one will run in time for their shows? Did Grimmy do one?

i started listening to radio1breakfast with Zoe Ball, and i think she is often under rated. I think she marks the start of a change at the station and when Radio 1 started to become the station it is today

He has grown on me too! The daytime element has worked in the evening at that time but he has also kept it kind of "evening"! Its certainly not Colins show and cant be compared to it - it was never going to be the same! Iv actually found iv had it on in the office at work when im on lates more than I did colin.

I think chappers will see out the year, even if he does become les and less involved. The chris moyles team only has a year contract and there will be big name changes then i believe. If scott moves to breakfast, chappers wont follow him and unless dave stays at the station without moyles (unlikley) and they get their own weekend show I cant see Chappers staying.

good changes! You can see how the daytime changes fit into it now and the whole look of the station is much better with the full picture. Annie Nightingale is a good move! Will really miss Rob Da Bank on a Sunday night though as he was great at that time - his 2 shows where immense, and its not a great replacement - 4 hours of repeated material! I always thought he would have been good in the colin slot. Annie/Pete is a good switch too! Looking forward to it!

Westwood shoudl definately get some more cover gigs! It would be great hearing him covering daytime now and then! The Chris Moyles show with Westwood!!! Imagine That! I wonder if Grimmy will be brought in with either Rob da Bank or Huw covering evenings! Realistic cover options are only Sara and Reggie though, until Dev has shown he could carry the bigger shows.

I would assume that this is not a regular show, but he has been given a kind of roving reporter, ad hoc role, kind of like Huw Stephens does BBC Introducing, he could be doing something either interview based as he is good at that, or developing his edutainment thing more?

I hope the live lounge moves with Jo. It is something that is and always will be associated with Jo, and like a previous poster said, weekends need some kind of attraction right now - Jo's show will transfer really easily and fill the gap that isneeded for listener loyalty at the weekend. She is the kind of person you tune in for, rather than Nihal who you catch a bit of if you get in your car to go to the shop etc. Fearne needs a new feature, or we will all be comparing her to Jo if she keeps the same feature. There is no reason why we cant have once a week the replay of the live lounge feature and interview on Fearnes show. Maybe Fearne will become more of a Showbiz & entertainment show, gossip - Perez Hilton popping up weekly, fashion stuff, news topics etc. Not that this is what I want as would rather Sara had the show (someone who doesnt actually need features or a team as she can just carry the show on her own), but this kind of topic would be easy Fearne to do.

That was a really well written piece! The article says a new "2 Year" contract so thats good! Even though Moyles has signed a 1 year deal, we are guarenteed Scott for 2.

I dont think it is Danny Wallace! Isnt it the guy from the punk show? It needs some kind of key! I thought I knew most of the faces, and have tried going through the schedule. The only ones I cant find are Giles Peterson, Dev and and is Vernon in there?
