  1. Proper send off, I'm sure he'd of loved to have known about the exhaust falling off! That would of made his day.

  3. I'm starting this thread for anyone who's not connected up on facebook or has no other means of knowing. Unfortunatley long term member of this forum John Smith (or just simply down as 'John' on here) passed away yesterday, the reasons why are still unknown to me but there was a suggestion by one of his friends that John was epileptic. Although it wouldn't be fair to jump to any conclusions right now. Really shocked to hear the news, John was a valued member of this site and a huge part of the site's boom and popularity in the mid 2000's. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP.
  4. Seems amazing that it's so long ago when he left, the show was always at it's very best for me with Scott/Chappers/Laura.

    RAJAR Q1 2014

I can see this happening, and I think it's a good thing. I think Radio 2 will eventually fully move on from the 60's type sound it's been putting across for years. And pull in the Radio 1 listeners of the 90's and 00's such as myself. It's already in full swing with Chris Evans, Simon Mayo, Mark Radcliffe, Sara Cox, Dave Pearce etc doing or having done shows on there. Scott would be a great addition as I'm not sure how much longer Steve Wright will be there, or how much longer people will put up with him...
  6. Scott has always done this ever since I have listened. If the money is there, then fair play. But I'd always imagine, unless your a specialist DJ who does one or two shows a week (Pete Tong etc) then it would rather be Radio, or DJ'ing out. Not both. I'd imagine you wouldn't have much time to yourself, working Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights as well as a 5 day a week Radio 1 show.
  7. Heard a bit this morning, sounds much better than the norm that's on there.. It's always the slot he should of had but never did. Then I guess Moyles and Mills being at Radio 1 the same time as each other, it was either one or the other.

    Hello New Members!

Welcome along! Real nice to see someone who has some time for the history of Radio 1 as well as the current/future. I guess they moved on, the forum sadly is dead compared to 2005 - 2008. I guess people move on, but I don't think the social media boom past those dates helps forums these days. It's not quite the same, as people don't communicate as they would on here.
  9. Bit of a low key exit for Sara really considering all the years she's been there, she was the breakfast show host afterall. Won't listen live but will probably save it from listen again. There's only Scott left now really that I can still relate to from when I used to listen to Radio 1 frequently.

Would be fantastic to be fair if they did. I'd love to hear some classic Radio 1 stuff.
  11. I'd laugh my balls off if they bought Chris Moyles back in temporarily until they found someone else.
  12. Ah somebody remembers the legends! # It's a mystery! Oh it's a mystery! # That was the quiz! 10 years next month since they left Radio 1, some people who listen now were like 3 years old or something back then. Where the hell has that gone! Credit to Scott really for continuing to use it! And if you think that's old, then I remember hearing Simon Mayo on Radio 1 mid mornings on sick days off school. OK, I'm running back off to Radio 2 now kids!!

Wasn't there a big plan to make a lot of this digitally available? A few years ago, they put a beta version of their infax system online. About 2006-7, a lot of forum members on here used it back when this place was at it's busiest. There was nothing you could physically download, but it was designed for BBC employees to go through and search for records of old BBC content (audio & visual). That was taken offline some years ago, and since then there's been nothing.

    Pete Tong MBE

Deserves it, what a great ambassador for dance music and radio 1, they won't have another like him to be fair. Had the privilege of seeing him play at creamfields a few years ago, and Annie Mac at the same venue. With all do respect to Annie Mac, Pete is still the best.
  15. I'm sure I remember that name on Galaxy round here a few years ago.
  16. It all just means that I'm cold, and struggle to drive rear wheel cars.
  17. Most of them seem to be focused around the 60's, 70's & maybe 80's. I wonder where the BBC was focusing it's pool of employment at this time? Asking random unknown men outside the school gates if they wanted a job?!
  18. Might do that actually, I've been using the official lead to charge which seems to show no problems.
  19. Got an S3, but I may go back to the iphone next time. It's having trouble charging, and I can't figure out why. It can even be plugged in and if I'm using it, it'll discharge. It's had a factory reset and everything. Besides, I've just had a macbook pro. So I may as well go back to apple now.
  20. I have WOWGOLD if you want, all I require is your bank account number and sort code sir.
  21. There's still a few years left in him, I think he's more than good enough and relevant to Radio 1. If the bosses see it that way though I'm not so sure, but don't forget Mark Radcliffe was 45 in 2004 when he left Radio 1. So by that standard then there should still be some time for Scott, if he was doing cover shows by now and moved to weekends than maybe you could say his time is short there.
  22. True. Music is so easy to access right now with the emergence of Spotify, Youtube etc, that the demand for radio seems to be dying out. Especially when people can hear what they want all the time and not have the songs/stuff they don't want in between. Those 10, 11 and 12 year olds that Radio 1 seem to be going for know no different to the twitter, facebook, youtube world. The time for forums for Radio 1 DJ's, and in my opinion the best times for Radio 1 in general was probably around the late 90's - 2007. The twitter generation do miss out on the community that a forum can offer though, on here I was talking to people on a regular basis from all over the country.
  23. Does anyone want any viagra?
