Jamie Miller had Radio 1 listeners rooting for him on Sunday afternoon, as Lauren Layfield revealed he's on track to stay at number one again this Friday with his debut chart-topper.

Listen: Jamie Miller tipped for number one

Lauren recapped the drama from Friday's chart, where Taylor Swift suffered a shock nine-place slide to number 10, clearing the way for Jamie's historic first UK number one. "I think you just… I'm so happy for him," Lauren said, after confirming he was still ahead of Tay McCray's Housewife in her first look at this week's race.

There was Welsh pride all round too, as Lauren marked Raye's Mercury Prize win and praised the Radio 1 DJ who announced it. "Congratulations to Raye for winning the main prize, and congratulations to Sian Eleri for just having a fantastic Welsh voice," she said, playing a clip of the announcement.

Listen: Mercury Prize shout-out

Listeners kept the texts and voice notes coming all afternoon, from Jason the Blumler-spotting listener in Cornwall to a very deep-voiced "Chris" calling in from Turks and Caicos. Lauren also threw the chart back five years to 2021 at the request of five-year-old Finn, who asked for his birth year, sparking a replay of Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits and BTS and Coldplay's My Universe in the Radio 1 Anthems countdown.
