  1. This is dire and I'm a BIG Charlie Brooker and Huw Stephens fan. Bring back Steve Lamacq !!
  2. Shaun Kevanny is the man as far as I'm concerned anyway, unless Scott is on radio1 of course
  3. Nah, her show has got more "dancey" recently if anything, ableit DnB and Dubstep which is MASSIVE (with the youth?) at them moment (look at DnB making the radio playlist recently like Danny Bird, Sub Focus, Chase and Status) rather than commerical and house like Tong. The show used to feature a lot more hip-hop (the type that was too old skool for Westwood and not impactual enough for Zane like Plastic Little). I hope it doesn't change a bit when it moves!!!
  4. I really like Annie Mac but wouldn't like her to become a daytime DJ, I'd miss the mash-up too much! Edith and Reggie work well on tv together (I think they did all the festivals for bbc 3 this year) maybe team them up for cover?
  5. Congrats Miss Cox When Sara goes on maternity I'd choose Edith or Jo for Mills cover. Huw might also be interesting, he;s got a good sense of humour, maybe team a couple of presenters up since (seemingly) most of the available cover dj's are music jocks whereas the drive slot needs personality imo. Maybe a 1xtra simulcast during Mills' hols?
  6. I've tuned out, this is dire, bring back Colin!
  7. Woo I'm really exited! I've heard the acoustic version on 4music at V it's AMAZING. I love Alphabeat
  8. Was listening to Jo talking about student finances with their expert Martin yesterday and realised how much I'll really miss her. I just can't see Fearne being good with stuff like that, maybe they'll have stuff like that with Greg?
  9. *Wants a like button* Steve Lamacq = True Legend
  10. I really like Nick Grimshaw and it's a good show, I listen regularly. I do however still feel that if they want to keep the playlist as it currently is, a daytime slot would have been better. More alternative music please! Also anyone else noticed when he has a guest in, he plays their song a couple of times before they come in and then never mentions them again?! Very annoying, especially if I like the artist
  11. Just Jack's The Day I Died is AMAZING! Also loving Emienem and The Prodigy's singles
  12. I agree to an extent with what she says. Radio1 are very good at promoting and spotting "up front" British rock/indie and dance acts and giving them daytime exposure. They do however seem to be very week at promoting and taking a risk with any "pop" music though, maybe this stems from them having no specialist show for pop? Maybe Switch or another weekend slot could be used for that purpose? A case of a song getting daytime plays waaay too late is Danny Bird's Red Mist, I first heard it on Annie Mac's mash-up a year ago and loved it, but by the time it was picked up by daytime I was bored of it lol. Although I do understand that that has something to do with how D&B records are released.
  13. I agree that the 10 hour takeover only works if the DJ's are adventorous, Colin and Annie Mac did a great job last time. I'd prefer if the schedule was more Scott Annie Mac Huw Stephens Greg James I'd probably prefer a specialist takeover anyway tbh.
  14. She has shown no preference to those bands at all tbh, she has shown greater favouritism to other bands not on Virgin such as Coldplay and U2. The Automatic and The Hoosiers would have made the playlist anyhow imo. Scott has shown more preference to The Automatic than her!
  15. Amazin' job well done everyone!
  16. With him getting more work at Five Live and ESPN as well as other tv work and writing a book and taking increased time off the show, how long before Chappers will want to move on from radio1 and concentrate on sport journalism? I hope it won't happen, but if I were him I'd probably choose to be known as a sports presenter in my own right rather than a sport's reader on radio1.
  17. Does this mean he'll be on BBC radio 7 days a week? :S
  18. New schedule looks ok to me. The description of Huw Stephens' show doesn't sound as good as his current one to me, but we'll see. Also only an hour of INDJWT is dissapointing though. Steve Lamaque going is kind of a shame but we can catch him on 6music so A real gripe is the repeats on a Sunday night though, radio1 need new talent, it's the perfect training ground. Also not too sure about the Annie Mac/Pete Tong switch, I fear Annie Mac's show will become less diverse with less hip/hop etc as it has become in it's currently slot anyway I'm happy Mistajam has got a better and less restrictive slot too.
  19. I've said before that I'd rather have Jo doing the live lounge, I just associate them together, like Fish and Chips Re DC: Corrine Bailey Rae is my fave live lounger ever, I love her covers! The last Live Lounge will be interesting, I think Foo Fighters might also be considered as the last guests (the band that has appeared the most times?) as well as Arctic Monkeys (Or LSP), Jo seems to love Alex Turner.
  20. I'd like to echo other posters' agreement with Colin Also if you read on in the link, his idea for a radio2 show is amazing! I will be listening to his 5live show on Friday next week and might try catch his Sunday show too, maybe I'll tune in early for 606.
  21. Jk and Joel, not sure for where, weekdays 1-4 ?
